Here's my animation of the Triassic Cuddle! Started a YT channel because Tiktok's post flagging system has banned me from posting for a week, due to alleged guideline violations that I've been incorrectly flagged for.
While that's getting sorted out, figured it was a good time to start building on another platform that isn't IG, because I dislike its setup, and isn't Tiktok because they're kinda screwing me over! :)

worst thing is, broomistega (the little amphibian) was already badly injured before this happened. The little guy just couldnt catch a break
Yep some of the fossil remains also suggested it died a very painful way because the bone gets shattered from the force of the flood in the burrow
(Based on a true story from fossil records probably since a fossil was found of a synapsid with a broomistega in the burrow

The natural events ravaging outside while they comforted each other in the burrow was what did it for me. The way you turned the concept of a fossil into a story that made me cry in less than 30 seconds is genius. This animation is incredible and your storytelling abilities are AMAZING. I could write a whole paper about why I love this.

I don't usually cry, but this flipped a switch for me. I guess the thought of the world ending and just wanting comfort in your last moments hits something in me
It was a flash flood, dw lol. There was supposedly two mammalian fossils who were in the same burrow together (likely parent and offspring) when the earth was struck by the asteroid of the gulf of Mexico.

It always fucks with me to think that millions of years ago, before anyone or anything I would ever recognize was born, other creatures roamed the earth.
They weren't like us, sure. But they loved, struggled, fought, and _lived_ , the same as any other living being.

But everything else is right and as i see this video isn't about the great dying, it's just showing a storm and these animals are also not dinosaurs. So this video is very accurate, or am i wrong?
@@zineddinkenai then he was certainly wrong because the times of the event are recorded and matches up with either a flood or rapid rain.. it is impossible for it to be the great dying
This fossil can never be separated, they’ve been able to see how it looks fully through more advanced imaging. So, they’ll forever cuddle one another.
i don't care if the real reason this happened was something else. this is what i'm gonna believe happened. just two animals scared and wanting comfort

Exactly how it happened! It was very hot in the desert they live and the amphibian had broken its ribs a few weeks before and to escape the heat he found the burrow. Then soon enough there was a flash flood and a slab of mud covered them, only to be discovered 250 years later

Imagine having your unimaginably more evolved planetary descends, millions of years in the future, being compassionate and getting emotional over your death. Humanity is beautiful sometimes.
I agree that it’s beautiful but just a small correction, we’re not more evolved. “More” implies evolution has intent or finish line when it is about adapting to an ever changing environment. Evolution doesn’t necessarily make an animal more complex or better.
Sometimes evolution is a previously seeing species becoming blind because if they live in a dark environment then theres no longer a selective pressure to be able to see. Sometimes a you get a single celled dog (partly the fault of phylogeny tbh).
Anyway, point is it’s more scientifically accurate to say “more intelligent” than “more evolved”.

this animation is just full on amazing. i am just in awe with how you animated this, the details like the thrinaxodon and broomestiga's eyes widening when thunder crashed and them curling each others tails together. it's so sad to me that broomistega had died first and that thrinaxodon's death was followed seen by the bubbles from it. i just love this animation so much, amazing work!!!!!!

Even though this is just an animation and this happened millions of years ago I started crying. Everything to the song the art style and the little motions the creatures make just- god. Imagine, it’s the end of the world and you’re just a little- lizard thing, you enter a hole to find another animal already there and you’re supposed to be enemies but instead you spend your last few moments in that hole, with that other creature. It just- makes me cry.
That small animal was a anphibian, not reptile.

These animals are ancient and extinct; quite possibly the farthest thing from humans and yet they seemingly did what many humans nowadays don’t seem to do and showed compassion for one another in a time of struggle. I think that’s what makes it so emotional 😢

The way their tails curled together during the storm...literally crying rn. It's the smaller details that count to make a great story in animation.
The lizard at first walked into the den and got surprised and kinda was like “oh…you’re here, i-I’m sorry to bother i can leave?” But the mammal was like “n-no it’s okay…it’s scary outside you can come” all without saying a single thing. I’m not crying you rae

The “lizard” is actually a Broomistega, an amphibian, and the “mammal” is a Thrinaxodon, an advanced reptile (by early Triassic standards, at least)!! :D it’s an adorable little animation depicting the fossil Triassic Cuddle
Hope this doesn’t sound like “um ackshually” stuff, i just really like the Triassic Cuddle and wanna try to get other people into palaeontology :DD

I had 3 blue belly lizards and one guina pig in my large fish tank. In the winter time the lizards were sitting on top of the guina pig for warmth 😂 they were total cuddle buddies.
I don’t think Thrinaxodon had external ears, but that’s a small nitpick-this is a lovely animation and I’m glad this fossil is getting some love!

If you look closely as the thunderstrike happened, the Thrinaxodon (fox looking creature) hugs the Broomistega tightly.

I don’t usually cry over things I watch, I may get upset from them or feel a bit sad, but this was just breathtaking. You have such amazing storytelling- I literally felt a tear run down my cheek. I think this is the first time I’ve ever cried over something I watched in ages.

It’s so sad yet so beautiful. I’m sad because I feel horrible that animals had to indoor that without a clue in the world. But it’s so beautiful to know that the earth can do so much.

I just realized. In the first lightning flash, both animals react in surprise, but in the second only the Pseudo mammel or whatever it's called reacts, and when the water they are the only one to lose air. Yes I know the other is an amphibian, but they were also heavily injured. Do you think it died before the flood, thus the Mammal ended up dying alone?
