Friends I didn’t mention or expand on some things in this video that I needed to! 1) I want to make clear the social political points in this film only took me out because I like to watch films that are escapism. I don’t care if they are left leaning or right leaning opinions. 2) There’s a good bit I did enjoy I just believe the chaos and slow start sours the film. The aesthetic, some songs, some jokes, and few performances! 3) I was very sour in this review because I had very high and somewhat unrealistic expectations since I’ve grown up with the classic. Nonetheless enjoy my review and it’s a solid 5 maybe 6 out of 10. Enjoyable to a degree but highly flawed that sours it for me! Have a nice day 😊
I didn’t think it was a mess. It is a good sequel with additional talent. The direction of Tim Burton and the return of specific central characters from the original resurrected the dark humor that made the original funny.
Beetlejuice is definitely one of my favorite films and this sequel was just crazy. I agree with pretty much everything you said. It’s just a mess, the stop motion looked horrible and most the characters were not likable. Lydia is one of my favorite characters of all time and I just hate what they did to her character in this film.
@@Kovu3 I agree that Lydia wasn’t handled well. She felt like an old woman impersonating both Lydia and Joyce Byers from Stranger Things but the old woman has become Joyce since Joyce has consumed her life for like the past 8 years! Very bizarre to see
As an old (literally lol) Beetlejuice fan, maybe I can shed some light on one of your questions: Beetlejuice isn't running the underworld. Rather, he's running a small business IN the underworld. In the first movie, he advertises himself as a Bio-Exorcist--someone who can get rid of the living for ghosts who are haunting houses. That's why the Maitlands originally summoned him, before realizing he was a bit more than they could handle (and before he decided to try to dupe Lydia into marrying him so he could come to the world of the living permanently, which is incidentally why he still is trying to marry her in this one). When you listen in on some of the phone calls the Bobs are taking, it's clear they're customers looking to have their houses/dwellings rid of living people. So basically he's just expanded his business enough to have a call center--definitely not in charge of anything! As for the movie, I think it just tried to cram WAY too many plots into the runtime it had, which left the whole thing feeling rushed while also giving none of the storylines time to develop. (I also called the bit about the dead kid being dead the instant I saw him, because omg predictable). I frankly think they could've cut the entire subplot with the dead kid and have Lydia just find the Maitlands' copy of the Handbook, and decide to try to get to the underworld herself using the door method or something. I also felt like the subplot of Beetlejuice's ex was shoehorned in super awkwardly and could also have easily been cut.
@@AuralayKristine thank you for clearing that up for me. I was pretty confused on that aspect of the film and I felt like the way he was in the underworld showed us that he had a lot of power and control. But it makes sense that he’s just become successful at the bio-exorcist routine!
I agree it was messy and I would change a lot but I still enjoyed it and had a good time, idk i'm a sucker for the ghost with the most and was happy to see Keaton get to be him again. I think every BJ scene is great but the rest of the film falls a tadd flat, but I actually enjoyed the other characters as well, I didn't expect to like Delia Deets so much but I actually thought she was pretty funny. But man there was so much diffirent stuff going on and a lotta plotlines that kinda.. didn't do much in the end. I still enjoyed it and think it could have been so so so much worse, especially with how movies have been lately.. good god i'm glad it wasn't another ghostbusters 2016
I wanted to let you know that I was unable to watch the video due to the low audio quality. Despite this, I still gave it a like because it caught my attention enough for me to click on it and attempt to watch it. I hope you can take this as constructive criticism and improve the audio quality.
Bro, ur like 15, lol! Much of this review is oure irony. If someone can figure ur opinion from a thumbnail, it'd be a great idea to change it btw. Great movie with a messy plot. Super entertaining movie, tho. One of the most in a longtime. Sorry, I agree with MoistCritical in this one. Gl with ur channel, tho.
