  • Is it cool to buy a Relic'd guitar? Are you a poser if you buy a Relic'd guitar. What if you buy a truly Relic'd Guitar that is very expensive and Relec'd by someone famous. I say buy the guitar that you want and damned be the haters.

That surf green tele is rad and I dig the strat pickup in the neck position!
Regarding relic'ing, I think it's more of a preference. I enjoy a relic'd guitar (natural or done on purpose). I would buy a pre-relic'd guitar as long as the relic'ing doesn't seem over done.

    Great video👍
I’m reaching 50 years old. I’ve been playing for 36 years. 50% of my collection is reliced, and the rest clean. I have one guitar I bought new 25 years ago. It’s pretty beat up from hard gigging..
(My own wear) I just love all guitars. I just recently bought a heavy relic custom shop strat.. if I bought a clean one, it would take me 40 years plus to get it to the reliced state that the custom shop looks like.
Meaning .. I would be 90 years old by the time it had the worn in look I want! Screw the haters.. buy what the hell you like 🤘😉

Pete Thompson great observation and exactly what I was saying. If you can wear it’s great and you can own it and if you can’t it’s all good and you have a gutiar you love

My first strat (a cheap '92 pacifica) is now through its 5th owner and still looks barely used, even at the back of the neck. So relic away, life is too short to worry about what people might think.

Relic'd guitars are guitars that someone has gone through a process of making them appear to have had some use and abuse. You know, kinda like a pair of jeans that are all cut up to make it appear as if It's been worn. It's not cool for the jeans, or the guitar to make it appear as though it has been used to the point of being worn out by a true musician. If you want a guitar like Stevie Ray Vaughn's just tie it to your trailer hitch and drag it from gig to gig. Because it is posing in my opinion.

thanks for adding to the conversation. I know it's a polarizing topic. To Truly Relic a guitar takes a lot of nights days and just forever putting your hands and body on a guitar. I get, but to each is own. if you manage to actually Relic your own guitar then it's WAY MORE special than having purchased that Relic.

@@JeffKeel I truly appreciate my guitars. They are never going to be relic'd, for two reasons.
      1. I take care of them.
      2. I suck so bad that black holes run from me soooooooo, not going to happen. I'm 62 and I have just recently begun to play (like 6 months ago).

    Can you unrelic a guitar?

Nebby Noo112 certainly can. A fresh coat of paint will fix it.
