Because the Japanese have great respect for German manufacturing skill, and as such most non-Japanese, non-alien mecha in Mecha Anime tend to be German. So there.
@MetaKnight345: I am not exactly sure why, but if you notice every mecha anime tends to pick a certain language for their machines to be named after. The original banpresto machines tend towards german names, and given how this one is based off the OG series they inherited the german names. Of course, a few of them are also directly brought from the previous games
Here's the real backstory on the TRUE Alteisen Nacht. In the Shadow Mirror dimension...Kyosuke Nanbu ends up giving in to the Einst...and it infects the Alt, and him...causing him to lose his mind...he moves on to kill everything and everyone around him, including the SRX Team...and in the fight with Soulgain, after the right arm is sliced off, the Einst finally manifests itself in the machine, changing the Alteisen into the beast-like Alteisen Nacht... This one, however, is a miniaturized custom version of the original Alt.
@@cybeastteehee the SRX part is from the anime adaptation but in the Drama CD, Beowulf singlehandedly defeated the Shadow Mirror, some SM soldiers say something about him destroying both foes and allies alike, before going to Soulgain. But the Drama CD makes it sound like the Nacht just regrowing back its arm while its size stays the same and it has trouble entering the hatch, which means its normal size the same or even bigger than Soulgain.
Germany is well-known for its engineering, or at least perceived as such in pop culture. That's one reason why a lot of Real Robots, which are known for having more "realistic" and mechanical designs than Super Robots, are given German names. Also, you forgot Haken, which means Hook. He's named after Captain Hook from Peter Pan, hence the Zeit Krokodil (tick tock, tick tock) and Neverland.
to post above, riese is giant, so alteisen riese literally means old/scrap iron giant. to posts below, gespenst mk III is the official codename for the alt. in the shadowmirror universe, mk III replaced the mk II and kept the name of gespenst, and the kyosuke of that universe gained the callsign beowulf for his excellent use of said mech, which was blue. in og universe, mk III didn't replace mk II, and kyosuke named it alteisen when it was given to him, and its red. so both are right.
The name Alteisen Nacht is Actually Joke name Given by Excellen, Kyosuke's girlfriend when Kyosuke try to fool some DC Remnants. Turned out it is not success after all and Repainted it Back. Kyosuke is not good at spying after all LOL And this Alteisen Nacht is Official Name Given as EF Version. And this Version is not Large, just 3 Meter In Size. Just like some Statue with Machine, it's just an A.I Robot after all. sorry if i got the wrong Info
+IndoneVoid The info is correct. In Endless Frontier, Alteisen Nacht was built based on the original Alteisen which is a 60-meter size Personal Trooper found on board the crashed Neverland battleship. It has all the weapons and attacks from its predecessor and it does some damage. Here are list of the Nacht's moveset shown below: - 5-round chain gun - Revolving Breaker - Shield Claymore (mounted on the chain gun on its left arm) - Layered Claymore, and - Trump Card (Kirifuda), its finishing move just like the original Alteisen.
@jrm102 I'm guessing that it also involves the fact that they did have some cunning strategy as well as some lethal weapon at their disposal (like the gas that made soldiers' lungs go out of the body with heavy coughs which I don't know the name in english). Also the Gundams had some germany in it like SEED.
@MetaKnight345 this a recurring theme in anime and video games from japan many names for things are either german or spanish one example is bleach, the bounts dolls and arrancars zanpakto are german and spanish respectively
It's easy to miss. Haken transliterates perfectly to and from katakana, and that leads people to assume one of two things: Either it's Japanese, or it should be transliterated differently. That's why so many people called him Harken before the game came out... And continue to do so, insisting it's "the original and true Japanese name".
Axel: Mk-III… We meet again *BEOWULF!* Edit: This is the Nacht version in the Shadow-Mirror world who was infected by the Einst just like Berk Eva-01 but bigger size
Considering the track it is referring to the non infected one built in endless frontier as an autonomous weapon in Agrado Heim after finding the schematics in one of Shadow Mirror’s crashed ships that didn’t make it to the OG universe. Still wish the model got more attention along with the other shadow mirror models of OG personal troopers
That's the Alteisen Reise Painted in blue, because the the Alteisen Nacht from the endless frontier doesn't have the weiss spare parts in the back (the wings)? And could you share a link for the image? It's very cool.
@MetaKnight345 i know this is 2 years late but it's just a fascination for another culture, just like americans are fascinated with asian culture. personally, german sounding names are kinda badass too...
@MetaKnight345 Uhh, Riese means Giant, but, yeah, apparently it's a rule that 95% of mechs' names can only be German and Japanese. Don't forget the Aussenseiter!
Astranagant is named after two gun companies named Astra and Nagant. BTW I wonder if anyone is willing to make a Alt Eisen costume, seeing how Nacht is human sized.
...My friend built me a fiberglass Unicorn Gundam Banshee suit...then I told him to build the Unicorn for him...he did...and we went to a Halloween party with them on...the Armed Armor modules were heavy as fuck...I couldn't feel my arms after a while...so I put them down...he's a damn mechanical and technical genius...he took 4 years of college in design and drafting...and also another 2 in computer design...he's a damn genius when it comes to making shit like that...I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to do something like that...
Some of the characters are named from fairy tales Aledy Nash- Aladdin Neige Howzen- Snow White ( Neige is french for Snow white ) Haken Browning - Captain Hook ( Peter Pan, Haken means Hook ) Dorothy- Wizard of Oz The Orchestral Army ( The Musicians of Bremen ) : Ezel- The donkey Henne Valkyria- Hen or Rooster Kyon- The dog Katze Kotolnos - The cat
@MetaKnight345 Have you also noticed all the Aerogators have names relating to Judaism? Have you noticed that in the OG1 it's the German named super mechs fighting against hordes of the 'evil aliens' with Jewish names?
@MetaKnight345 Not my fault you made the comment without full knowledge of how it was used. Same thing happens to me when I post something incorrect and someone comes to correct me like once or twice a week.

That's what gives it a badass look! It looks like it fought in 5 wars!
I love it just for that image. XD
Ahhh, the Nacht, such a powerful unit, but at the same time such a pain in the ass to deal with during the boss battles, honestly >_
Yeah, that arm-mounted claymore is absolute bullshit.
Also:
"Haken" = "Hook"
"Gespenst" = "Phantom"
@Chief889
Both. Personally I call Beowulf's mech the Gespenst MkIII.
I either call the Alt the Alt, or an upgraded MkII S/its sussessor.
@MetaKnight345
I thought Reise meant Giant, as in "Giant Scrap Heap." Alt Eisen Riese. :P
@MetaKnight345: I am not exactly sure why, but if you notice every mecha anime tends to pick a certain language for their machines to be named after.

The one in the picture is probably a fanart of SM Kyosuke's Gespenst Mk III if it were upgraded into the Riese.
Here's the real backstory on the TRUE Alteisen Nacht. Kotaro, Shinra Agent
That's sounds like it's based off the anime
AltEisen Beowulf Not quite...it's close, but it's actually the real story.

Altstein, Weissritter and Gespenst is a M-size mech in the games, that actually a Gundam-size (around 20 meters)
I see. Thanks for the correction.

@teamrocket87 Pretty easy if a bit paint intensive. Just paint the Alt Reise kit blue.
@MetaKnight345
Reise is used as "giant". As in Alt Eisen Reise. "Old Iron Giant".
@MetaKnight345 The creator of Alt and Weissy, Dr. Marion Radom, was German in-game.
@MetaKnight345 this a recurring theme in anime and video games from japan
many names for things are either german or spanish

I'm pretty sure the Gespenst MkIII is red though
Alteisen Nacht is Nanbu Kyosuke's robot

model kit customizers out there do customize this,lol(the model kit)looks deadly+evil~

So I see. The "precious" bit I can do without, and stand corrected.
It's the same reason we love using latin and greek words for our english word library. For example, arachnophobia.
forgot to add, Weissritter
This is Nacht theme music
@MetaKnight345 Uhh, Riese means Giant, but, yeah, apparently it's a rule that 95% of mechs' names can only be German and Japanese. Don't forget the Aussenseiter!

Aledy Nash- Aladdin
Neige Howzen- Snow White ( Neige is french for Snow white )

@MetaKnight345 correction, riese = giant
Reise? I think you mean Riese as in Giant

Its...cool...but a bit...extrange...
The head is...a bit...small...but still coool.
Same reason Bleach has so many spanish names? To make you question it as we are now?
Well, perhaps Banpresto is obsessed with German. It does sound badass.
@crandor6
Alteisen is most definitely NOT a Metal Junk Giant D:
That picture is awesome. I need that as my new desktop now. Where did you get it?
@jca00001 don't suppose you recall the url or name of thise copycat game?
Nacht, not Natch. It's pronounced "knocked".
could someone give me a link to the picture here? not just srworld.net please
@MetaKnight345 Alt Eisen Rise = Metal Junk Giant
Alteisen
@poggg it makes me think of pastries. It doesn't sound cool at all.
Song is wonderful, but I really HATED fighting this guy....shoot, about all the mechs, I HATED FIGHTING in this game
