And so on... Note, this mutation got into Dutch Mink farms (occurring 1st in human populations), and in Australian lab research this early variant was found to be more infectious to mice (ie lab mice without human ACE2).
In Icelandic research where all SARS-CoV-2 infections were genome sequenced (& repeated testing to track mutations), nearly 700 mutations were recorded to occur within Icelandic community (up to May 2020). When she talked about the Yunnan bat cave sickness, it reminded me of this: ua-cam.com/video/LOeP0x0uOAY/v-deo.html
Yunnan is bordering Cambodia and close to Thailand. In SE Asian some people collect bat poop and many have possibly developed anti bodies for all different corona virus in bat. If the virus didn’t originate in Wuhan, then my number one suspicion is somewhere in SE Asia.
It originated in the lab at Wuhan, there is no coincidence here, period.
@@thefarcenteristhepartyyoun4787 We look at flight data out of Wuhan, Neither Iran nor Italy receive most amount of direct flights from Wuhan, then why Iran and Italy among the early outbreak places? Again, maybe they didn’t get it from Wuhan, they just got it with Wuhan. Possibility: Wuhan is not the origin place, it simply detected the virus earlier than other cities. The virus was seeded in Wuhan, Iran, and Italy around the same time by an unknown place.

How can be explained the low temperature (indicate by Christian Drosten)to infect tissue in lab.with SARS COV2?(at TWiV Nr 659 at min29)
If are real, that indicate the low body temperature can enhance SARS COV2 infection in humans and antypiretics must be avoided.
And may be, by warming medical oxigen, covid19 can be mitigate?
Did new variants have a high restictive temperature?
Thank you for your insightful analysis. Much appreciated.
Peter, look at the SARS-CoV-2 mutations/ amino acid changes & lineages databases, the timelines. Or even the Icelandic SARS-CoV-2 genome sequencing, eg nearly 700 mutations identified within the first few months of community transmissions, just in Iceland. Mutations in current VOC go way back, but now an accumulation of mutations.
Ref:
COV-GLUE website (affiliated with COG-UK), a database listing all SARS-CoV-2 mutations from sequences uploaded to GISAID database (COV-GLUE actually list amino acid changes).
Eg, sequences with N501Y amino acid change, found in Alfa, Beta, Gamma variants (not specific to any lineage, only to N501Y, S: Surface glycoprotein, Nucleotide position 23063.
cov-glue.cvr.gla.ac.uk/#/project/replacement/S:N:501:Y
Sort by sample collection date and you will see the first N501Y case recorded was in Brazil 7 April 2020. Next in Queens NY USA 21 April. On 3 Jun VIC AU, 8 Jun England UK. Skip to sequence 202 (after many UK listings) with 1st South African listing on 23 Oct. Single case with Denmark on 26 Oct.
These mutations occurred across the whole SARS-CoV-2 genome.

Excellent discussion!!
We need to hear from scientists doing gain of function research - primary sources.
Bret wienstien has been talking about the same for more than year. Unfortunately, It seems Dr. Attia is tied to a certain political narrative in this case.
@@annalisajohn Bret is an influencer but I wouldn't characterize him as a primary source. Medical professionals understand how fuzzy Medical science can be while influencers dish out answers to their hungry fans. Controversy sells.
I recall a group-letter of concern (protest) from a group of researchers warning about doing GOF work like this at WIV.
Dr. A’s reference Occam’s Razor is dead on point! KE believes there is “smoke coming out of all the windows” she has examined. Combined these two points and the obvious answer is, well…..obvious!
Dr. Attia, that's for being measured and calm and taking your time with this. Too many influencers sow confusion when tackling a complex and nuanced situation. Hypotheses or Speculation?
The wingnuts were right about some things, but we can't admit that.
What's that saying? "Even a broken clock is right twice a day"
@@ceeweedsl Cute, but even classic liberals on the left are concerned about the squelching of free speech and the tyrannical push on the left to squelch what they deem to be untrue. Since they also are fallible humans, they will be wrong, as they have been with much of Covid. You might check our John Ioannidis, M.D. I think you'll find him credible and enlightening on this matter. His discussion with Attia was excellent.
Hot topic!
Around 1.5 hrs in... Paraphrase: PA - Will more info come out on this? KE - Depends on whether Biden is willing to spend the political capital on this topic. Observation: This is why people like trump. He would have spent the political capital on this but journalists who couldn't stand him let their own biases that get in the way of them doing their job. Look, I'm sure I couldn't do that job well at all... I'm sure I'd let my biases rule me and insert my opinion more than just reporting the facts. But then again I'm not doing that job so I don't have to worry about it.
Thanks for this even-handed analysis of Covid origins. I’m betting on lab error.
In what universe is she even-handed? This was a massive failure by the media (in addition to politicians on the right/left) and to solely blame it on Trump politicizing it is completely absurd. She completely avoided the question of media accountability by dismissing it as “oh there wasn’t enough evidence then”.
I'll take those even odds all day long!
I bet it didn’t even originate in Wuhan! The most “obvious” tidy simple story such as this lady wants to lead you to think is rarely the truth. The virus was in France and Italy at the same time it was in Wuhan, but China was too competent to detect a new virus that it back fired on it.
The first French Covid was in Dec 2019, Italian sewage water from Dec 2019 has virus trace. These show that the virus was already around the world along with Wuhan in Dec 2019, it’s just Wuhan doctor was the first one who thought a mysterious pneumonia is not a good answer and the virus sample should be sequenced! Here is the link for French case:
www.irishtimes.com/news/world/europe/french-hospital-discovers-it-had-case-of-coronavirus-in-december-1.4245275
Here is Italian sewage water www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-53106444
Why were Iran and Italy the next outbreak places after Wuhan, but not other Chinese cities? It doesn’t make any sense based on flight data and the number of human movement between these places.
How (who) does it help if we learn the origin of the pandemic? People are still getting sick and dying. All the energy that people put in these (conspiracy) theories is just wasted in my opinion.
Good podcast. Do not loose your minds.
Money talks and BS walks
Still you both seemingly represent views based on hope and good will. That has never been the human driving force. Fear and gain of benefit will always present its nature first. There is your natural origin of events.

Excelpent journalism there recently. But if you are a follower of the previous US president then you would hate it for all the articles that wont support desired beliefs. In which case you would also discredit all current publications with accredited journalists and prefer getting PR feeds from the politcal entertainment media outlets that masquerade as journalism. This is so funny. Peter has learned nothing about focusing on your core competence. He stated his mission in the intro to the podcast for years - focus on the SCIENCE OF LONGEVITY! Gradually he drifted further and further away from his stated goal and there’s more and more loosely connected or not connected at all dross and headline chasing hot topics of the moment. I’m here for the mission statement, the SCIENCE OF LONGEVITY, and buzzy headline grabber “lab or not” conspiracies in either direction have exactly zero relevance to the ostensible core mission of this podcast. Here’s what’s funny - just look at the comments here, and the amount of blowback! Happy? That’s what you get for trying to chase views from controversies of the moment… nobody is happy, not the folks who will never be pleased by whatever position you take, there’s always someone to be offended, nor us who are here for the science. Peter, wake up and go back to what you’re good at, your core competence, your unique advantage - hard core science of longevity, you’ll get a better caliber of listener, and more satisfying outcomes. Leave the current news click chasing to other youtubers. Last truly great episode, with Gerald Shulman, every time a new episode drops I hope for a return to form, but so far, disappointment… it’s been long past due for a return to greatness!
