What an astonishing story of an experience that is almost otherworldly. I can not remember the last time I was so rapt by an entertainment narrative. THANK YOU, for posting it.
So enjoyed that story. I was lucky enough to interview both George & Bob & I can sooooo identify with the initial "holy shit" feeling upon meeting them....and it turns out, if you talk to them honestly, things go well.
Great story! I've known Bob since I was 17 . If he likes you and doesn't feel uptight he's terrific to be with and he obviously felt a good vibe with you!
Hey Smokie, 68 yrs old in England, i love Dylan anecdotes, and always had great respect for him, i had a message the other day from hom, but i think it was fake, why would someone do that, does he ever txt people out of the blue, you seem like a genuine kind person. Nigel.
You had me hanging on every word. I've heard many different stories from you over the years but this takes the cake! The fact that you ingratiated yourself to Dylan is a miracle in itself. Nice music bed at the end, btw, one of my favorite George songs.
Yep @davidwebster. Me too. I hung on every word. Like you I thought I'd seen/heard everything on Harrison , but yeah small bits in this video were new to me...and I've got ADGHoGHD[** ** attention deficit hyperactively tobsessed by George Harrison disorder Thank you for this gem, Richard. x Linda. ]
I love UA-cam! This popped up on the 'sidebar' when I was watching an Otis Gibbs video fro his station. Back in the day we would only been able to read about something like this in a magazine. So cool to be able to see people talk about things like this.
Thank you so much for this very human tale. I grew up with These best of musical friends, eve if they didn’t invite me to hang out. Feel like I know ‘Em a little better.
Thank you for telling me about your time spent with George and Bobby. I met Bobby too, we were both still quite young. I guess he hasn’t changed. I wouldn’t know, but for what I read and in his music & lyrics, as I haven’t had a chance or an opportunity to see him since, in 50 years. Sadly …as I fell in love with him too, surly…for so is his pull on choice hearts. And is true of woman that gazed into “those eyes” and found depths of love unknown to them …❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 “we never talked much anyway” “Some people you never forget, even though you only seen ‘em one time or two.” “Poet in “”the puddle’s”” of his heart” Lydia 🕊💕🕊
Fabulous stories , you lucky man. What a great job to have had. I don’t blame you for remembering every turn of events. Really enjoyed hearing your memories. Will keep an eye out for more , thankyou Regds mark waters in the uk
Rich, such a delightful, heart warming, heroic human soulful story! I love your heart & your friends too remembering we are all human, we all have needs & wants. You explained how his music impacted you but your sons even more impactful, which in turned was Bobs prayer & hope that his music or any musician (worth their salt & light) reaches the next generation. Thank you for sharing with us all.
Just randomly watching videos after listening to "Political World" and I stumble across this incredible, incredible story - expertly told. You made my evening, thank you.
My god what a fantastic story. You really get a sense of who George and Bob were and what they were really like. I would love to hear your son's thoughts on the MSG '74 show. The Oakland, CA show (next to last show of the tour, I believe) was MY first concert . . .
Bob was a patient in the hospital where I worked. He was under his real name. One of the physicians told me which room he was in. No security no special treatment at all. He was being treated for a pretty serious illness but recovered fully.
@@jrodriguez6 yes 1996 or 1997. The hospital is on Long Island and he was admitted under the name Robert Zimmerman. We saw many celebrities during summer months because many summered in The Hamptons and this hospital was the only level 1 trauma center closest to the Hamptons. He wasn’t my patient but news travel Ed fast.
@@NYCgirl927 Interesting. It was right before "Time out of mind", his comeback album. It was a serious health scare, it's great that he made it another 25 years in good health, touring and recording.
FANtastic! You must be Irish with your storytelling abilities, but I know (guess) your Albanian!🇦🇱 “ Wait, you want me to…cos’ you lost your phone book?” Priceless!😄
Why did Dylan take to Rich? Actually it's not complicated.. I'd say Bob Dylan is shy and inhibited, he lives within and is uncomfortable in his own skin. This man made him feel comfortable no perceived threat, he picked up on his energy and felt relaxed around him. The same happened with George. Some people you meet are like that. I picked it up in this man and maybe that's why he was sent.?
I have been a big fan of the Beatles and an amazing follower of Bob Dylan with his incredible poetry and his amazing songs. George as a single performer did not have the same power and change as Bob or the Beatles. His voice and lyrics were amazing but not life changing or world breaking new ground. An ordinary performer taking his power base from his part of the Beatles. My Sweet Lord stands out and will always be a favourite of mine. Life changing Dylan has extraordinary power and inspiration to the world.
George Harrison grateful guy how about that Harry Garcia Mother NEWS Bound Train Riding Story Teller w his Guitar he wore as a neckless good story keep talkin im in the appreciation business cheers aloha thank you for you
Both Dylan and the guys in The Band had mixed feelings about that 1974 tour. Sure it was "fun times" to be on the road together again, but they were both very much not in great shape and only participating as a cynical cash grab.
Sounds like Dylan has had enough BS conversations with people talking a lot but saying nothing. Hearing someones actual truthful experiences must be refreshing

That was an amazing story. I wasn't sure if I could watch it for the whole 13 minutes but I was mesmerised

that was great..
How totally cool
Fascinating story. Yeah, I could sit and smoke a joint with Bob Dylan. That would be surreal.
Not sure if you're misremembering or what, Richard, but Toronto was not the first stop on the Dark Horse tour. Vancouver was, on 2 November 1974.
George was my favorite Beatle.
That man was so cute
👌👌😎
Man i bet George was so nervous meeting Dylan
Did they stay at the Royal York?

I saw Harrison at Madison Square Garden in '74. His voice was shot, sounded like sh*t.
The second T in Toronto is silent, that's just because Canadians talk funny. Cheers eh, great story.
I think Paul McCartney's first joint came from Bob Dylan.
That was so cool and dignified

Should've been better than it was. Dylan made up for it tenfold with Rolling Thunder a year later though.
Sounds like Dylan has had enough BS conversations with people talking a lot but saying nothing. Hearing someones actual truthful experiences must be refreshing
I have no life
Is Bob Dylan woke?
