What does all the lingo and statuses mean when ordering a C8 Corvette?

- I was asked for a rundown of the different terms and statuses mentioned in forums and videos regarding ordering a C8 Corvette. I explain consensus, DOSP, allocation, and 1100, 2000, 3000, 3300, 3400, 5000, and 6000 statuses.

Thanks for this. Ron! If this was in response to my request, it's over and above what I was asking for. I've worked at both Chrysler and Ford dealerships, but have never ordered cars. But in any case, it sounds as if every member of what they used to call "The Big Three" has its own distinct processes, procedures, and protocols. Thanks again....

Great video and very informative/truthful! I ordered my C8 Z51 2LT on March 2022 and it just to 3000 status in Jan 2023. Fingers crossed for a long wait.

I went to my local small Chevy Dealership in central PA, in late July 2021. They may get 1 to 4 Corvette allocations per year.
I specked a 2022 C8 2LT coupe, Red Mist, Z51, Front Lift, Battery Protection and Mag Ride. Placed a $5,000 deposit down.
I was told they would sell the car at MSRP. Hopefully I will be hearing from them about my status level. They seem confident they will get at least one allocation. I was told they had four other individuals interested in purchasing a C8 and the first person to place a deposit with them would be in line for their first allocation.

Can any dealer pull the VIN once it gets to the 3300 status?

If I’m at 3100 can you Add a spec such as radiator guards
Unfortunately no, once the vehicle hits 3000 status your dealer can no longer make changes. Good news is those are a dealer installed item once the vehicle arrives, even if ordered with the car, so you can still purchase them through your dealer to have them installed when your car arrives.

So my order was placed this week for a 2022. What are the chances of having the car by end of year?
Order was placed with an allocation available? If so then you should certainly have it before the end of October barring any major shutdowns.
How come people at the bottom of the website list got 1100 status?
Because they have given me their build to enter into GM Workbench. Anyone that has given me their build will have an order number and 1100 status in GM's system.
