Beautiful scenes here. The EVF-11 is definitely a must have with this camera, and most LCD's for outdoor video and photo to be honest. A monochrome version of the FP would be interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Totally agree about a Sigma fpM. Yes! I did read that the Pentax K3M used an existing sensor that did not have to be modified, which made it more do-able for Pentax and niche sales.

FPL owner here, shot long time only with back LCD. Got a while ago the EVF, helps a ton but makes the FPL so chunky, that I mostly leave the house without it. Once you work a while with the camera you understand the exposure and you get it right. Focus on the other side :D bad in bright light with back LCD only. But I just love this camera, with or maybe because of its "flaws" For monochrome, have a look at the DP Merrill with Foveon sensor, you can put them in real monochrom mode, and when you put them in the Sigma editor, they are just b&w. I was hoping for while to maybe get a Sigma FPL with viewfinder in it, but I guess that defeats their meant purpose of being modular. So, I am going to sell it with all the tons of lenses I have :D enjoy your FP, it is awesome

I do love how compact it is. I carry it around in my jacket pocket. I want to try the EVF-11, but I definitely wish for a more elegant solution. I’ve never shot with the Merrill, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. Maybe one day Sigma will release the mythical updated Foveon model.

@@LukeTaylorPhotography I have now in my pocket a foldable loupe thing for the screen, helps in critical situations :) and I even got a small foldable hood from Japan (there this camera is cult)

Great vid! I highly recommend trying the Sigma sd quattro (foveon sensor camera) The colour science for the FP was based off their findings from the Foveon sensor.

Nice shots Luke. Question for you - in monochrome mode there is toning color control. Does that mean you can have a digital red filter where you darken the skies in b&w images? Or does it actually tint the monochrome color red. Fuji and Ricoh have those digital red filters and I'm wondering if I'd be able to do that on this camera too or if a physical red filter would be required.
The heatsink seems to do a lot of heavy lifting on this camera and unlocks another level of dynamic range and ISO performance. Honestly seems like a step above other FF cameras in terms of image quality, approaching digital medium format. Of course pure monochrome sensors are still superior but this is way more flexible. Great color science from sigma.
An updated FP L with ibis + tilt screen + rear curtain or global shutter would be a photographers dream.

Can't use the FP outside without the EVF-11. Indoors it's OK. I have owned the FP for a few years and have no problem carrying it with the EVF attached, even on cycling holidays. The images (I shoot raw) are incredible.

@@musicdijay All the Sigma Contemporary lenses are great, very affordable too. For character I use Pentax Asahi Takumar.

This is a topic that definetly doesn’t just interest you! Moments ago I was googling trying to find if somebody had came up with the idea of film simulations on the sigma fp and I stumbled upon your blog. I as well think that the camera has a lot of overlooked potential for creative photographers who doesn’t mind falling out of the usual.
I am very curious of what you can come up with after seeing your outstanding work with the Ricoh GR I’ll be looking forward for future updates, even if it just interest you and me! Hahaha
By the way, give Cinema mode a try, with the right settings can give interesting results. Greetings from Spain!

Hi Luke, great video. Would you recommend the FP for someone who shoots only stills? (Subscribed). Thanks!

Hi! I only shoot stills with my FP and I think its a great camera for that purpose. I've been shooting it without the EVF for about 1 year, but I recently ordered the EVF to test it out. Its definitely a niche camera, but if you know your needs and your wants, it can be a great stills machine.

A bigger pie in the sky would be a FF Foveon Sigma FP...

Unfortunately that would be impossible. I'm also waiting for the announcements of this new camera but I'm sure it will be much bigger:) until then I will be rocking my SD Quattro while dreaming of owning an Fp to compliment eachother

Hi Luke, thank you so much for your video. I chanced upon it while trying to search for information on the Sigma FP. I just recently got one as a FF that can be an everyday carry, and have tried them on with some Voigtländer glasses, in particularly the 35mm F2. Am wondering if you have encountered any vignetting issues with your 50mm as I am thinking of getting a 50mm if it doesn’t have any issues compared to the wider 35mm.
Looking forward to trying out more of the different colour modes 😊

I just went outside and did a test. My Voigtlander 50mm f/1.5 does vignette a decent bit when photographing at f/1.5 to f/2. Most of the vignette disappears after f/2.
In practical use, I've never been bothered by the vignette, but everyone has different tastes and tolerances.

I have two sizes of the "HOODMAN" viewer to hold over the LCD screen. Not very good for handheld V/s on a tripod.
