You can see the honesty in his eyes and hear it in his voice. The Lakota have retained that part of their cultural ethos. They learned about lying from the Wasichu. Totanka Yotanka
was along with Crazy Horse, Gall, Crow King, American Horse
Rain-In-The-Face etc. a member of the Non Treaty Sioux whom
were forced into a war by the Grant Administration when they
were on their Unceded Tribal ground when they were attacked
by the US Army in violation of the Fort Laramie Treaty of 1868.

I AM FROM THE GREAT MOUNTAINS OF SOUTHERN ALBERTA CANADA WHERE THERE ARE SO MANY OF SIOUX INDIANS WHO LIVE HERE FOR OVER 100 YEARS NOW AND WE ARRIVE AROUND THE SAME TIME AS WHEN SITTING BULL CAME TO CANADA AFTER DEFEATING CUSTER. SO THE ELDERS IN MY RESERVE SAY WE CAME WITH HIM AND AFTER HE WENT BACK HALF OF SITTING BULLS TRIBE STAYED AND VENTURED FURTHER INTO CANADA. BUT WE ARE NOT CALLED LAKOTAS..WE ARE THE NAKODAS BUT WE STILL SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE AS THE LAKOTAS.

Yes, this is also why the Apaches were finally captured/taken down. They were the last standing fighting Indians who hadn't been encamped. They were amazing fighters. The ONLY way they were FINALLY taken, was because of the govt use of other Apache scouts. They knew the secrets to the area and why/how the Apaches were always able to have the upper hand and stay ahead. So it was their own who were their downfall. Maybe it was envy/greed or perhaps simply self preservation? Sad no less.

Having watched 'Bury my heart at wounded knee' with great interest - I can't help feeling the casting of Sitting Bull was 'Spot on' when looking at his grandson face to face - the resemblance is very close

Sitting Bull was not an American, and moght have been offended to hear himself referred to as such. He was a citizen of the Hunkpapa Lakota Nation. American citizenship was not extended to Indian people until 1924.

Amazing just amazing. I can't get enough of the Lakota or other tribe's people telling the story as they see it and saw it. It makes me so ashamed that we used a spy against a man who was trying to keep his own people from harming themselves with this desperate fanaticism.
I am so glad that native tribal people are still here. I will not let them be abused further if I can. They are part of me. I love their music I want to hear more. I'm a rock musician. I think I understand their spirit.

Very interesting interview. Thank you for sharing. You can certainly see the family resemblence between Sitting Bull and his Great Grandson Ernie LaPointe. I have long had an interest in the stories of the Native American people and recently put a song I wrote on You Tube. Wounded Knee by Keith Beasley. It is my "small tribute" to all Native Americans. Thank you again. Peace.

It was hard to hear him during the background music playing. But what I could hear jibs with other things I have read and heard. The people who know how to manipulate others, lie and cheat will win mostly because they can do these things without any remorse. But eventually they will think they have buffalo'd everyone and will get taken down.....
