Thank you Jeven. I'm a commercial truck driver and bought a camera drone to film some of my destinations across the U.S. and started out with a 14-megapixel low-cost option 3 years ago. I recently researched and bought the Mavic 3 Fly-More and RC Pro controller and even though there are some very good talents on UA-cam, you have stood out in examples and explanations for the novice. I never want to exclude any other professionals in your field, I can only say that some of them don't take into account that "we" are not all professional photographers and sometimes we have to pause the videos to get definitions or explanations and then resume the footage. I appreciate and get great knowledge from "all" of the contributors and will watch them all, but there's a lot of highway across America and thanks to all of you maybe I will create something and brag about you all. Thanks again, Johnny.
That's just incredible. I remember how I got a DJI Phantom 3 couple of years ago. Now I'm just on a DJI Mini 2. Technology is evolving so rapidly lol and DJI is doing such a good job. + Really nice video to watch:) thanks and keep it up
Arrghhhh, every time I watch one of your drone videos I'm sure I need to buy a drone (which I definitely do not need to do)! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I think before anyone ever touches a smart feature on the Mavic 3, they should have great insurance. I am literally sweating when I use tracking. Trust me, you’re glad you’re doing this from Mars without literally an obstacle within 5 miles.. Because, any normal trees, cell phone towers or powerlines are going to give you a totally different experience.
It looks like the Mavic 3 has learned some tricks from the Skydio 2 as far as tracking and following you. Active Track 5.0 is a nice upgrade. Great testing.
Hi Jeven. That's really cool to see that this active track works a lot smarter! When my Mavic 2 Pro is getting old, I may consider buying this :) Thanks a lot for your videos, I watched many of them and I managed to grow my travel channel thanks to some of your tips, soon 50k :) If you ever come to Switzerland, let me know; I know almost every corner in this country. It's quite cool to drone here, especially in the Alps. Have a merry Christmas soon!
Love this but where do you put the controller? I would have to be able to put it in a bag, would that work though? Or would that cause big issues with tue controls being pressed.
Thanks for the video, so in your opinion, taking wipeouts into consideration, do you think this drone will track a surfer during a 30 minute session? If it loses the surfer, does the surfer have to get out of the water and go to the controller to reset everything again?
Excellent tutorial, seems like I may have followed you back in the day when I was shooting weddings. I don't shoot weddings any more, but sure wish I could get my Mavic 3 to follow me on my motorcycle as it does when I'm walking or driving the car. I've seen others have active track 5.0 follow them just fine on their motorcycle, but I can't even get it to follow me in a circle in an empty parking log with a bright yellow shirt on. Any tips what I may be doing wrong would be much appreciated. It seems like I need to change the tracking icon to a car, boat or anything other than a person because it's just not tracking fast enough and I'm not going any faster than you were on your mountain bike. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact I'm on a Harley Road Glide with a large fairing obscuring part of my body? It that a reach? Thanks again for a great instructional video.
Something that nobody seems to be mentioning with Active Track 5.0 is that you can now shoot in 60fps. I've had two DJI drones and they could only shoot at 30fps, which didn't conform to my 24fps project timeline (annoyingly). The fact that Active Track now works at 60fps is great news and to be perfectly honest THE most important new update as far as I'm concerned! It is annoying that you can't shoot DLOG still, but I'm hopeful that this will come in time with another update....here's hoping. EDIT: Am I to assume that "point of interest" mode is only available at 30fps, as that's what's showing on the display when you use that function? If so, that's annoying...
Thx for another great video, much appreciated. Is that new feature to set up where the drone is going to follow the subject from only available formou-se Magic 3?
Love the video.. I have the Mavic 3 Cine with the pro controller, where did you get the bike mount? I do a lot of cycling, and since those controllers are about $1200 dollar, don't want to drop it.. Just checked amazon, and they are showing the wrong controller for the bike mount.. thanks.
Dude ! Best test of its kind on UA-cam ! I'm in the market for my first drone. I will be using it for solo outdoor camping recording so its crucial that the active tracking records me from sides and front so I think I will pay the extra to get the activetrack 5.0 and get mavic 3 . Or do you think that DJI would make a firmware update to Air 2S and allow Air 2S users to also have activetrack 5.0 ? Thanks so much, regards from Turkey ! Tugi
Thank you Jeven for your detailed video in regards to Active Track 5.0. Here's where I'm confused. If your controller (standard or RC Pro) is emitting a signal in order to control your Mavic 3 than why doesn't the Mavic 3 or any other drone just track the controllers signal in regards to distance and height? It's painfully obvious that active track 5.0 at best struggles to accomplish what the software is trying to do. It just seems that any active track configurations that uses visual recognition is going to fail anytime something blocks the image it's visually tracking. Why can't DJI figure out a way to just track your controller which is constantly emitting a signal to the drone? Thank you Jeven.
I used it to track me to the Geographical Centre of Alberta thru the forest. It did have a few issues among the trees but most times if you look back at the Mavic 3 it thinks it should move around to the front again and it does it a few times thru the trees. I trust it.
I just tried the active track for a boat and I was having a lot of trouble keeping track of the boat, it kept tracking the waves behind the boat after a few seconds for many different boats, and it was very stressful how do I fix this and what am I doing wrong??? I was using spotlight also , Someone please help and thank you so much in advance!!
Hey! One question about your quote regarding the Air 2S a little before the 10min mark. You said that while using active track it would have collided with the hill potentially. Is this because the Air 2S is incapable of adjusting its altitude while using Active Track or is it because you were tracking to the side and it doesn't have side-to-side collision sensors? I was hoping Active Track could at least follow behind or in front and follow up or down hills without crashing on my Air 2S although I haven't had a chance to fly it yet, just got it.
Ty only thing i dont like about active track is you have to use remote to set it, by the time you put the remote away 25% of the battery life is gone smh
Finally. 5 years later than expected in 2022 DJI drone can do basic tracking uphill and downhill . Yay .-) but i see still missing objects damn :-/ even with simple one bush and turn . Lol another 5 years maybe for them to fix this ?
Tried tracking a 66 foot yacht today while just sitting in the water and it couldn’t stay on the boat. It’s pathetic like everything else with this release.
I tried launching my Air 2 off my kayak to track while on an adventure and the drone literally just freaked out trying to dive bomb me and the water. It was crazy lol

how do you like your mavic 3?
You are a genius!!!
2:44 fantastic mic+lanyard combo. This is going to make things so much easier!
Haha I was using my insta360 go2 lanyard and it worked perfect!
Spotlight feature deserves a spotlight! It's a very useful drone function and one of my favorites!
Thanks Jeven! :) Always love seeing when you come out with a new video.

Dji needs to come out with a beacon like Skydio. Skydio no longer in the consumer business.

Hello boss
@@hendranandradrone7064 hi
dude where did you mount the controller while you were riding?
Thanks for this. I actually might get the Mavic 3 now with all this added features from the latest update. Such a premium drone.
Thanks for the detailed testing!
Hey where did you get the bike mount for your rc?

The active track update definitely looks like it has improved things! It'll be interesting to see it put to the test in other environments!
A very interesting video supplementing information on: Active Track.

Sub count is looking great.
Thanks for sharing bro
Keep rocking dude as always ❤️💪
I bought your LUTs. Very cool! What RC bike mount do you recommend? Thanks!
Thanks for the reviews. Great work of yours. When did you update the active track hyperlapse updates?
Want to see how tracking performs on higher downhill speeds. DJI should add feature where the drone can track the remote. Something like Skydio does.
Hello
Good review-
amazing active track 5.... you are a genius brow
Where did you put the remote? Do you have a bike mount?
Yes
Best video on Active-track. Would a colored jersey or helmet improve background contrast thus prevent losing track behind temporary obstacles?
i really enjoy this
What mount are you using for the radio?
Hello bro mavic 3 very 👍🏻
At 12:50 did it run into the grass??
No. It avoided the grass everytime
So far I have viewed a numberapproaching 400 videos and articles on the Mavic 3. I would rate this video in the first top ten. Thanks!
great science..hightect mind

Is that new feature to set up where the drone is going to follow the subject from only available formou-se Magic 3?
Wish there were more options to customize the Active Track but all in all it's improved a lot compared to previous active track!
Hey I'm new to this, how do you speak while the drone is in the air? Do you have an additional microphone or does it pick up sound waves via remote?
What controller mount do you use on your bike?
Great AT test, it shows if the user works with the automation you can get really good results. Thank You.

Plz can u do a video how you put your voice while riding bicycle and merge it with the drone video and also how to remove the drone sound propellers
such a cool technology!
Hope they fix this issue so that we can use 5.1k and D-log and active track soon. Good review on this subject Jeven. 👍
Thanks for sharing. I returned my Mavic 3 but maaaaaaaybe will re-purchase down the road. Too many issues for now.
Are you rocking the Shimoda Action x30 or x50 in this video?
Would you say that Active Track 5.0 is enough to warrant an upgrade from the 2S?
The battery life and low light performance is 👌🏻
MUCH bigger step in price!
Great video. Wish DJI makes a special handlebar mount for the controller.

@@JevenDovey thanks!!!
Can you take stills with timed shot while using the active track?
Imagine if you had a friend controlling the drone while you were doing your thing. That would be truly epic.
So can you set the height first before starting active track? So you can see more from the serroundings as well...what are the height options?
So, it works on a slow moving object. But how about if you're hauling the mail at 30mph or better? Say, on an dirt bike? Moto track?
Will work in sport mode but the sensors wont work so you just need to watch obstacles that you might encounter
27mph max as of today. Hopefully it improves.
@@51Drones Oh didn't realize it maxed out at 27mph right now. Hopefully they don't leave that limit on in future firmware updates
@@JevenDovey I don't know if it's an intentional limit.
Thx : ) in your vid I heard you say no d log but also no prorez in active track ?? Is that correct ? Thx
hmm, this vid gave me an idea for DJI, anyhow im pretty sure soon active track Will nott lose its subjects. Great Video!
You mentioned syncing a DJI mic with the drone video???
Has anyone had issues with the tracking after some recent updates?
Don’t worry just saw at the end only 4K 60 FPS no D-Log. Awesome vid thanks!
When using the tracking can you specify how high/low and close/far the drone will be from you?
But why Active Track is not working on D-Log..?
Can you control the height of it in these modes? Like if I want it super high ?
Looks like there is a second page of options in Active Track mode (2 dots in the circle and arrows). If so what are they? Thanks
When You use active track, you configure security - update RTH to folow RC? or not?
Spotlight and D-Log: Same limitation with the air 2S? (They don’t work together?)
Nice but speed is so slow :( Skydio 2 track at full speed on descent :)
Chapeau!
Can you set hight during active track
yes

Why do those white and black lines show up as seen in the first few seconds ? Is it a fault?

Thanks, mine does it a lot lol. I’m very green when it comes to videography
don't like how its tracking from so far, can you adjust the distance its tracking you from?
Yes.
I really don't understand why, when the drone lose you, it don't rely on gps position to continue the tracking and regain the subject.
Better with Skydio. :)
I agree that the camera is better on DJI but skydio 2 camera the 60 frames at 4K and that's awesome I have both
Wish they’d add active track to mavic mini, it must be able to do it, it can do it during quick shots, would be awesome
Weird as the older dji spark has it, then again no sensors on the mini
If they do that may decrease air 2 2s sales. Since mini is perfect for global travelers
