I own PSB speakers. My system is 50/50 music/theater. I've had them in my theater since it was constructed. I used to have PSB Stratus Goldi for front left right. Fantastic speakers for home theater. They were replaced with Dynaudio Contour S 5.4 speakers...mostly because the Goldi didn't have much detail and I found that the metal tweeters were kinda harsh for 2 channel music. After 2 PSB center speakers (Stratus C6 and C6i..both sounded boxey), I finally got PSB's Platinum C4 center speaker. LOVE it. It's the BEST center I've heard to date. The size and speaker array make it sound great and natural. For rears (I'm running a 5.1 setup) I have PSB Stratus Bronze towers. They are the only speakers left from the original setup. They have great mid and bass weight for rear surrounds. They still make me jump when something is in the rear. I had 2 PSB 15" subs and a 10"sub for center channel, but never felt like they had enough bottom. I then switched to SVS for front left and right, center and rear. PSB are great speakers for home theater.
I love your channel and your reviews and your 4K movie reviews are the best method of reviews. I support you on patron and think you do an excellent job of reviewing speakers. I have only one thing I wish I could see more of and that budget speakers. I know quality comes at a price but seeing more speakers under that $1,000 price point and having comparisons to go based off of would really help anyone who's just getting started. I've only heard a handful of speakers so it's a bit difficult to make my best assumption. I think seeing more reviews of for example more budget friendly bookshelf's around that $200-800 price point would give anyone who's stumbling across your channel a glimpse into the world of home theater.
Shane every time I watch your videos showing your HT setup I cry in my beer LOL. Why? Because I want your setup, maybe one day. Those PSB's are nice as hell. Great video.
Thanks for this review. I had a PSB subsonic 5i and it finally crapped out after 15 years. I'm interested in checking out the alpha S10. It's definitely a nice looking sub.
I ran PSB towers and surrounds in my home theater for a long while , I still use the side surrounds in my current set up. I think PSB has always been known to produce great bass from their towers using relatively small woofers and a solid-built cabinet. Great review, I haven’t really heard much from PSB in the last few years besides the low budget models like these.
I have never heard of PSB speakers before. Good review. I will consider them for my basement home theater that I'll be putting in (the room on the main level will continue to be the "prime" room). I will say however that I'm surprised that you ran a crossover. I always let all my speakers run full range and make sure they're big enough to handle it. The subwoofer is dedicated to the subwoofer channel and absolutely nothing else. That's just the way we always do it in the theater. The only time we have crossovers is when we bi-amp the main stage channels (L, C, R). If I put a crossover on the mains it just sounds too boomy and wrong. I like the subwoofer to kick in only when the sound mixer intended it to. Makes it special instead of on practically all of the time.
I use the P5 and C10 for the LCR. I have a pair of supercube subs and a left over pair of Missions for surrounds. Kef Q in ceiling for Atmos. Mismatch but works well enough for theatre. Easy listening front stage. No complaints. This isn’t for music so not that critical. Good value and better than Samsung Q900 atmos bar set up prior. Much smoother amd more refined midrange.
Thank you Shane, Loving the content. Quick question though, how would you say speakers like the PSB alpha series compare to a speaker like the ELAC debut series for home theater? A lot of these speakers out now when you trying to find reviews it's only for two channel.
Hey Shane, I was wondering if you‘d ever like to try and get your hands/ears on some Dali speakers? Or are they rather difficult/expensive to get in your area? Love to see these reviews!
PSB speakers are a Canadian brand. I love my PSB's. They don't get the attention they deserve. I just bought a used Polk Audio CSi A6 to "upgrade" my 24 year old PSB Century 200Ci center speaker. Needless to say, I will be reselling the highly rated CSi A6 I just bought. I ran so many comparison test and I could not discern any difference in detail and clarify. I actually preferred the warmer, more natural sounding voices from the PSB over the hollow sounding voices of the CSi A6.
Thank you for the review. My Alpha S10 Sub is on the way. Already have the QAcoustics 3010 Central, Front and Rears along with two Dali Alteco C1 for Heights. No subwoofer right now. What should be my calibration for small/medium sized bedroom? AVR is a Denon 2700H. Please help.
Always like your reviews as you and Andrew Robinson and Cody from H.T.H. are the few who imo are the creme of the crop in regards to H.T.. You cover them well and detail the little things 👍🏽 Question tho, with the release of SVS Pro 1000's it seems like most of these "matching" subs don't have much of a chance given the SVS's overall abilities and value. Thoughts?
Hey Shane - what are the rubberized feet that you used to raise the center? I'm interested in using something like that in my home theater. Great video as always 😎
All depends. Which is oldest? I did both. Replacing my speakers made a huge difference when it came to music. If your Onkyo has all the up to date stuff (HDMI, atmos...room correction...and power..) then replace speakers. If not, then replace with Denon. You want the most up to date receiver. That alone will improve sound with your old speakers. Hope that helped.
Ferrofluid will need to be replaced eventually. My dads KEF from the 90s are a disaster now because the fluid has dried up. It all has to be scraped up, cleaned and the fluid replaced.

Beautiful set up for the price! Wish I could afford one. Always wanted a Atmos set up!
what speaker is the center channel at 1:08 ?
Nice to see you switch it up a bit. Underwater is a great sounding (and looking) film.

How how do you run the subs when testing for demos?

I have had a couple PSB demo's years ago and they seemed impressive for the price to say the least Shane...note that it was a small demo room though.

Will I get a better sound if I put $1500 on speakers or if I replace my budget onkyo AVR with a $1,300 Denon AVR?

@@tylee5291 thank you.
Put the money in room acoustical treatments if you don’t have any
How many watts can these speakers and Subs handle?
They put out zero watts. They're speakers.
@@therealshanelee moron
@@dunmire7671 no need to insult yourself. You didn’t understand what you were watching. It happens.
Beast collection . . .
Hi Shane which would you prefer between the psb alpha or the kef d ones u reviewed

HI WHAT IS THE SZE OF YOUR ROOM THANKS?
He has a room tour search his channel
It has the dimensions
Where is procella speaker review?
Not to bad but at that price point they are pretty awesome 😎
How do they compare against the Arendal 1961?
The 1961's are tiny compared to these.
@@therealshanelee you're right I only have the surround for now, and sound wise?
Hmmm those subs are abit
Pricey considering their capabilities. Too close to the price of a pb1000 pros which im sure blow this one out of the water
Not bright just right. For the price they sound like a good speaker
Finally! Something for all the haters and cheapskates.
But Shane! Those amps you used aren’t in my budget! Unrealistic review!
