I make videos with our 2003 SVT Cobra Mustang and 2014 Shelby GT500 Mustang, showing the ownership experiences and fun we can have with those 2 monsters, along with car show and car meet vlogs with my friends. We have a lot of fun on this channel so be sure to stick around and subscribe!
my 2011 fx4 4.0L ranger is an absolute beast. I've done nearly 200,000kms and 100k of those have been what i would consider serious off roading..... Service forests roads, camping in the bush, work, you name it... that ranger Hasn't skipped a beat. It's modestly lifted with mudders. You guys don't realize the places that truck has gotten me. places where there are no roads in or out.. It's been in accidents, its been in rivers, its been stuck, all 4 wheels off the ground, it's had rocks thrown at it by sasquatch on 2 occasions.. All across BC baby. Cheers ✌️
That’s awesome!
@@6speedfletch you're awesome. and don't ever forget it.
Thanks so much! That’s very kind
Wow, what an adventure!!
President Trump has better coverage than Verizon Wireless! Can you hear us now?
I bought my 3.0L Vulvan 18 years ago. It was my work truck and now it's my toy. Hopefully it will stay a beast as it has always been.
You have to regear for bigger tires especially with a V6, the additional rotating mass of the bigger tires plus the longer gearing forces the engine to work alot harder. Most Tacoma and Jeep guys will run 4.56 gears with 33’s to bring it back to near stock gearing and power and im pretty damn sure you would get near stock fuel economy
I have a 2011 ranger sport 2wd. I have had it 16 months now I have never had a problem with it. Nothing has went bad. I am happy with mines just ordered a lift kit and rims and tires.
That’s awesome!
Did you end up adding the lift kit and tires? I have a 2011 2wd and want to add a lift and bigger tires, I’m curious where to begin?
I purchased a 2006 Ford Ranger in August 2024. It's my first purchase of a Ford product. The truck is a 3 liter V6 and when purchase it had 29,000 kilometers (18,000 miles) without a spot of rust on top or below. The previous owner had passed away and the truck was stored and occasionally driven by his son who kept it for sentimental reasons over the eighteen years. Only the clear coat over the plastic fenders is peeling in spots. Other than that and the few minor scratches, it's in showroom condition inside and below. An amazing find in excellent condition for an eighteen year old Ranger.
That’s a great find! Enjoy and I hope it treats you well!
I had my 05 Ford Ranger for almost 3 years now required almost $3,000 in maintenance because of lack of care before and was abandoned for a year and storage garage at first it seemed hopeless but watching videos has really inspired me to continue on and three years later I have a new exhaust headlights taillights black rims new tires front brake pads fuel pump starter and a toolbox now for the back it's been a wild ride but these videos have really inspired me to take on the challenges and just continue with the build!
Been watching you since you had the second Ranger the current one you have now and I got to say it's definitely a motivating factor to keep the ranger alive!
$3000 on maintenance is cheap 😂 people pay over 10k to rebuild engines on new cars
@@JUNEBUGLLC yeah you're right given the financial situation I was in at the time now I am able to rectify more stuff since I'm out of that situation thankfully
It's Incredible how they build their trucks to be so nice exclusive looking does not look like a Ford Ranger I thought it was the Toyota it shows their dedication thank you
I love these trucks. Ford should bring this exact model back.
I will say I had a Mazda B3000 4WD and the maintenance was easy and the parts aren’t too expensive, I always loved driving the truck and I enjoyed the exhaust note too. With the amount of memories I made with the truck after almost a year of not having my old one I am looking again for a Mazda B4000 4WD and I’ll be keeping this one for the long run. For those who don’t know Mazda B-series 1994 on are rebadged ford rangers :) if you want a cheaper “Toyota Tacoma” go with a ranger they are great
Yup I run a 1999 b3000 4x4 se best truck / car I've ever owned an driven
Ranger built tougher than Tacoma btw frame wise
Thanks for a solid ass review. In the current market to buy a 3rd gen ranger and plan on modding it to take camping, off roading, and snowboarding. thanks for bringing up the reality of owning this truck. i will be keeping up!
One of the only vehicles where the automatic gets better fuel mileage , my auto spends most of it's time turning about 1,500 RPM . Just sipping the gas until you really need it .
Depends on if you are driving the manual to save on fuel, the manual is more efficient.
@@robertt9342 My 2003 4 liter auto gets 22 miles per gallon highway . That's not the greatest , but it's the same numbers that the brand new Ranger gets . And that one is a turbo 4 cylinder engine , so I'm fine with that number on a 19 year old truck .
I don’t know if the autos are as reliable though
@@luisdiaz1228 I'm pretty sure it's just like the manual , it very much depends on who drove the vehicle before you . If you got someone who believes that short-shifting is against the rules . Good luck getting much life out of that transmission . Or the engine for that matter . Buy your used cars from old people who babied their car . Instead of from a young person who hooned their car to death before they sold it .
Silicon spray in the window tracks will definitely help it i had problems with my intrepids window would do similar things and i sprayed some silicon spray in the window tracks worked like a charm
The older Ford ranger 2011 and older is a compact truck, I've had 3 of them. The newer style ranger is midsize and the only compact truck made today is the Ford maverick. The others build midsize and full size. Dodge stopped building their midsize I believe in 2011. The ranger i own now is the fx4. A week after i bought it check engine light came on, getting that fixed this Thursday. I really wanted another Dakota but couldn't find one in my area and what i was looking for. I have no idea what these newer midsize rangers are doing. They are only a Ranger by name. My ranger has only 76 thousand miles and is nearly 20 years old. They are nimble and fun to drive. Tho around here your won't find a motor for a few hundred. I think those big oversized tires are affecting your gas mileage. I think I'm getting about 15mpg. Ford keeps it cheap tho, i mean my older dakota had more features that i miss like auto door locks when you hit 15 and 2 over head dome lights. Mine older dakota also had a better radio and an overhead computer. When i hit the key fob to unlock the ranger the lights don't flash either. Guess Ford was keeping it simple or keeping cost down ?
I like the videos, keep it up! I've got an 07 FX4 Level 2 over in BC. Love my truck, I've had it for 4 years now and I think it's about time I put a lift on it. I'm leaning more towards the 4" superlift though.
Thank you! I haven’t seen how those look but I’m sure it’ll turn out awesome!
I bought a brand new 4Runner and it's great. Did the lift, wheels/tires, supercharger and a bunch of other mods. I could get 10 decent Rangers for what I have into it. That's the beauty of a Ranger. They are cheap to buy and cheap to build better. I just got my dad's rust free 2008 Ranger 4x4 with the factory 8.8 and 4.0 engine. It's got just over 50k miles! Another 3-4k in good upgrades and it's a sweet ride for cheap. I'll never sell the Ranger or 4Runner ;)
Great video bro my dad has a 2011 range bone stock and he took it on a road trip from Arkansas to Ohio state and he only used $50 bucks in gas there and back he's is a 2.3L 4 cylinder auto Ihe loves it but he bought it cheap to it use to be a fleet truck it has a backup alarm
Awesome! They’re great little trucks for sure
Yes sir they are
Great video I've had rangers for over 20 years old and new style and they are a great truck. I also have a 97 F250 OBS and 48" between the wheel wells helps for hauling things if you need to but i don't need that too much so the smaller truck is better for most uses.
My 2010 ranger has 346000kms on it works perfect no issues other than regular maintenance and normal issues from wear and tear
Immediate sub when ya said Ontario! Been looking into these for a while now. Totally want one now
That’s awesome thanks so much!
got a 2011 sport 4x4 with 412,000 km and climbing and still going strong, i dont baby it either lol
i have a 2011 ranger with a 2.3 liter and 2WD i have a leveling kit i just purchased new projector headlights from Spec-D ive had this truck for over 4 yrs and never had a problem with this truck i love it.i have rims for this truck now i have to get tires im going with 235/75/15 BFGoodrich Advantage T/A and also getting extended shocks front and back.
Very nice!
If you're going to do anything radical to ANY ranger, you have to consider the entire engineering of the ranger. There's a lot of power to be coaxed out of the V6s but HP alone isn't the answer. Too much torque and the trans won't thank you, and the rear end might just pack it in as well. Motor mounts can suffer, u-joints will fail prematurely. All these issues are magnified by bigger rims and heavier tires utilized with lift kits. Not to mention the timing chain nightmare that is the 4.0s main weakness. These little gems can be a blast to drive when they're set up right, but look at the totality of your mods plan to keep your ranger happy. If you want a racer or a drift truck you might need a complete drivetrain swap, but if you just want to make it more fun to drive, keep it simple. A cold air intake paired with a tuned exhaust and a mild tuning chip can be done for around 1k and really sharpens up the three and four liter mills
Really great video man! I have an 07 ranger xlt 4x4 5 speed 4.0 v6. Very similar toy yours! have a 4 inch lift and 33's as well, I have to agree with you I absolutely love it and I've done a handful of things making me love it more. Even have the same exhaust as you haha. You've inspired me to do a video on my truck. Owned it for a year and 2 months. Keep it up bro
I have owned some sportier cars a couple wrx's/sti etc. I sold my last wrx three years ago bought the lowest mileage ford ranger I could find in the country. Had 17,000 miles on it. I enjoy my truck so much more than the cars I had and it'sjust far more practical. I live in a city with third world roads and the thing just eats potholes. Everything is cheap to replace and in stock to replace even with supply chain issues. I wish I could have found a level ii fx4 but I couldn't find one that was hammered on. So I will settle with 3.73 gearing and open diff. My biggest gripe I have on my 2011 is the traction control. It is so useless and annoying. I need to find out how to remove it without killing my ABS.
Only improvements would be tech and interior materials, the motor makes more power of course. But the gas mileage is very close, but I love how small the truck is
I have an '01 XLT 4x4. I installed a Hurst shifter back in 2017 but I plan to finally build a remote shifter when I move back to America. Look into that as a solution for your shifter!
I have many Ford rangers great video, great truck
I got a key fob from a girl that had a Mustang. I programmed it and it works for my Ford Ranger. Yes having a key fob is amazing lol. I have a lot of money in my truck. A lot of subtle mods. I’m not putting exhaust on it. I don’t like the way the 4.0 sounds with exhaust. Keeping mine quiet.
Fair enough! The key fob is a game changer if new to it for sure
My 2002 ranger has 7 cup holders for some reason the first owner must of been super thirsty.
Apparently. Where did they even manage to fit 7 of them?? That’s impressive!
But would this be a ok first truck?
Absolutely!
Ok thanks so much!
Great video. The sport 4x4 gets the rancho or heavy duty gas charged shocks along with front tow Hooks, bucket seats, color matched grill and fenders, torsion bar suspension, front skid plates, and silver painted wheels.
Thank you!
Getting ready to purchase a ranger and it's gonna be something like your beauty. Keep it real 💯 👌
Awesome! Send some pictures to me on Instagram I’d love to see it!
Great video, I’m really love my ranger too great trucks
Thank you! I definitely agree
My 02 gets 18 mpg 9n a good day and 50 bucks to fill up and I have no problems with it besides a few brake problems witch were cheap to fix and mine has 403 thousand miles on original 4.0
Plus mine is a automatic and it has 6 cup holders 4 in the front 2 in back it will be lifted soon in the 5 in lift and 33s
Awesome! Glad it’s treating you well!
You’re gonna put that much money in a truck with over 400,000 miles? Timing chain guides just failed on my 05 Ford Ranger 4.0 V6 at 193,000 miles. Cost me $7,500 to have a brand new engine installed. My truck still looks like brand new. Zero rust. Leveling kit. I think you should start putting some numbers together and seeing if it’s even worth doing what you wanna do. If I were you I’d find another truck though.
I just got a gun metal grey looking ford ranger XLT 3.0 v6 automatic trans lol slowly putting the new parts in
Nice!
sounds like a bearing is loose bro , unless it your exhaust , which i dont have lol . gotta 2002 kid, 220k miles . runs great .
I don't understand why Ford did not come out with a diesel version. A 4cyl diesel 5sp 4x4 would have been a great model for this gen Ranger.
That would’ve been cool!
You are absolutely right! They made a 3.0l straight 6 powerstroke but it was only released in Europe. They could have sold so many more if they made it world wide.
I have a lifted 2003 ford ranger 4x4 level II, and I was wondering if anyone has an issue with their front wheel drive shaft. The CV joint that connects to the output side of the transfer case to the front differential. Keeps breaking on me. I believed it was lifted too high and caused the angle to be too much. I then started to think the dive shaft was too short and just pulling on the joint. but I’ve never seen anyone with this issue. At the moment I don’t have my front drive shaft installed. So 2 wheel drive always. I’m so desperate for help that I’m commenting on UA-cam videos 😅 to see if anyone has had the same issue.
i heard the hurst shifter for manual rangers makes a big difference, it halfs the distance between gears and is very precise.
That would be something for me to look into for sure! Thanks for sharing that!
That would be something for me to look into for sure! Thanks for sharing that!
It’s definitely made my 2011 ranger sport 4x4 a lot more fun to drive it makes you feel like your driving a race car lol
@@6speedfletch the Hurst leak all the time for this trany look up core

You must live up north, I live in Texas 2002 xlt ranger and with Biden gas prices here it takes around 40 bucks from empty to fill, usually fill up around half a tank which is around 23 -25 bucks.
I have a 2008 Ford ranger Sport 4 x 4 and it’s blue and it’s kind of like yours I am planning to put some rims on it soon
Awesome! I’d love to see your rims once they’re on. Send some pics to me on Instagram when you got them!
@@6speedfletch I don’t know if I’m getting rimmed yet but soon I’m hoping to get it soon in their pro comps 31 series 16 inch
Great vid bruv! I got me a stock '06 FX4 Level ii recently here in BC. I was waiting to hear what your reliability issues were in the video but you never said. Can you elaborate a little on what happened? Just so I/we all can be prepared. Thanks!
Awesome! I had power steering go early on along with slave cylinder and a spark plug wire. Rocky beginnings with it but she’s solid now anyway
Yes I do know whar you mean about the long throw
5 speed shifter. I believe that Hurst has a short throw 5 speed shifter for the Ford Ranger truck and should cut shift to about half the throw between gears
For sure, and I could go and do that. Just not worth it for me haha
One thing that never made sense to me is that ford put basically a Taurus engines in the ranger, 2.3, 3.0, and the 4.0 liter engines. Low power and low mpg. But the 3.4 liter they released for the late 90's Taurus was a v8 and had more horsepower and torque, and got around the same mpg. 😂 Wtf Ford!!
just traded in my black 18’ ford focus hatchback for a white 08’ ranger sport 4x4 because of my handyman/construction business. i’m thinking of doing a double din radio upgrade, would you be able to do a video on that?
and forget having a newer nicer cleaner car , i love this little v6 ranger sooooo much
I would love to do a video on a double din radio I just haven’t had the willpower or time to go and pull the trigger on one. If I ever do, I will definitely have a video on it! Awesome to hear you’re loving your ranger
It's early Ford? Early Ford is the Model T! My ranger is 20 years old and I have owned it for 18 years!
Sounds like a Tijuana Mexico transit Bus. I'm considering buying one.
Haha never heard of that description before
"Filling up 1/5x a week" or "$75 a fill up" are not measures of fuel economy.
Miles per gallon is key.
Sounds like you're running TSL SuperSwampers, that road noise is crazy!
After conversion from l/100km it makes about 13.65 mpg
I have a 2008 with 280000 kms and it runs great
I have a 2009 with 295,000 kms!
Would you recommend getting a 2009 or should I look at a 2011
I’m not sure the differences honestly. I love my 2011 but also had a 2008. I’d just go off of which has more options and lowest miles and best condition!
9:15 my brother has a 97 and I have an 01 ranger my brother has an XLT and he has mirrors on the visors but I don't
I wish mine did haha
I like it!!!
how was fuel economy before tires and lift? id have to imagine that would be a determining factor as to why you get shitty gas mileage. and by chance how many km's of range do you get on a full tank?
I get roughly 420KM now on a fully tank. Before I probably got 460-480KM a tank
@@6speedfletch that’s interesting, cuz I’m in the market for a ranger and I’ve been reading they should get around 500-550 depending on weather. I’m right next to you in Manitoba, how much with your gas prices over there does it cost to fill?
Roughly $78 a week. Maybe that’s what it was, 525KM before the lift. It’s been so long I forgot
I have a 2010 ranger with the v6 and it gets 10-13 mpg around town
Love it man, keep the grind up
Thank you!
Ford Ranger 👍👍👍
that classic leaking thermostat housing...
Sorry, I didn’t catch how big you went with your lift kit?
5”
@@6speedfletch thanks for the quick reply man. I really enjoyed this video, I just got my ranger a couple months ago and never really knew where to start with the aftermarket. I’ve never been a big truck guy but after someone totalled my car, my neighborhood sold me his old fleet ranger for a decent price. Just got a sick stereo in and now I have some ideas where to start with customizing and making it my own. Thank you again. PS love the ranger and from Alberta 👍
Of course! Be sure to follow me on Instagram if you have one and send me a pic of your truck! Any other questions you may have don’t hesitate to ask!
@@6speedfletch No problem, I'll be sure to do that. What website did you order your headlights from? I'm looking for a Canadian company that won't charge crazy for shipping. Thanks
They were bought by my gf as a present so I’m not sure which website she got them from. Sorry!
I am hoping to get a ranger for my first truck looking at a 06 fx4 lvl2 rn
The FX4 level 2 is definitely a truck I would want If not my Sport 4x4. Good luck on your search! I love mine for sure
Do you have any wobble on highway? I have the same lift on my 07' and trying to narrow it down
When was the last time you had your front end inspected? I have an 05 FX4. The only time I ever had an issue highway driving it was the sway bar links. Are your front tires wearing evenly? If not then you definitely have a problem.
A little bit. Only noticeable if I drive with no hands lol
Do you know the max tires without a lift?
Thanks!
I don’t. I think 31’s
Superb
Consider the amount of money you have put into it with mods, why not get the Hurst short-throw shifter? I was considering getting a mechanic to re-fabricate the stock one to give it a shorter throw, because the Hurst one is pretty expensive and unfortunately the only option. I'm sure there are aftermarket options for putting a mirror on the sunvisor as well, something I am looking forward to doing.
No need for a short throw. If I had more power then maybe haha
$75!? I spend under $30 on my lifted ranger fill up every other day tho lol
That’ll do it lol
The passenger visor has a merior
Not mine
What exhaust setup do you have?
MBRP Catback!
I have a 2011 XLT 4x4. Yeah the interior does suck. Wish there was a way to add fromt facing rear seats. Jump seats suck ass.
Can I get the 2011 ranger automatic
Absolutely
Eff this guy. He needs another Honda Civic. Rangers are beast!
How much for it
$15,000CAD
why did you buy a ranger? sounds like you picked the exact truck you dont like?
History. Cheap, decent gas. Small. Many reasons
Ford Rangers were great trucks ......built better than the garbage GM S-10 those are yugos with a cargo bed
first five mins sound like you hate it...
XD it’s an adventure…
Sounds like you need a larger truck 🤣🤣
lol lifting a truck with bigger tires and talking about fuel mileage 😂
2011 garbage epa regulations get 90s model
The 4.0L is still much better than the junky gutless 3.0L!
