For people having a tricky time learning short hopping, a lot of new players focus on *pressing* the button quickly. But it's not about *pressing* the button quickly, it's about *releasing* the button quickly. If you're focusing on a fast twitch muscle action of pushing down, focus instead on the pulling away fast twitch motion. It's not like smacking a bug quickly, it's like pulling away from a hot stove.
i cant be one of the only people who use both tap and button jump for different situations right. I used to use tap jump exclusively but slowly clued in to the advantages the button jumping can have.
@@NarwhalzNP as falco, I use tap jump to shine bair or shine dair. I also use tap jump pretty much anytime I am doing a dj off ledge-- minus ledge dashing.
@ I just tried out shine bair and dair and it does feel a lot more consistent to use tap jump for those. But it felt a lot harder to control my drift when trying to tap jump for dj from ledge.
Within 2 frames of being airborne, not within 2 frames of first inputting jump. So you cant have the jump input pressed on the first airborne frame and the last jump squat frame before it. Those are the 2 frames I was referring to, sorry if that wasnt clear.
How dare you slander tap jump I’ll never forgive you I’m ngl tho the only way I can shorthop with X/Y is by scratching the corner of the button lmao I cannot tap the button fast enough

it’s only within 2 frames on fox (and other characters with a 3 frames jumpsquat)

Y jumping is the only way to do it. No respect for x jumpers (not u tho Nolan)
Y jumping just feels so awkward to me but maybe thats cause my muscle memory is trained on X
