I had the same experience hunting in Wyoming, literally in the middle of nowhere. A yeti cooler full of food and a frozen jugs is paramount. I learned my lessons. I bring a loaf of bread PBandJ. Sliced Turkey and cheese with mustard a bunch of bananas. Packages of smoked cheese Pack of Gogo squeeze pouches, favorite instant oatmeal packs. Instant coffee with my favorite coffee cup. TOILET PAPER and a jet boil.

Cause they went on unposted land with standing crops and hunted it on their first sit, then broadcasted to you tube that this how you hunt ND. ND is at a turning point of landowners closing off access because people don’t fully understand the rules, do damage, and make land owners uneasy. Ya some of us sound like jerks, but we are sick of loosing hunting spots forever because someone upset a landowner. It’s a domino effect in an area, once one landowners does it, more follow.

@@williamjthompsonjr you’re the reason more land is posted each year. Bunch of out of staters coming in sedans with pop tarts. Complaining there isn’t a Whole Foods and that no one wants to give them spots… bunch of entitled brats who come here always push it and ruin it. Just keep telling us you grew up here, so it makes it okay to violate peoples trust.

@@kenwiltsie6920 all it takes is one posted sign on the field and it's legally posted. Most guys don't abide by that and push the limits. Out of staters have ruined too many hunts for me over the years chasing waterfowl on land that is definitely posted. Best advice, posted or not get permission to hunt anything. Also standing crop, posted or not, is illegal to hunt without permission of owner.

I feel like you need to clarify that in ND you can hunt land that isn’t posted physically or land that isn’t posted online either, this is a state that you can post either physically and or electronically. Also can’t hunt land if it’s unharvested crops. I’ve never looked for acorns, we have so many ag fields I don’t think they hone in on them like other states. My only recommendation is to watch the big sloughs with lots of cattails. Some of the biggest deer I’ve ever seen have come out of the cattails. They don’t stray far from them either, not until rut. Don’t shy away from public land and state land either.

They are deleting all the comments calling them out 😂. I live in ND. And we wonder why land owners are sick of hunters now. It was all fun when the local townies went out and hit fields and knew common sense. Now you have everyone from who knows where coming out, blocking gates, tossing beer cans, leaving them gates open, taking craps at the gate, driving and walking through crops. Getting stuck in fields and knocking on doors at midnight for help, rather than knocking on doors to ask permission . They don’t understand in ND land owners don’t always live on the property, much less close by, they don’t have time to post it or make sure each sign is up after weeks of high winds and people messing with them. As someone who has lived in ND for years but moved here from out east it baffles me how some folks do things here they’d never do elsewhere or allow someone to do one their property. All these UA-cam stars aren’t making it easier

The whole posted not posted thing blows me away. I for sure wouldn’t want some random individual just wondering around on my property. I think it’s pretty cool of people to do that but that would make me very nervous. I’m from Illinois and we definitely don’t have that. Hell for the most part around here if you even stop on the side of the road to look at deer in a field and that landowner sees you he will want to know what your doing and tell you to get gone. Everyone in this state thinks they have the best piece of deer property, and it’s a shame because then they won’t allow outsiders to hunt it, and they are very rude and arrogant about it and that I have seen first hand discourage new young hunters from giving the sport a go! But I’ve hunted this state my whole life and I’m here to tell you that I’ve killed multiple Pope and Young deer from properties that are 90% ag ground with a little bit of timber and not even hardwood timber. Essentially just hedge lines and creek bed type timber. You don’t need fancy ground to kill a good deer.

ND is not as easy to access land as they made it seem, 75% of it is E posted now in areas that people tend to hunt. Then a good portion is also physically posted. It is confusing, and a lot of NR folks head out here assuming it’s the Wild West and anything goes. Saw people two weeks ago shooting out of their windows at ditch ducks on posted lands. People just assume no one cares, but they’d never do that in Minnesota or Wisco, but once they cross the ND boarder they assume since no one can see them rules go out the window. And then each year, more lands are posted, and more land owners are begging the state to consider all lands posted.

Drew y'all drove around a thousand miles and you didn't physically see a buck?? Apparently North Dakota is only good for waterfowl in sandhill cranes!!! Kansas seems like a better choice!!

That’s tough but I’d rather sit all week and not see anything as apposed to being at work

For the record if anyone is coming to hunt ND for deer or birds, stay OFF unposted lands with standing crops… ND law states this is not allowed and is an offense. For the city boys who hunt backyards, those beans and wheat fields are money on the ground and shouldn’t be damaged.

I feel like y’all went away from telling a story, typically about a specific deer, to just creating a “Webisode” for the sake of putting something out there for algorithm purposes. Not a fan of that. But I understand why you’d need to keep pumping content to stay algorithmic relevant. Good luck the rest of the season.
