I imaged two disks with the same openwrt image. Created a partition 3 on each disk, type fd Linux raid autodetect. mdadm --create /dev/md0 --level=1 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sda3 /dev/sdb3 then created a filesystem with mkfs.ext4 /dev/md0 mounted /dev/md0 to a share. Also had to edit /etc/config/mdadm with the UUID of the array. mdadm --detail /dev/md0 otherwise on reboot nothing would get assembled! Raid1 working on reboots, all good! Just make sure to start your partition 3 at 2097152 like in the video.
Hi, tx for the video. Maybe a little help with the creating of the filesystem the commands are missing over the top lines of the video. can you please post the used command and settings to clarify the process? Best regards.
I'm not a Linux programmer but I used the command below to format/create file system on the data partition. If anyone has a better one please post: time mkfs.ext4 -L Data /dev/sda3
I just grab any ssd at the time. I think any brand will work. Transfer speed is also limited by ram and ethernet...so under 50MBps. Cant exactly confirm now...mine is gone
Friend, thanks for the information, but where do I find the firmware? the posted link is broken. My WD has been hacked and I would like to change its firmware.
The OpenWRT software installed here can be found by searching for "openwrt" "western digital" and mybooklive .. The URL i used is "openwrt.org/toh/western_digital/mybooklive" Be VERY careful when doing this as EVERYTHING will be zapped from the drive! I copied all of my data files onto an external USB drive, and then installed OpenWRT following the instructions on that page, and then updating everything by following this video. WELL DONE Krowten!!
mine is already broken. so i dont really care about the case. I did open some wdmycloud home without breaking the case latch/lock..using a plastic/non metal pryer or thick card.ua-cam.com/video/2_eW25LGXcI/v-deo.html
What is the name of the system in which you work and enter commands? I am a total noob in that, but i must quickly repair my book live duo i dont know how to do that: ((((

Would this be useful to reuse the thousands of MBL's that have now had a factory format thanks to WD not fixing their firmware?
in relation to "wipe" bug, openwrt is just a simple OS, so it doesnt has those kind of bug.

yes. as mwav3 said >> mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdx. or you can use gparted to do that
Used gdisk via putty to make /dev/sda3, and the above 'mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda3' . Lost at the 'fstab'!
above 'mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda3' does nothing. Is that the full command?
All of a sudden it worked! Linux is haunted.
Awesome! Is the board picky about the drive or can I do this process on a brand new SSD? Would I see improved transfer speeds?

Friend, thanks for the information, but where do I find the firmware? the posted link is broken.

Yes, the link is out of date! Just replace 'wd' with 'western_digital' in it

have you used the gpt partition table or mbr ??? im a bit confused because the mbr partition will not let me create a partition bigger than 2TB .
Mas itu SATA interfacenya apa sebenernya SATA3?
Aku googling itu ktny SATA2 doang, sementara HDD bawaannya itu SATA3.
Ikut yang paling rendah..lan 1gbps. jd sata2 atu 3 ya tetap maksimal teoritis 1gbps
How do you open the case without damaging it ?

only boot-loop with blue and then red led. Does anybody know where I find more informations about the bootloop?
