Not a bad idea At all. Creating a bond strategy allocation has its benefits. I have a small position in SPHD that I started 2 years ago. It's personally one of my favorites.
@@millionairemoneyminds Thank you for sharing! I have had it a little over a year. I was going to swap it out for something with more growth, but I noticed during 2022 it went down less than most everything else for me, including VOO. And with the growing dividend, I am thinking of hanging on to it for a bit of stability among my more volatile holdings. Thanks always for such high-quality content! 🌹
It's definitely a stability play. You may not see a ton Of growth over time but the trade-off is that you're not as exposed to volatility as other assets either. And when you take into account the reinvested dividend strategy it makes SPHD an attractive long term hold position for me.
I prefer voo. Can't go wrong with either but as u said.. that cheaper expense ratio could actually come out to be hundreds to thousands of dollars worth of difference in the long run. Voo has a slightly better growth rate and is a bit cheaper but still provides the same exposure to technology, Healthcare and finance. So imo you're essentially getting SPY but for cheaper lol.
What do you think of holding a small amount of SPHD as a part of an allocation for bonds?

Do you have a preference between SPY or VOO? As I’m starting my investment journey, the lower expense ratio makes VOO slightly more appealing.
