I understand you, I saw some Nancy's projects in other pages and they are Russian pages because I love the brioche technique. Anyway, many thanks and I hope you keep to teach your projects I love them.
I just found your video. It’s a super explanation of two color bioche. Thank you! I especially like your notation and that it is in the picture while you’re working. Keep up the excellent work!
So clear, great pacing, love the chart and the superimposed lines of the chart on the video. I have NEVER done two-color brioche, and I was able to do this pattern nearly perfectly the first time through...thank you!!!
Thank you so much Valerie!!! Honestly I was about to stop making videos, and your kind comment inspired me to continue. I really am happy to know that I could help someone learn something new. Since you said you liked the chart, I thought I would ask you if for the other brioche videos that I plan to edit, I should make the kind of chart like I did in this video, or if it would be easier for more people to understand if I would write the chart in words and not symbols, for example: Row 1: k1, *sl1yo, k1 repeat from *, sl1yo, sl1 wyif.
I'm glad you'll continue! I personally like the chart better, because you can see the whole pattern and how each row relates to the one before. I agree that sometimes it's easier in the beginning to just follow instructions, line by line. But even then, I think it's more efficient to eventually use the chart, and with the video the way it is, it basically teaches how to read one, if you don't know how. Including the line by line instructions would be good as reference, but I liked looking at the chart as I learned the pattern. Thanks again, I look forward to seeing more from you! :)
Thank you for your feedback! I agree with you: the chart helps understand how the pattern looks like and it's easier to follow, once you understand how it works. Your comment just reinforced my opinion, so I will continue with this kind of chart.
Bravo!!! And thank you very much for your very detailed explanation! I'm so happy to have understood it and going to make such a scarf and a hat with the same pattern for the coming winter! Best wishes from Ukraine.
Hello, Thank you for the wonderful demo. I realize that there is a video to be able to distinguish the difference, but just wanted to mention that it's important (especially for beginners) to note which way you're slipping your stitches, purl-wise vs knit-wise. You can define the default as purl-wise (as most patterns do "all slipped stitches will be purl-wise, unless otherwise noted") but then actually say slip knit-wise when doing so, for clarity.
Thank you for the comment. I, myself find very important this detail when slipping a stitch knitwise or purlwise, but usually in the videos people don't mention that, so I didn't want to create more confusion and say that, because, like you said, they see it in the video. Anyway, I guess it's better to mention it, and I will, in my next videos. I almost finished editing 2 videos so that's that, but in the next ones I'm surely gonna note the way you should slip the stitches. Thanks again for the constructive criticism.
Working brioche in the round has its specifics. After making the scarf I always thought I should knit a hat that goes with it, since I have enough yarn, but I didn't do it until now. You are the decisive factor :). I'm going to do a video on a hat with this pattern. Hope to finish it fast.
That would be great.....I'll be sure to follow along. I am a hard core chart girl in crochet and learning to be in knitting so a vid is very helpful and appreciative.
If you are going to demonstrate more of my stitch patterns then please acknowledge that you took them from my book Knitting Fresh Brioche. Be considerate of a designers creations.
Dear Nancy, I think you should be grateful for the free publicity your work is getting ... actually, it is only by watching these videos that I understood the technique ... what is critically missing in your book are smart colors and smaller in-between projects ... like a one-pattern scarf, rather than showing the Mount Everest of brioche , with pattern charts that stretch over several pages ... yes, I did buy your book ... and regret the rather frustrating experience !! I am SO glad for the Happy Knitter tutorials ! the fill a critical void ! Greetings from Germany, Ulrike
Thank you so much for sharing this video, it´s a beautiful pattern and very well explained. I already subscribed and I am looking forward to more of these videos (also found the brioche cable pattern of yours). *Thumbs up*
I was wondering if you have a pattern for a brioche kufa? I'm so new at this technique I can't wrap my mind around how to achieve the pattern. I love listening to your instructions. Such a pleasant voice. 😊
If you intend what I wrote in the description of the video: "swatch yarn" means the yarn I used in the video to show how to knit the pattern, and then in the same context "scarf yarn" means the yarn I've used to knit the scarf that you see the photo of in the video.
Actually turns out this particular pattern is Nancy Marchant's, so we give to her all the credits for the beauty of the pattern 😍. Anyway, every new subscriber makes me happy💕💕. Thank you for watching and subscribing!!!
This is the Sushi Ushi Revisited stitch pattern from my book Knitting Fresh Brioche. When you use someone else's work, you need to acknowledge your source. How would you feel if I took something from you and claimed it as my own.
You do a beautiful job and go into good detail with patience. Thank you. I am left-handed and dyslexic so I need all the help I can get. I hope you didn't let that lady get to you. Her response after your apology was uncalled for. Keep up the beautiful work 😊
Good evening, do you know Laura Whittington? She is showing one green leaves scarf very pretty and I would like you can teach us, if you can. Her channel here is Knitting Emporioum. Thanks in advance. She has two videos with some tips.
I am sorry but I don't want to make other videos based on other designer's creations. I already did without knowing, but consciously I won't do it. I apologized to Nancy Marchant, and I don't want to be again in the position of having to apologize. I do videos of my own designs, or some patterns found in magazines, that I adapt to two-color brioche. If you want a leaf motif, you can try my "Frozen forest" video ua-cam.com/video/xop-yyLulxE/v-deo.html. But if I would try to come up with something else leaf-like, I guess I will end-up reinventing something that Nancy Marchant already invented. She has so many leaf patterns, that maybe there's nothing left to invent...:) Maybe only by trying very hard, and at the moment I'm not that much into leaves... Sorry...
I didn’t feel you showed enough repeats. Four stitches each on the first 2 rows. I have to keep going back and play the video, go back and play the video, go back and play and it’s hard to find the starting point. I wish you had done the entire row for the first couple rows. I’m already frustrated and I haven’t gotten through 2 minutes. You also don’t show me what you just did on the right hand needle. It’s under your right hand. I want to see what it looks like.
You're a horrible teacher because you assume that everyone knows what to do on the row with the second color and they don't. It was very confusing. I'll get my lessons somewhere j else.
I understand you, I saw some Nancy's projects in other pages and they are Russian pages because I love the brioche technique. Anyway, many thanks and I hope you keep to teach your projects I love them.
Thank you so much for your kind words!!!!

Thank you for watching!!! I'm very glad to know that I've helped you. You'll be very warm and will look so nice!!!
I tried and was happy with the outcome.... looking forward for more designs.... thank you so much...
I'm so pleased to know that you managed to do the pattern by following the instructions in my video. Thank you for watching!
I love your graph, with the colors - it is really nice to work with and much easier than what I have tried in the past. Thank you.
Thank you!!!! I started doing it for myself, and then I thought why not share it with everyone :)

That'd be awesome :) Because sometimes I'm not always looking up and just following along w/the dialog instructions.
Great tutorial on brioche...can't wait to try it for a hat in the round.

Nancy Marchant I have two of your books and I absolutely love them! I'm totally hooked on brioche knitting now.
Even watching video, i already gone banana! Just by reading the book only.....well i might just jump off the bridge!
Wow, I´m impressed. You actually invented the brioche stitch?
Thank you so much for sharing this video, it´s a beautiful pattern and very well explained. I already subscribed and I am looking forward to more of these videos (also found the brioche cable pattern of yours). *Thumbs up*

Thank you very much for the compliments!! I'm sorry but I don't know what a kufa is.
thank you for this beautiful design...
The design actually is Nancy Marchant's. I found on the web a chart of it, and made the video and my own kind of chart...
Sorry..i want to ask..what do you mean of swatch yarn? And when we use it? What minutes of the video? Thank you....
If you intend what I wrote in the description of the video: "swatch yarn" means the yarn I used in the video to show how to knit the pattern, and then in the same context "scarf yarn" means the yarn I've used to knit the scarf that you see the photo of in the video.

Sorry, I found the chart on a site, I can't find it now, to show you where I found it. Anyway, I will acknowledge your book as my source.
Thank you. It is so frustrating when one's designs are passed around as if they just appeared out of the clouds.
I understand your position as a creator. Sorry again.
Nancy Marchant's books are the BEST! I have several!
You do a beautiful job and go into good detail with patience. Thank you. I am left-handed and dyslexic so I need all the help I can get. I hope you didn't let that lady get to you. Her response after your apology was uncalled for. Keep up the beautiful work 😊
Thank you this was very helpful
