I just found a raketa 2609HA watch in my girlfriends jewellery box a few weeks ago. it belonged to her late grandfather in the early 80-s, still working great. I wear it most days now.

I think it's brilliant that you are giving Raketa exposure like this, I'd take any of these over similar Swiss made at the same price - say Hamilton or a Raymond Weil.

I own an old Raketa. It's a mongrel - assembled from parts of 2 different watches with a 3rd about to go into it after the crystal got cracked by a door. It still tells time to a satisfactory accuracy, has never stopped on me and is light, comfortable and unobtrusive in the way that a modern watch isn't. It's really just a tool for telling time - with no frills or foibles to impress or make it a fasion item.
It also has a 24 hour dial --- which seems like wonderful common sense.
I'd happily buy a new one with the understanding it'll take just as much 'life'

Somehow missed this! Been digging deep into old soviet watches and Raketa amongst the coolest. Big zero iconic

I love Raketa. Although I would have loved to see the more appropriately sized Polar model.
I’m most interested in their many twenty-four hour watches like the Baikonur or the T-60 and T-180.
For my money no one makes cooler 24 hour watches than Raketa.
And for those who complain about the price you pay for difference and Raketa makes some very unique, fun watches.

I have a Baikonur and it is awesome. Wears well, built like a tank, and nicely decorated. It really feels like a Soviet era watch built by today’s standards. My only complains are a bracelet clasp (although the bracelet itself is awesome) and a free rotating bezel. Otherwise it is a very special watch. People complaining about Rakera prices don’t understand how much of a bargain these watches really are.

@@jewelstd Good to here. The Baikonur is cool, fun watch.
Look forward to seeing models like the Baikonur in the metal - sadly no AD’s in the USA so it won’t be any time soon.

@@jeremyrice3719 I know how it feels. There’s so many cool brands that operate only online or have very few ADs.

I've got a beautiful vintage manual wind from the 80s which I bought from the Ukraine. Still going strong...

Nice, but these watches seem pricey for what they are. All of Seiko’s watches have in-house calibers too, but their lower-end ones are more affordable than these. But seem either as well or better built than Raketa…Russian for Rocket, right?

I disagree. I was fortunate enough to see an Avant Garde in person, a watch which typically sells for around $1,200. I'd easily take it over a comparable Swiss rival (say, Hamilton). It was a stunning piece.

    • @jewelstd

You won’t find a comparable seiko at this price point. That comes from a seiko fan. Raketa watches are semi-artisan made.

It’s not April the first. But to be fair these prices aren’t funny and Malevich would be appalled by that nasty rip off of his ideals.

Speak for yourself. I love Raketa, both modern and vintage, and the Malevich seen here is an interesting little piece that I would be glad to wear.

According to Raketa's CEO - 95% of their watches are Russian made.

The watches look nice, but the mentioned prices are absolutely ridiculous.
In Russia they would have to work 5 years to buy one.

Oh please, spare us with that nonsense. Raketa's prices are downright reasonable relative to the level of finishing you're getting. Semi-artisan made and literally everything, right down to the mainspring, are made in house.

“One of the oldest watch manufacturers in the world”?? Raketa dates from the early 1960.

He was talking about the Petrodvorets Watch Factory (where Raketa was founded). That was built in 1721 under the direct supervision of Peter the Great. Still, some clarification would have been useful.
