Always good these pod casts, I think you can confuse some people though as you sometimes refer to Europe and not the European Union, e.g. you say people can live freely in any European Country, but they can’t, there are 23 Countries in Europe that are not in the European Union. Also Codice Fiscale in UK English is callled a National Insurance number, Tax Code is the code that dictates at what rate you are taxed at and can change every year.
I think some people get confused and think that since they have the passport they will always belong to the European Union. I truly believe that it is dependent on that country that you get a EU passport from. If x country chooses to leave the Union unless you have another EU passport you will leave with x nation.
This is partly what motivated me to pick up another EU citizenship. I got Italian citizenship and as the process was coming to fruition, I also attempted to obtain polish citizenship (both by descent). I ran into complications with Poland (records I needed were apparently destroyed during World War 2) but as I was giving up on that, I then discovered I had a claim to Austrian citizenship! So I went for it and got it! A bit of a whirlwind for me but I feel better having a second EU citizenship, just in case!
Any chance of exploring moving to Spain as an Italian citizen? Is it fairly much the same? We're moving to Spain, we own property there before I became an Italian citizen.
