  • MC - Howell (Freehold) - Working Structure Fire - Brickyard Rd. - BOX ALARM
Around 1:15 AM Howell got a call for a reported structure fire. Police and FD responded PD arriving to say that the home was "Fully Involved". Fire crews arrived shortly after and started there attack with heavy fire throughout the home. Tankers were requested due to the lack of hyrdants. Naval Weapons Station Earl responded to the scene as well. The cause if the fire is unknown at this time but bystanders reported to hear a loud boom and then they walked outside to see fire through the roof already.

By time I got on scene they had more then one line in operation inside the home, heavy clutter inside and partial collapse of the BC corner also multiple holes throughout the floor limiting access

I really don't understand this at all. This was my childhood home. How sad they stood and watched it burn. My daughter was taking care of my mother who was elderly and recently passed away. My daughter had her stuff packed and was waiting to move hence the " clutter". Tax payers money being wasted with all that equipment and man power. And to the person that keeps asking " are you crying?" You would be if that was your family. What a shame some people are so ignorant.

LOL. That FF by the tree swinging their hips like they were at the dance club 🤣. Oh, and a great example set by the chief inside the doorway - wearing a SCBA with the mask dangling by his side in all of that smoke. At least the FFs had the sense to mask up. These vollies are just sometimes embarrassing.

Let's get all the monday night quarterbacks straighten out. Upon dispatch reported structure fire flames showing. This home was in a section of town not traveled much. Upon arrival by patrol flames threw the roof. Upon arrival 1st engine roof collapse crews worked with 3 handlines exterior until bulk of fire knocked. Then they went interior to finish extinguishing. As far as the Chief in the doorway he was the Ops Chief and was checking on a firefighter that tripped when he entered the home. What you don't see is 3 guys to left inside on handline, 3 guys in the back door and 3 to the right. What you do see is manpower pool in staging so that nobody freelances on the fireground. The job is dangerous enough either career or volunteer. I have seen many firefighters from both sides do things that are wrong. So before you cast negitive comments maybe on should ask the people that where there. As far as letting home burn down that is not any firefighters intentions. This fire especially since it was well involved prior to FD arrival. We should all be thankful that nobody was hurt or killed.

Could also be what they call a rit team. A rit team must be standing by incase a firefighter goes down. In that case they only go into the house to find and get him/her out.
Standing out front or close by is usually where they stage for quick response

I'm not watching anymore fire videos from New Jersey. The fireman just saunter around and seem to be in no hurry to put water on the fire like they do all across America, in most cases, make water on the fire a priority.
