      You and me both. Maybe even do a poll on what to do. I like involving the community in the builds.

    Same with my old '91. Found piston skirt on an oil change. No symptoms, no other damage. New piston and 50k more miles with no issue.

    If I'm not mistaken, this is probably one of the most detailed video series on samurai mods ( if not the most detailed )

    Great vid!! I have low compression on my two center cylinders so I'm leaning towards head gasket. Do you recommend getting the head milled or just clean it up and reinstall?

      @ELKMotorsports  5 років тому +2

      ezzyeggy, when you take you're cylinder head to the machine shop, you can ask them to check it for you. It only takes a min or two for them to check out out for you. My machine shop checked it for me and told me it was all good.

    Any videos or advice on wiring up oval tail lights?

    • @ELKMotorsports
      @ELKMotorsports  6 років тому

      I installed and wired up my own brake lights with integrated reverse lights. And the tail light portion went from a 4 wire setup to a 3 wire setup.

    That metal looks like it wasn't broken out per se, but rather melted out. that web is a very thin section of the piston crown and will be prone to getting hot spots. it was probably detonating because of that hot spot, and as a result beating the piss out of already soft metal as well as heating it more. Its not a chunk floating around somewhere, but just fine aluminum sand. what did your wideband look like under WOT?

    • @ELKMotorsports
      @ELKMotorsports  5 років тому

      The wide band looked good, just prior to the turbo, I had a stock radiator that was clogged. The temp gauge always read 210°F, and the stock Sammy is supposed tio run at 180°F
