Whoever originally came up with “How about we just have like 15 gargantuas chasing the player I’m sure that’ll be memorable” you were right, but also you’re a monster. The music in black Mesa was all so good
I had learned in the OG Half Life that the Xen Gargantua could be killed by the Xen Trees, so I tried to lure the first one to the first trees I found, but it quickly became apparent that it did not work like that in Black Mesa, and I just needed to skedaddle.
What I absolutely loved about this part of the game was that there were no arrows pointing you were to run, no annoying sidekick telling you what to do. Just sheer adrenaline and spatial awareness. I only died once because I got stumped, which is not a lot considering how far you have to run. The music truly immersed one into the experience of running for one's life. It's been far too long since I last enjoyed a game as much as I enjoyed this one :)

i did the run and the jump first time i think, without knowing what to expect, it was a very well crafted adrenaline inducing level. one of the best crafted levels in my opinion.

I think it wasn't a coincidence that this chase happens right after you leave the village, those gargs weren't just there. They are guards that kill any vort that tries to leave.
It could also be because they were sent when the alarm was tripped. The reason they were not active and only broke those when is either because Ai or they were sent to ambush you.
Literally my funniest experience with the game. The first gargantua was after me and i managed to jump across to the other island and i was like "later sucker!" only to find out another one just came out of some hole on that island. The entire part i felt like in some slapstic comedy where they just keep coming out one after one after one. I love this.
YES I FINALLY FOUND IT. To tell y'all honestly, including you Mr. Nielsen, I kept replaying the Interloper Gargantua chase just to listen to this amazing piece of yours. I'M IN LOVE WITH IT. Not to mention Surface Tension 2, We've Got Hostiles, and the Questionable Ethics ambush... Just perfection
The adrenaline really kicked in when the first garg came in, then the second one appeared and my heart started pumping real fast. By the time I reached the end I woke up in the hospital and the doctors told me I was lucky enough to survive a cardiac arrest.
That moment when I finally caught my breath and turned around to see all those Gargantuas simply watching quietly, having driven out Gordon from their home, was beautiful - in no small part thanks to this track

I played through Xen completely blind and this and the gonarch’s lair were the only two moments where I had to play as hard as I possibly could. I usually crack jokes and make funny bits but those two parts I was just so focused and immersed
I actually prefer the first version where you can hear the vocalist yelling much louder. Now it's very faint and I'm not sure how that's an improvement. But we'll see how it'll play out in-game tho!
Gordon Freeman is a badass for what he went through; I know a lot of people hate on Black Mesa; but it truly encapsulates the terror and the magnitude of the resonance cascade and the will one man had to face it.
Idk if this has been commented on yet but jumping over that large final gap to the other side of the Xen island in order to escape from the gargantuas while in sync to 1:38 is such a badass and heavenly feeling.

Love how they've taken a two second encounter with one gargantua in half life and turned it into a full two and a half minute chase scene with about twenty gargantua and a dope ass score to keep you moving. Everyone involved in this game put so much passion and creativity into it, and it really shows.
When this music starts playing I really have no Idea what's going on until I saw more and more gargantuas than usual I just fukin notice it was actually a chase scene. Also all of your music is really well made thanks for letting me experience the adrenaline rush with this music it's awesome!
I had a full on Warframe dream last night, and I was absolutely jamming to this while slicing Corpus to bits on a ship orbiting the Moon. I couldn’t tell the difference between this and the OG Corpus music until I woke up and was like “waaaiiit”

I played through Xen completely blind and this and the gonarch’s lair were the only two moments where I had to play as hard as I possibly could. I usually crack jokes and make funny bits but those two parts I was just so focused and immersed

I actually prefer the first version where you can hear the vocalist yelling much louder. Now it's very faint and I'm not sure how that's an improvement.

Gordon Freeman is a badass for what he went through; I know a lot of people hate on Black Mesa; but it truly encapsulates the terror and the magnitude of the resonance cascade and the will one man had to face it.
Idk if this has been commented on yet but jumping over that large final gap to the other side of the Xen island in order to escape from the gargantuas while in sync to 1:38 is such a badass and heavenly feeling.

Love how they've taken a two second encounter with one gargantua in half life and turned it into a full two and a half minute chase scene with about twenty gargantua and a dope ass score to keep you moving.
Everyone involved in this game put so much passion and creativity into it, and it really shows.

When this music starts playing I really have no Idea what's going on until I saw more and more gargantuas than usual I just fukin notice it was actually a chase scene. Also all of your music is really well made thanks for letting me experience the adrenaline rush with this music it's awesome!

Holy fuck did this soundtrack really make this bit AMAZING. I felt like a straight badass maneuvering through it for the second time. Of course the first time, I sounded alot like the vocals and totally didnt get a few noise complaints
I was genuinely surprised by what was happening but the music especially in xen was so immersive and without it the game would be so different
The sheer panic I had when I played this section for the first time it was so great.
