Obsidian flames charizard and zapdos are winners. Greninja is top 5 for the gen. Gardevoir the paf is going to be the money card. Pokémon is doing something with gardevoir. I don’t know what but that card is going to be the sleeper like the rayquaza alt or the blaziken. Mew paf , iono, Altaria, groudon, tyrantar are all winners. I still Stan yveltal and misimagius. Those are going to be surprises. Gastly is probably good and Magikarp is the big unknown for me. It really depends on reprints and print quality. Tarsugiri, Cleffa, eevee, chansey, Grusha, parasol lady, tulip, all the starters are strong and could go either way. I hope this adds to the discussion.
I think all the 151 cards will be near the top in the end. I can’t see any of the trainers remaining that big, Marnie is the biggest from the last era at like 30 bucks. Especially that morty. I just don’t get it.
The obsidian charizard seems like a stretch. Not a big set, easy pull rates. Maybe that’s just me 😅

@@Itwasneveraphasecards I think the Iron Valiant will at the very least hold it's value. Not everybody is a big fan of the future variants, but this card is badass. Collectors who want a little future in the binder but don't want to chase them all will get this, it has them all in it. One card and the future collection is nearly full

I completely agree the way the texture radiates out from the moon and the sparkles are never seen in the photos

I think S&V base is the most overlooked set. Fairly sized set with gorgeous arts

The problem is they are not as popular as the 151. The card shops here don’t have any stock at retail price. It’s crazy.

First pack i bought cause i was thinking of trying to start my own collection and i got lucky to get the charizard. Now it holds a special place in my collection
I agree with you on Charizard EX. Too cheap. Easy to pull sure, but when print goes out and you need to buy boxes to get it, it has no choice but to go up. Also my concern is will there even be a reprint of the first few sets of SV. I honestly dont think so. I feel like they were printed with demand, and the pull rates were too easy. Pokemon would have to adjust those rates on a reprint or think of the damage it could do to the market. I do think Paldea Evolved will get a small reprint, but not with boosters, etbs only.
Dont sleep on the trainers or cards like raging bolt/iron crown etc. All great arts, but hard to pull. Damn near same as that Greninja, but the key is theyre all part of the dlc in the video game. For old heads they have no connection and dont care much, but to younger ppl they love them. That Carmine card in person is phenomenal. Bloodmoon is similar to sleepy t-tar, so long term TM has potential to be a top set in SV. I dont think we've seen even the top 3 sets yet.
But if 151 is playing off your nostalgia, then you know the legendaries and other cards will play off someone elses in the future.
Very well said. I should definitely be more open minded moving forward. It’s hard to get rid of my Gen 1 bias but as an investor it would be best to do so. I’ll work on that.

My personal opinion, a full 151 set is the play. You could master it with promos but even a std set has huge potential with the amount of art work included

Scarlet and violet base set is a good set almost got the master set
Nice that’s awesome! Still working on mine got a ways to go but a good start for sure. I ripped a few boxes when it first came out.
I think the 151 SIRs are gonna be radioactive hot even if there is a reprint sometime or another.
I know they aren't SIRs but the O Forme Arceus/Dialga/Palkia/Giratina are super solid investments. I think they will age like fine wine and they are great pieces.
Could definitely see them popping off together at some point. Lots of people buying them up for master sets to never sell so lots coming off the market every day lowering the supply. We will have to see what a reprint will do.

Top Tier for me would be
S: birds, Alakazam, Bubble Mew. I can see people looking back towards the end of SV and seeing the bubble mew as super unique and special card. We really dont have an all blue shiny art in this style. Its my personal pick for top sleeper card.
I wouldnt invest hard in Roaring Moon/Gardoviour. Esp if you don't have much faith in like Iron Crown/Raging Bolts. I believe those are really strong A/B tier cards but isnt the biggest margins.
There's a lot to see come second half. Some might get bumped off.

Sv Base has AWESOME cards... they put a lot of love on making them... the komiya drowzee... the slowpoke... I mean, not only the SAR are chase cards... I am mastering that set because I see a lot of potential in the future...
Also it introduced the 3 cards history with ralts - kirlia - garde ( maybe the most used evolution line in Emerald and third gen )

The zapdos is great, and the psa 10 rate is very low.
There's a few psa 10 Japanese versions....English seem to to rare
So are these opinions just for the English 151 or do they apply to Japanese 151 as well?

If reprints has different date then won't that make first print 151 worth more?
Great question, that's not how it works any more. They don't do 1st edition print runs or anything like that so the cards from the second or third printing would look exactly the same. Possible that some boxes might be able to be identified as a first print run but the card value would typically drop as supply is increased.
Zapdos is my favorite in 151 also.

I’m surprised the Erika’s invitation SIR is only $20. I know waifus only catch a premium in Japanese, but it’s a beautiful card. I don’t even care about trainer cards in general but I had to pick up 3 copies of it.
Oh yeah a nice looking card for sure. Plenty of people like it, might be a great sleeper pick to keep an eye on.

@@SmoothOperator419depends on what stock Pokemon wants to get rid of. Like mini tins, there's still a lot of stock. Maybe they'll bundle to finish the final stock. That's still unclear. Just check the stores towards the end of October. It's guaranteed
I see no reason why the SIRs won’t spike just like the alt arts, just as soon as SV starts selling out on Pokémon center!! And again that could very well be like 2-3 years but I’m betting they spike atleast a good amount when the sellouts happen.
Yeah that would definitely make sense. I’ll be keeping a close eye on it.
Pull rates determine most card prices. Greninja will only go up in value probably hitting the 600 mark in a few months from now because of how brutal it is to pull.
Pull rates aren’t the whole picture, but I understand where you are coming from. I think part of it is social media attention to the card right now and people like to chase the money. But you really could be right for sure! Thanks for watching and commenting I really appreciate it.

I bought a Zapdos SIR on eBay auction for $20 but it has some slight whitening on the back. Would never get a 10. How badly Does this kill the long term value of the card? Thanks!
It will affect it for sure but if you look at some of the sales for the big sword and shield cards the LP are still going for a good amount so I wouldn’t worry.

Disagree on obsidian. I love the IR's but it such a small set and the SIR zard is okay but so is the Darkness ablaze Zard
