I have an assortment with every BCN to 259 or 239, every SMA to BNC, a few tee's and a few female/female adapters as well as some that go to binding posts and other things like 90 degree connectors and some F type and Motorola(RCA) type. I had them in a bag for the longest time, but put them in a small tackle box last week so I could see them easier. Having these connectors on hand helps so much. Good vid. New hams need something along these lines whether they build it themselves, or buy it all together.
Exactly. I encourage everyone to look at their needs exclusively. For me, I like to have a whole tacklebox of weapons for when I'm I'm in mad scientist mode.
Would you believe, even after this video, I went out today and left them at home...mostly because I made this video and left them on my desk. No joke. It took me 2 tries to make my video today.
OK... So I bought an MLA-30+ which came with cheap, mini (coax looking) cables and connectors... cute little things. I need to plug into my portable radio's antenna jack outlet and so I bought a regular size male coax threaded to stick it in the radio's hole type male plug. The problem is... the threaded end of the radio plug adapter I bought is way too big to fit into the tiny female end of the MLA-30 cable connector. I don't need a whole box of adapters, I need one adapter that makes sense but I know nothing of these things. What is the cure? Thanks A part number would be nice.
@@hamradiocq The MLA-30 is not a radio. It is an Active Magnetic Loop Antenna for receive only desktop, portable and SDR radios with inputs for auxiliary antennas.. I wrote you BECAUSE you seemed to be the adapter king. I thought that if anyone knew the answer to my simple question... you would.
I have bought also the MMCX connector. STUPID ME. BUY EVERYTHING doing 20 miles to get a connector can destroy a nice afternoon with the wife... 73 - VA2SOB Claude

Such a GOOD idea man! Long time no see.
Thanks Eduardo, much appreciated.
Absolutely right! You need them available all the time. If you are a QRP guy you need them with you in the field.
Right! so easy to forget!
A very good tip, not just for new hamd, but for all of us. We have a hamfest coming up on November. I intend picking up lots of connectors.
Wheres that hamfest?

This was exactly what Ive been looking for. Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
Oh yeah, I have a ton of adapters, connectors. The key, though.....is remembering to to take them with you on a portable operation!!..lol

@@hamradiocq Haha! I believe it! I think that I need to keep a kit in the car...
Nice !! Got this kit for 4 bucks.
Very true. Absolute must-have items.
Too many times ive been without
That micro connector is an MCX; a European standard. It's just like an SMB, but smaller.
Ahh I see.
Good advice. Would like all amphenol connectors. I have been slowly grabbing them off eBay.
Yeah, seems they are expensive at hamvention. I like a nice cheap assortment.
What is best between SMA and BNC for a handheld scanning receiver for listening to VHF Airband between 118~137mhz
I'm not sure, typically don't get a choice. I don't like SMA.

I don't know that radio I'd contact the maker/seller. I like the box because I'm always mixing and matching.
