Bristol Channel Bass Fishing- Early Summer Fun In The Sun

- When an open coast bass foray failed to produce the goods and every single bait seemed to be intercepted by small codling, I changed tactics and headed for a venue tucked out of the main run of tide in an effort to avoid these nuisance fish.
Joined by my friend John Drury, we enjoyed some tremendous sport on light tackle and actually managed to avoid the codling altogether.
Great video, two very different marks both stunning. Good to see light tackle fishing for bass and impressed with the care taken with all the fish and them being returned.

It seems so wrong to hear “nuisance codling,” like sort of an oxymoron 😂. I’m in Kent, and the last cod (or even codling!) I saw was 2018, and even then it was from a mid-channel wreck out of Dover! One man’s trash and all that... great video Jansen, keep them coming!

Great video. I know that mark. I go fishing there for silver eels( 2lbs plus) only catch and return. You had a long walk back. Instead of peeler crab I use local caught hermit crabs and ragworm.

Top video Jansen with quality fishing. I liked the part when you realised that there was a green close by. Bring the pitch and putt next time. On the 2nd mark I've always wondered what the footing is like but do you think they come all the way into the small estuary, if you can call it that? Tight lines.

4/0 or 5/0 circle and a single crab🎣🙂
Hey great video and both marks looked lovely. What were your light set-ups at both marks if you don’t mind me asking? Rods/reels/line etc.
Thanks Rhys. I use carp rods but sometimes lighter again, carrying 5000 size baitrunner style reels loaded with 30lb braid🙂🎣

Nice and sheltered there , unfortunately I’m on the south east coast , the wind is freezing
These north/east winds won’t last forever and the south east is often the warmest place come the summer😎🎣☀️

Is the water clarity always muddy on the Bristol channel jensen?. I need to get down to fish the channel at some point soon for hounds, cod and also the mighty bass
Pretty much. If we have a settled spell of weather that coincides with neap tides, it will clear slightly, but visibility is still poor compared to many regions🎣
@@thegamblingangler think that's better really less visibility for the fish the more active they will be to find food won't they?
@@FishingWithJamie88 I think they’re very much tuned in to feeding on scent here, because they are effectively blind.
@@thegamblingangler thats the problem we have on the south coat the water is crystal clear and nothing is being caught at all but I will not give up there is a big bass or smooth hound waiting for me this summer and a few of ur videos have gave me confidence to try new business end tackle and bait thank u , keep the videos coming I'm enjoying the footage 😀😊

Awesome couple of sessions. I could have been out all day and not had a bite it looked that nice. Brilliant to see the codling and that bonus Bass was a beauty. Keep making them please 👍🏻

Other way round for me I knew the second mark but not the first! I know the Bristol channel very well and I didn't recognise it I can only think its on the Welsh side ?

@@thegamblingangler I know exactly where the seconds mark is I fish the little pebble bay right where the house is years ago just had small stuff but great location and what a great place to live whoever owns that house is very lucky also on the first vid were you on the Welsh side ?
