Hi ALL ,I love watching these sort of vlogs ,as you can learn SO much . As I don't come from a farming background .we had distant relatives had a darey farm ,AND there on milk round . I did a y.t.s. course when I was about years old . Working with horses ,but thay had sheep ,potatoes and cropes . I loved working there as there was so much to do .Thank you for sharing your day. Take care and all the best .😊😊😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍👍👍💖💖
Lookthe fact that your content is correct for the season, watched one as he planted pumpkins now, that was last year, haven't watched him since, realised then how out of time all his videos were.
Hi sam.id say about 500 on avarage.serious looking rams tho.oliver id say is very happy with his purchase.all will be known next april when they start lambing.hope they are lucky for ye.
Great looking rams! I can’t believe I picked the first place ram! Your teaching us great Sam!!😊 boy I can tell those lesser rams that are selling low. Big difference between them and the great ones!
a good run of rams there i would think. i don't know much about sheep but i guess it's much the same principal as with cattle.......good length and a good back and a good back end i guess. when they were judging the Texels i thought oh the one closest to you had good length and it turned that was the one that had 1st prize.......so i'm learning😀i'm guessing £620 average
450 but I have to say I was paying 500 for a ram lamb 20 years ago, so ram prices haven’t kept in line with fat lamb prices. Perhaps too many forward to command a better price. Good news for you. Peter’s little smily boy is quite a cutie.
@wendyrowland7787 Eddie, yes, he's full of smiles. Top price that day was £5000 for a beltex cross . I didn't catch that sell. Better trade at Bentham than Carlisle!
@@Sam-shutt Sam I have a little tale about a friend who breeds pedigree terminal rams. He went to Builth Wells ram sale, had the best ram in the bunch his fellow farmers agreed, but the judge ignored him. Later, the ram sold for the highest price with the judge also bidding in the hope of getting him cheap. The fellow farmers told the judge that it didn’t work out for him then. So my friend had the last laugh.
@wendyrowland7787 oooo sneaky!!! Glad he had the last laugh! Sometimes people don't agree with the judging place and one's that didn't win anything make more!
I don’t have any idea what rams are making over your side of the pond but if you wanted to put that bunch together over here you’d be looking at €700 to €750 which is what somewhere between 630 and 660 pounds let’s say 650 just to make it a round number, strangely enough the beltex texel crosses are probably making a bit more than the pure beltex, in fact they are making a fair bit more from what I’ve seen. Bought a few texels myself last week and they are standing me a shake over €850 on average and I think they were value. Regards from Ireland.
@Andy-ix2ox Yes, beltex cross were making more top price was £5000 for one. Then £2500 and £1350 first prize texel made £2300 all quality tups we're £1000 plus more commercial ram £500-£800 verry close guess! 😉😁
Hi sam here in denmark they have just announced a vaccine to try to prevent blue tongue in sheep i don't know if you have a vaccine for it in the UK, roy, denmark 😊
" the day you buy is the day you sell" and " an ounce of breeding is worth a ton of feeding " , we've been using Beltex since 96 and won many carcass competitions with them and they cannot be beaten on hoof or hook at any weight with the kill out and shape that the sheep industry desires. Your Beltex averaged £ 560 and id guess overall for 7 £ 575, to be honest the quality was brilliant and the commercial shepherd was spoiled for choice . Also I dont think you bought lot no 160 , I think Oliver stole him , what a skin and lenght ,depth, great shoulder and loin leading to a great back end with defined eye muscle and thigh with bright head and stylish locomotion. Well done
@emmett1739 he's my favourite lot 160.!! Thanks for your wonderful knowledge about beltexs.! Locomotion That's the word I was looking for when I tried to explain about the judging 🤣
500 pounds average great quality tups them that’s what I do I don’t keep them I sell mine for stores I only have 15 ewes looking forward for next years lambs my new ram lamb is Beltex cross Charolais
@@Sam-shutt well what I think to the Charolais is if it’s crossed with a Beltex it’s putting size to the Beltex and Charolais mature from 8 10 months old but I still wait till there shearling tho
@@Sam-shutt not really they are better for keeping to breed off I will after send some pictures I have a texel cross Charolais her dam was a mule cross texel actually the profile picture is the Charolais cross texel on UA-cam

It’s so good to see youngsters in the auction ring moving the sheep around Also in the show ring As you say what the tup has in its own ‘make up’ will pass on to future lambs and their qualities Keeps prices higher for ‘QUALITY And you get what you pay for 👍 👍 😍😍😄😄😊😊😃😃🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴❤️❤️❤️❤️
i dont like the look of some of them but i also hope you are after traits from them as i dont like them as breeding rams... ever after camp sure but there are also alright few that i would take as breeders.
Not a sheep man but one of the tups you showed on right hand side as it went away ( in last clip ) from you it’s right back leg looked out of shape compared to others
I assume that you can get the history of the ram ,, and does it make any difference if they are a single, twin, or triplet ??? just wondering there ...
@MarkSmith-rk3iv no it doesn't make a difference. Singles will be bigger than twins, but twins can grow just as well. There was a myth about twin tups being not fertile, but that might be bulls, not rams 🤣 can't remember wich way round
I would have said 525 another great video keep up the fantastic work. Would really like to know what the buying points are as a non farmer. Will you do anything health wise before you put them in with other sheep. Quarantine? Or do you know the sellers enough to know they will have done what is needed
@ianunwin we keep them separate. For a while. 1 for disease control and 2 they will fight and some cause a lot of damage when they do. I tried to get it out of him. On another sale video I will ask a judge for a run down. 😄😄
Nice Tups best of luck with them
