I Love the Tormach Probe - But Where Do I Put It?

- Thanks for tuning in! I think this is a great solution for anyone with a Tormach passive probe. I designed this for my 1100MX, but it could work on other machines. Stay tuned for bonus content at the end of the video.

Another great addition is a handheld coolant sprayer. They’re useful for thoroughly flushing all the chips off the enclosure, table, etc. I made mine by plumbing a garden hose sprayer into the coolant pump. I use it by closing the valve for the coolant nozzles then turning on the coolant pump which feeds the garden sprayer instead of the coolant nozzles. The garden hose hangs out next to my air gun.
Thanks for the comment. Love your videos. I've (sort of) got a setup like that. I'm thinking I need to upgrade the coolant pump. Are you running the stock pump?
@@tj.schwarz yep stock pump. Haven't had any issues. I've had to close the garden sprayer nozzle down since wide open is way too much coolant
I suppose the fact that I'm running an in line filter is the main reason I'm seeing low pressure. I run it so I can machine phenolics.
Thanks for the STL files. Getting a Tormach 770MX in a couple of months and I'm going to print them now so I have them when I get my machine.
I’ve recently purchased the ZoomSpeed wireless probe kit for my 1100MX. Installing this weekend. Auto Probe Routines here we come!
I definitely need to look into that.
Cool design TJ, great spots you picked for both of them.
Hey that's a ProJot on the machine! Thanks for the shoutout! Super cool to see your videos, keep it up! I need to post a picture of the mount that I made for the probe inside of the machine.
Great video and thanks for sharing your .STLs!
I understand the thought of fixing a problem with a video to make more content, but as an alternative, I went with the KISS principle. I just run my cable over the top, and down along the spindle when In use, then when not in use, I just lay it on top of the enclosure in front of the left light. Because of the cable it doesn’t roll so it stays in place just fine. Also don’t need to use an extension cable. When not in use the cable hangs in the enclosure a bit, but doesn’t interfere with operations.
Awesome ideas!! Thanks for sharing 😊
Cool upgrade man 👌
Haha. I was just wondering if you was going to link a stl for those parts. Nice vid!
Thanks for these nice add-on ideas and agree, 3D printing for these makes total sense. While it was great that you specified 3M HVB tape and showed the roll, unfortunately there are still lots of variations that appear similar. And I can't find any unique part number for the version you're recommending. I'm guessing its a roll of 2" x 15ft(?) and that it's not the 'foam tape' variety, and
rather is the thinner film. Can you confirm and/or provide some additional detail? Thanks!
Hey, great content!! Is there any chance you could give measurements from the base out to the edge of the enclosure on each side? In the process of getting my 1100mx set up, and tormachs drawings are just overall size, and I'd like to position it just right. Thanks!
Design a really strong magnet into that design along with sections all 4 sides for tabe for extra security if ya really want. Personally I think a super strong magnet would be enough.
Do you have a link or what glue stick is that?
which holder did you use for holding passive probe for 1100mx?
A BT 30 holder that came with it from the previous owner. I'm not quite sure the details on it.
Did your extension cord for the probe come with the machine? Also great video I'm printing the holder now!
I ordered it from Tormach's website. I believe I just searched "probe extension cord" or something. Let me know how it prints!
@@tj.schwarz The print turned out great! Thank you!
What size facemill do you normally use? I have a 25mm, im thinking about getting a bigger one.
Truth be told I don't have one yet. Most of the parts I make are surface ground. I definitely need to get one soon.
@@tj.schwarz oh nice, im doing alot of big flat plate work, so would like something to get it done quicker. Keep up with the good content!

Converting the probe to wireless is pretty straightforward. See ua-cam.com/video/MiqecaMteso/v-deo.html
Since you have an ATC, it makes a big difference
convert the probe to wireless.

This Tormach company does not send products after customer approval. I'm reporting this.
I approved it on October 12th, 2021. Since then, I haven't received any additional products. Please be careful, everyone.
That's a strong accusation. What's the whole story? I've bought several items from them over the years (large and small) and never had an issue. And I don't recall seeing a similar complaint over the years of watching countless Tormach-related youtube videos. Did you call customer support? Did you actually pay for the quoted items? They're not going to ship you something that you haven't paid for... If you're serious, call them as ask for help/support/information.
The exact fact is that I paid by card on October 12, 2021, and Tormach is not only not sending the product but also not responding to any contact from me.
If there is another reason not to send the product, they have to explain to me, but no one in the company is responding. I think this problem lies in the attitude of American company Tormach to respond to Asian customers. I tried to connect through all channels such as Facebook, Instagram, UA-cam, and e-mail. He also said that if the product cannot be sent, you can refund it, but there is no comment at all.
This is a matter of racism. What will happen to an American in this situation? Do you understand?
@@chuljinbaek7937 no we don’t understand because we still don’t have the whole story.
