- The Akita Shinkansen connects Tokyo - Akita. In 2014, the entire fleet was replaced by the E6 Series.
The Odate-Naka level crossing is one of the few arch crossings in Japan.
At Morioka Station, you can see the very rare "coupling" and "disconnecting" of the Tohoku Shinkansen "Hayabusa" and "Komachi".

For those wondering, the name mini-Shinkansen comes from the fact that these trains are narrower than other Shinkansen. Since these run on lines and through stations that were designed for the narrow gauge railroads common in Japan, a standard Shinkansen would be to wide and not fit in with existing infrastructure on such a line. Once it reaches Morioka and is connected with the Hayabusa, the mini-Shinkansen will extend steps when being in a statin to ensure that passengers have no trouble with the gap that would otherwise exists between the train and platform.
Watching trains always brings aesthetic pleasure. Trains in Japan are wonderful.

3列の真ん中席も結構埋まってるんですよね。
車内販売があるはやぶさはいいですよね！これだけは、ずっと残ってほしいです！
いつもありがとうございます😆2,3年前よりもはやぶさ混んでる印象でした。仙台駅で真ん中の席も完全に埋まったので、私も今度行く時はやまびこ使ってみます💡のぞみ新幹線はグリーン車以外車内販売しなくなったらしいので、はやぶさはいつまでも続けてほしいです🚄

В Америке проблемы с железными дорогами. Они там в упадке. Переезды закрывают прямо пред самим поездом, а не заранее. После переезда могут ещё и светофор поставить. .

I was riding the Komachi last Sunday during my trip through Japan. Riding backwards in a Shinkansen was quite funny. And I have to say I love the colour and form of the Komachi

Great trip. Looks like Komachi when in Akita or all of these place in this video (except Morioka Station and Tokyo Station) running on same track with Conventional Train which is Narrow Gauge Track.

I think I read Morioka is fast becoming the number 1 city in Japan people would like to retire to.

I didn't used to be able to drive backwards either. But that has now improved or even changed completely. But of course I also prefer to drive forwards. The bento box looked really appetising.

Just imaging the same journey here in the UK, the train would be filthy and late if it arrived at all, would be noisy and get shaken to bits, there would screaming kids, people shouting down the phone, someone angry about luggage being stolen and a near fistfight with the person in my reserved seat.
The ticket and meal would be more than twice the cost for all those joys too.

Should have visited Ōkama Station during the winter. At that station, you can see eastbound _Komachi_ trains stop in a special area, where the trains are sprayed with warm water to remove the snow and ice buildup traveling from Akita before it reaches Morioka.

At the start screen, you can see a green banner on top, that appears to be the language selection, offering English as an option and I assume also Chinese and Korean, but it was too out of focus to make out the other languages.

als ich jeden tag zur arbeit und zurück nach hause pendelte, fuhr ich meistens auf der rückstrecke rückwärts gegen die übelkeit. wenn ich vorwärts fuhr rauchte ich einen joint im zug. damals gab's noch raucherabteile.
