I like the color scheme! Nice looking jet! Enjoyed the review as always. Nice touch on the delayed landing gear deployment! 👍🏼 The field is much nicer now that it’s been resurfaced!
Definitely not something a beginner jet pilot should try. I recommend something smaller. If somebody just has to have a Viper for their first jet, maybe go with the Arrows 50mm Viper. Vipers are not that easy to fly to begin with. The main reason is their vicious tip stall tendency and difficulty landing (without bouncing).
I came from a 64mm f15 to the viper 70mm and It was a tough transition so I agree. The viper is fast and the wing tip stalls are aggressive. I also struggled hard to land it. about 3 weeks after Its fine but def not a first EDF
Finally got to Maiden mine. Flew great. Little bounce on landing = time to straighten the nose gear and put a new c clip in it. Cantvwait to fly it again.
Chris, I've found lately that mounting an AS3X RX on Velcro can lead to some oscillations as the RX can wiggle a little on the Velcro. I've switched to foam mounting tape.
Thanks for letting us know your control surface measurements, have you checked out the wing to stabilizer incidence? The stabilizer on mine was at -2° not much but not perfect. Happy flying!
Nice flying Chris. Seemed like the Viper was reacting a bit more than expected to ground effects on approach. Is it just more sensitive to that when the flaps are down?
I have this jet ( 15th An edition ) amongst others and it would not be my choice for an ideal first jet. Get it too slow and it will quickly drop a wing. Get it fairly slow with flaps and bank too steep and it will stall in. Land too fast and it will bounce like a skipping stone on water. It needs flaps, rudder and a touch of opposite aileron to keep the wings level on slow turns and landing approach. It needs full flaps for landing approach, little or no throttle, patiently hold off until speed drops then apply a little elevator to flair a little near touchdown just to make sure you land on the mains and it lands like a butterfly but it needs practice . If you know someone who has one then go to the field and watch them fly it a few times to get a real time appreciation of how it flies , then decide if it is for you 🙂. Having said all that it is fun to fly but I would buy an Avanti S or a BAE Hawk as a first jet as they are more forgiving .
I’ve had the chance to fly mine 4 times now, After making the nose wheel spring stiffer for my bumpy air field this Viper is one Sweet flying locked in beast ! Landings are butter smooth , power is awesome and it has no problem in wind 💨. I even turned off AS3X and had no issues at all. Can’t wait to get 2 more LIHV SMC racing packs for it. Might try some 4400 Although slowing it down will be a bit harder. Chris after watching you fly it and share your settings , I can’t thank you enough. Well done . Now I’m wondering what’s my next EDFJet. ?? LOL
Stick a hobbywing 120 flyfun esc in there and run it on 7s 4000. Nice boost in performance its a great jet but has some QC issues. Every nose iv seen has them 2 dents on top. Check under the wing near front wheel well. It cracks and is a weak stress point. Apart from that its a brilliant jet.
Awesome video. This is my first ever EDF jet,and can I use 3200 mah 4S to power this baby? Would assemble require any kind of foam epoxy for it to be ready?
@toolbaggers "The time has come to purge the universe of that accursed Megatron! And forever seal my destiny as the one true ruler of the Decepticons!" 🤣
Mine came with very very sloppy Nose wheel. Poor quality control from China . So loose that I couldn't keep it straight during take off . Didnt notice the sloppy assembly even after adjusting front wheel alignment. Ug. Gave it 2 attemps and crashed it before it got fully air born. I finally caught the problem while repairing all the damage. Nows she's tight and goes straight down the runway while testing. Maiden coming soon. She's all patched and color matched painted . Looks new again. Thinking it will probably land like a E Flight 1.5M Cirrus SR22T. Loved your video and thank you for your set up tips.
Lot of people say that the viper 90 is a lot better, what’s your view ? Appreciate the extra cost but from a longevity standpoint worth it ? Avanti S V2 got to be a tough contender here too ?
Honestly, the 90mm Viper is pretty hard to beat honestly. IT's a pretty fantastic all around flying edf jet. Here's my review of the E-flite 90mm: ua-cam.com/video/0AS8ihgfVeM/v-deo.html
Oh Forgot to mention I swapped out the ESC with a Spektrum 100Amp With reverse thrust and telemetry with my AR631. I have a field / grass runway 125 yards long but have to drop down over tall tree tops when wind is out of the North. Bush plane style. 😮
It is just an awesome jet. However for one reason alone I'd say No. Most beginner EDF pilots (which I barely qualify as unless you count SAFE time) fly at full throttle, and this little masterpiece can hit 140mph...its gonna hit a tree or drill bit so fast... Usually I would suggest a Marlin, but the new 64mm Futura is probably a really great first EDF.
3:07 in general, people who use flaps, at ALL, don't know what they are doing.!!! instead of flaps, a pilot should JUST LEARN TO fly the Elevator, correctly.! if a pilot practices GLIDING (at a safe altitude), he will Know how to SMOOTHLY land his model.!!! a pilots who flies a fast airframe near its stall speed is inviting murphy to stop by.!!!!!!!
Hi Chris! Great videos as always!!! Question...Does this version have REVERSE THRUST?? I've watched another video HOBBY VIEW and he's saying it's got it. I don't see anything in FMS Website saying the Viper 2 15thAniv. has RT,

Like how you dropped the gear right before your landing 😊
Actually he forgot to deploy it earlier
a nice look at this Viper...have a great week...😎
Sweet jet Chris.. I remember seeing the first Viper EDF at the Toledo Expo years ago.. So many nice improvements since than..
This is a great little jet, I really liked mine.
I like the color scheme! Nice looking jet! Enjoyed the review as always. Nice touch on the delayed landing gear deployment! 👍🏼 The field is much nicer now that it’s been resurfaced!
That’s what it looks like. I’ll finally get to fly off of it next week hopefully! 😊

Great looking scheme
Solid review. You make the flying look effortless as usual. 👍🏼👍🏼
Great video as always 👊🏼
Good stuff Chris. This viper looks soo much nicer with the new scheme. Rx placement is a good one.
AirHammer out!!

Fair point, thanks!
Very cool!!

I haven’t, but that amount of incidence is fairly typical.
Nice flying Chris. Seemed like the Viper was reacting a bit more than expected to ground effects on approach. Is it just more sensitive to that when the flaps are down?
It can get a little floaty in the landings. That's where I reduced my landing flap deflection a bit which helped with that.

Your comment help me to make a decision to buy my first 70mm edf jet
Dang thats sweet
Bah Humbug! Save up another $300 and get the real deal -- the E-flight Viper 90mm -- yeah baby!!!
Haha, fair point! 😆
@@Thercgeek 🙂 keepin' it real...

Awesome, so glad to hear of the great success! 😊
is there Light in jets normaly
Are you asking about the afterburner lights? That’s not something typically included.

Which one would you recommend between FMS F16 64mm EDF jet Vs FMS Viper V2 70mm EDF jet(15th anniversary)?
I’d go for the viper all day long. With the retracts and flaps, it’s more fun imo
Can it use a Fpv camera?
With some modification, I would think so. That being said, I think the larger 90mm viper would be the better option for fpv
How do you like that nx10?
The nx10 has been great, I like it a lot!
Awesome video. This is my first ever EDF jet,and can I use 3200 mah 4S to power this baby? Would assemble require any kind of foam epoxy for it to be ready?
The power system is intended for 6s, so running 4s won’t provide sufficient power. Regarding assembly, no glue needed for this one. 😊
Sorry for the dumb question, but are these electric powered? What is the propulsion?
Electric power.. Using 6cell 3300mah lipo battery... .propulsion:
Electric ducted fan with motor
is it possible to get flight light. kit for this model
How about a Starscream F-15? Or a F-15 ACTIVE with canards and 3d thrust vectoring.
I wish one of the major hobby companies sold an F-15 ACTIVE. That would be pretty sweet.
@toolbaggers "The time has come to purge the universe of that accursed Megatron! And forever seal my destiny as the one true ruler of the Decepticons!" 🤣
LOOKING AT MINE NOW CHEERS
To be accurate, it'd actually be V3. V2 was the Blue/Yellow Viper. 👍
Fair enough. 😊
Love one but exchange rate here they are around $1300 shame Flys great looks great.😢😮😅😊
Ouch, that’s a bit much

Oh man, so sorry to hear about the nose gear! I'm glad you have it sorted now at least, did you happen to reach out to FMS about it?

That is a very good question and not something I’ve looked into. If Fitz says that it does, then I’m sure that is the case.
