Omg I love Louis so much. What he said was spot on. He was a good friend to Liam and had his back while not necessarily agreeing with the things Liam said. Plus he wasn’t afraid to call Zach out about his tweet, but in a kind way which was the right approach given that Zach is a generally nice person who made a mistake. Louis is such a top-notch human being.

It makes sense that Liam is trying to get us to like him; Liam was bullied. Early life for him was hard. Being born sick, being in pain for so long. Our childhood trauma is what shapes us. People made him feel like he was never enough. Like he was wrong for so long.
That has left an indelible scar on his person. No doubt, he has been traumatized and reminded of those moments of when he was bullied. No doubt, he felt like he was nothing, and no doubt, he’s scared.
I grew up with Liam, and no I don’t mean actually grew up with. I mean we’re the same age, I’m a bit older by a few months. I watched him in One Direction.
At first, he WAS kind of the leader. Not like directly, but he answered the questions the best. He was the most articulate. He was very mature. The other boys came into their own, and a few things happened then. He got pushed to the background, especially behind Harry. That’s got to fucking suck for someone who has felt irrelevant and forgotten. Especially with Harry becoming more successful.
The thing is….. Liam has ALWAYS had this kind of chip on his should. He’s always wanted people to like him. He’s always needed to prove himself. But he’s fragile too. He had too much thrown at him at once and he COULD NOT cope with it.
During that interview with Logan Paul, what I saw was an upset person, an angry person, and a hurt person. What I saw was Logan Paul taking that person and manipulating them. Interviewers can do that right, get the star talking and give them enough rope to hang themselves with.
Liam needs outside validation because he, quite frankly, doesn’t believe in himself the way he needs to. That’s something you normally learn young. But being bullied doesn’t always allow for that. It’s easy to understand your self-worth as an adult. Not so much as a child.
I’m not excusing his behavior. What he said and the way he said it wasn’t right. It came from a swirling void of depression. One that he chose to try and fill with alcohol. Bad idea. Wouldn’t surprise me if he drank before that shit show with Logan Paul. Hate the Paul brothers by the way. Hated them since that video in the Japanese forest. Hate the way they twist things and people for their gain.
That’s what they did to Liam.
Liam is responsible for his own words and for what he said, but it is undeniable he was pushed there.
And honestly, shame on people for jumping on him like. It’s okay to tell someone they’re wrong. HE WAS WRONG. But it isn’t okay to hate him. To destroy him. To kick him while he’s down.
What if Liam ended up dead? What if he went off the fucking deep end? Words have power. Especially over someone who so clearly believed, and may still believe they’re worthless.
It’s sad, what Liam’s become and what he’s been through. It’s even more sad his self-worth doesn’t even belong to him.

I agree. While I don't excuse Liam's behavior, I do think that the hate on him was too much as even if not 100%ly justified, it didn't justify anybody else's words about him. To add on, Liam was someone who fought strong for a soloist role. In fact he had to come back two years to show his improvement, but the fandom chose Harry and if Zayn were to do the same thing as Liam, he would of been instant solo artist. So basically, what Liam has been working hard towards fell down hard, and basically because of that he kept coping with alcohol and other stuff. Thinking about it, while saying that stuff about Zayn was wrong(yes it is), but it was clearly a guy who was extremely resentful and jealous of Zayn because Liam had to come back in two years to prove the audience and judges, while Zayn sometimes without effort can sing high note in ease. I think the reason why Zayn and Louis didn't try to fight Liam as he did offend the 1D fanbase and Zayn himself, they both knew that he was falling apart from the disastrous solo career and alcohol addiction and is someone who needed help. Thankfully in the end, Liam felt bad for what he said and finally had it with his own behavior that he went to rehab to fix himself.

Liam Payne never should have been on that show IMO. They just never do anything good and it had to go south. If I remember correctly, they even served him alcohol. Yes, he's a grown up and responsible for himself, but he's also an alcoholic and it's a allowed to be kind and not set them up to fail.
His manager doesn't care. They know he struggles with alcoholism yet they brought him alcohol so he could shoot naked photoshoot which wasn't even supposed to be naked at the first place, to the point he said he went for a smoke after it was done and he only realized then what happened.

Louis is the oldest member of 1D I believe. he may have acted like a kid many times but when he needed to be the adult you could count on him to have your back. Liam made some unfortunate comments, and he has since apologized for them i guess multiple times. yet fans have no interest in forgiving him for what he said, which is sad on many levels. Having someone like Louis on your side and speakin up for you that's not friendship that's brotherhood. Liam has issues just like everyone else. He has taken steps to get the help he needs and yet fans still act like he's the bad guy. I think Liam feels a bit hurt that maybe some of the other boys are more successful than him and that he won't ever be as big or liked as he was when he was in one direction.
