    Hi Richard ! I am so happy that there is a South African bike packing in South Africa and filming proper episodes. However the comments about the mining , the rich and politics I do not enjoy. Things we can do nothing about. Negative things. Your travels , your camp , the bush , the people you meet and those lonely dust roads are awesome. Good job , keep it up and enjoy. Can't wait to watch you new episode tonight.

    Hi Richard, I'm so happy I've come across your channel, its just the 'ordinary' type of bikepacking I like to watch. When I say ordinary I mean not going to some Instagram location like everyone else. I'm loving seeing the outback SA🙌. I'll catchup with your back catalogue soon👍
    I'm a pom in Australia, i like to bikepack when I can but working full-time so have little opportunity. Like you I'm no spring chicken, I can't wait to retire so i have the freedom you have.

    Dankie dat jy jou ondervindings deel Richard.
    Wanneer vordering moeilik raak, ontspan en dink vorentoe.
    More waai die wind weer van agter af en daar is minder sand op die pad.

      @AvonVosloo Yes Avon, challenges lead to abundance if we treat them so. For me, it deals with my character and makes me a better person. Thank you for following me :)

    Hi Richard. Enjoying your videos. I've toured a fair bit. Your chair - what brand is it and where did you buy it? Do you know what it weighs?

    • @richardhunt3051

      @@paulbarnard4856 it's a Nemo Moonlite Elite. I think 500g. Bought from Drifters. Can carry 120 kg. Made from dynema material.....

    I think at the start that you said you were leaving Kimberly? If would help if you would show where you are on a map. I have lived in South Africa but can't remember smaller towns are roads. I don't know what direction you are going from Kimberly, nor how far from any town or city. I am enjoying your videos but don't know really where you are in a huge country.

    Hi Richard, really admire what you are doing but don't you get lonely taking on this adventure on your own not to mention the safety aspect. Have always wanted to do something like this.

      @lynoconnor9818 I meet people on the way, especially in the N Cape....everyone stops, chats and assist in many ways. Some times you can be with many people and get lonely....it all depends how you live your life and where your source of life come from. The spirit of fear weighs a person down and becomes a stronghold in the mind, especially the fear of man. True freedom is absent of fear. I am cautious of wild animals and careful in that respect.....

    Thanks for creating awareness though it has a little impact as the people involved are handful of government official.
    Sad to hear that God bless you for sincerity and open mindedness
    I hope this is the biginning of the end of this mischief

      @nassorkhalifa4923 Hello Nassor. This excessive mining and destruction in the N Cape will continue...they are continually prospecting for new areas to mine. Greed is like an addictive drug. The big companies tried to do shale gas mining in KZN as few years ago and the people stood up and chased them away. The problem is that the N Cape has a very small population and easy to trample over them. Speaking to the farmers here, they are worried about the underground water tables drying up, which is already happening!!!

    I've heard of a white farmer who'd rather have his dog in the front seat of his bakkie than a black employee. I'm not sure why the bakkie driver doesn't offer a lift to pedestrians but I suspect it could be racist attitude. You put it politely when you say they lack "kindness"

    hi Richard.
    What bike are you using?
    could you do a bike review please?
    it would be good to do one when’s it’s new and after you’ve put some Km on it

    • @richardhunt3051
      @richardhunt3051  Місяць тому +2

      @mikesmit6663 Hello Mike. It is a German made bicycle..... vsf fahrrad manufacturing TX 400. I started off with a Giant Talon 1 (2016 model) and it didn't survive. I will definitely do a bike review after it has been tested. At this stage it is being brutally tested on very rough roads!!!

      I had the same question. Thanks @richardhunt3051, that answers my question. Looking forward for your touring bicycle review, what you like about it, and what you wish it has. We are eyeballing the Surly Disc Trucker. Thanks.

    Richard what is the weight of all your baggage?

    • @richardhunt3051
      @richardhunt3051  Місяць тому

      @lynoconnor9818 All my gear including food and water is approx 35 kg. It's long term expedition cycling. If you go for short periods you can use a normal bicycle and smaller bags. There is a difference between bicycle touring and bike packing. I am 80 kg so a total of 115 kg on the bike which weighs 16.5 kg.
