And logically that is what you would need to do. I cannot believe that the bolt head snapped off but by some miracle a pair of pliers was able to remove it... I call bs
@@krislink1761Ever dealt with a broken exhaust stud or shock stud? You can easily shear a stud/bolt of similar size if not larger and remove it with heat, a lubricant and pliers/vice grips. 90% of the time it’s quicker to do that cause all you have to grab is the map or oxy/acetylene torch and heat that fucker, hit it with the PB blaster you’ve already got out and go grab the best pair of pliers you’ve got for the situation. I will say I do run into bolts where its gotta have a nut n washer welded on, reheated and hosed with pb just to be impacted out and shear in half 60% of the time so then it’s either left a hand drill bit or a lotta drilling/tapping for a helicoil😂There’s times like broken/rounded rod bolts, head studs or shit like this video where it’s crucial to minimize debris from the job
Except that one takes an aluminum spool gun. The bolts that hold the cam cradle on in that trash Audi/vw are aluminum. Good luck finding aluminum hex nuts.
Consider putting some tape over the exposed camshafts when doing this. A piece could easily snap off and good luck finding it or hopeing the oil filter catches it.
He did. That's why he blocked the camera to make a cut and re-stick the bolt and use the pliers to take that already unstuck bolt out. This is a knipex advertisement don't be fooled
Out of all my tools this knipex that your using is the only thing I have from that brand luckily my friend gave them to me for free and honestly they are very useful and I’m glad that I have them
I have a drawer full of Knipex and use most daily. They're some of those tools that once ypu start using them they'll replace so may other similar tools. Freed up a large 72inch drawer of pliers and such for a 36inch drawer full of knipx pliers, dikes and their smaller bolt cutters.
I have this in my GTI.. that engine is reliable when you take care of them...!! So far no real issues with mine "188,xxx and counting. Still very zippy and handling is amazing.
Sold! Now I'm going to have a pair of pliers looking around for this project. It will turn out I'll never need it because i have these. But some call that insurance.
I was also skeptical on knipex because of the cost. I now own a lot of them. The twin grips are quickly becoming my favorites. Before I never reached for slipjoint pliers now I do all the time. They hit much harder then their weight class without a doubt.
i have a pair of these at the house and work, the end has concaves linier for vertical grip,i also use to clean up copper tubing ends by gentile turning and reviaing clean round copper for fitting& the normal cross cut pattern is usual. nice long handle and is like the slip-joint 2position pliers your grand dad used but these have push button 7notches ,one of my goto pliers.
I gotta pair of new knipex, had some carb bowl screws stripped out (allen head) dont have that for my impact yet. Grabbed them with the knipex an they came right out. I was amazed. Those bowl screws get stuck stuck and 9/10 times they are stripped because people dont use the right tool.
Vampliers from Vampire tools are just as good, if not better! Those Knipex Twin Grips are awesome tho! I like how they are adjustable, and work extremely well for removing constant tension hose clamps, as they grip like no other hose clamp pliers!
This engine could have taken him a day or two to rebuild but he made videos he uploads here and there to keep views coming, that or he just does a little bit at a time over the course of a few weeks for example, the first method os common for content creators
I get that, I just imagine the customer waiting on his car for like five months saying, "WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG?" and the stumbling across these videos xD @@PlutoProtogen
I would have skipped that step and since I dont have welding equioment, I would have gone with the easy outs. I cannot believe you were able to do that. Ive never heard of those but have to have some now.
I want to get these. I previously bought Vanpliers that essentially does the same but made in Japan. They are smaller so unsure if they will provide enough leverage. Icon at Harbor Freight has a new tool like Knipex.
Was there today and noticed an Icon 24kt gold plated ratchet for $60. I was more confused than anything. Like what kind of person gets gold plated tools? They will get covered in oil and banged around anyway 🤣🤣
I had a small engine with a similar issue, bolt snapped off but there was nothing to grab, tried heating the heat, welding to it, drilling it out, nothing worked. Ended up drilling and tapping two holes and having to make a metal bracket to go over top of the thing the bolt was supposed to hold down.
Great Knipex demo, and yes shut up and take my money, but share the link to that camera that auto focused that fast the whole time! Share the link broski and get paaaaaaaaid!
Knipex and Germany overall use good steel for their tools. However, their plastic sucks big time. One will find broken plastic tabs or cracked parts on VW, BMW and MB products.
I would have immediately gone to get the welder not enough to get a good grip with a vice grip and I wouldn't even try with any of the plyers I have. That there is very impressive
They have a very aggressive pattern on the jaws, so they really bite. It would be awesome if Knipex would make a needlenose-version...
Their not knipex but vampliers (made in japan) has a needle nose. Havent used them yet but look pretty decent.
@@brianb5779they have a sister company in Amazon. It's called engineer and they are the same thing cheaper than Vampliers.
You have more patience than I do. I would've welded on a bigger nut, rocked it back and forth then zip it loose with an impact.
And logically that is what you would need to do. I cannot believe that the bolt head snapped off but by some miracle a pair of pliers was able to remove it... I call bs

Knipex makes awesome tools, I have a couple I carry with me at work that allow me to fix many things on the fly.
Consider putting some tape over the exposed camshafts when doing this. A piece could easily snap off and good luck finding it or hopeing the oil filter catches it.
dont think it matters since he is disassembling but good tip
That's not a crucial bolt so the average person won't have the correct tools to remove it so don't worry about it!
I 100% thought he was gonna end up welding nut to that bolt.
He did. That's why he blocked the camera to make a cut and re-stick the bolt and use the pliers to take that already unstuck bolt out. This is a knipex advertisement don't be fooled
Wow that was
Surgical !
So procedural, so precise, so technical, so finessed,
it was beautiful to behold
The Knipex pliers wrench, and one of these bad boys is a killer combo. Knipex makes such great tools.

Yes dude they are soo helpful like honestly anytime your stuck they get you out of that situation luckily my boy gave me them for free!!

Forget the tool, you’re the man! You’ve got the experience needed to make it work and the tool needed to do it, bravo!
I can attest that Knipex pliers are top notch quality tools
Bought a pair becuase of one of your other videos. These things are serious, absolutely love them.
I am now buying a pair. Thanks for the demo
I bought a pair of those when they first hit the market. F-N WICKED pliers!!!
It's not just the pliers that got the job done. It's the skilled mechanic as well.
Jason Wampler
How skilled could he be, if he couldn't remove it while the motor was in the car?
I just used mine this weekend, working on the Hemi! They are fantastic!
I'm impressed that you managed to get a grip on that stub, even with a Knipex
Oh man that noise when the thread cracked loose. Music to my ears
That snap every mechanic loves to hear when the bolt finally breaks free
I have this in my GTI.. that engine is reliable when you take care of them...!! So far no real issues with mine "188,xxx and counting. Still very zippy and handling is amazing.
Damn it, Knipex take my money.
I have a set of these pliers and they're a huge improvement from the Pittsburgh harbor freight pliers i had before.
Knipex, the best pliers/groove-locks I’ve ever owned
Sold! Now I'm going to have a pair of pliers looking around for this project. It will turn out I'll never need it because i have these. But some call that insurance.
That's truly impressive.
Those are one of my favorite pliers on my arsenal.
Knipex uses PitBull steel in their pliers. Bites hard and doesn't let go
Great now I need a pair of those. Was waiting to see if they where all they where cracked up to be. That's a damn good commercial for these.
Knipex are one set of tools that are worth way more than their cost.

I'm currently putting one of these Rascals back together with those triple square fasteners gotta love those timing chains that jump at 68,000 miles
Excellent extraction heat and the right tools. Experience is the best way 🎉
You have a cool voice. It’s unique
Loving my knipex small very handy pliers

Nice work on saving that cam tray 👍🏻
I dont have these but my cobras are my favorite pliers. They were my dads.

Not like it can't be polished lol. What's the dude supposed to do? Trash the entire thing because the surface was marred a bit? 🤣🤣
Holy cow, i need me this pliers, my 2JZ GTE has a coil bolt thats been broken and i haven't been able to pull it out for 3years now
The best pliers in the world knipex

GM called, they want the exhaust manifold for their 1960s Small Block back 😂
I have a few of Knipix other things but I haven’t seen this one yet. Amazon here I come!
Vice grips work too
They sure make beyond quality and just great tools
Pliers go pinch pinch

Those pliers are sick tho😂
Love my twin grips
Impressive pliers. I would have gone straight to the mig and a nut.
Aluminum bolts. Good luck

I never thought you would get that out
Yeah I hope you're breaking that thing down completely cuz I was watching the chips fly off that broken bolt and go into the oil passages :-)
Don't u just love when shit like that happens and you overcome and win
I'm so proud of you
My ocd was kick'n in like a mf'er! I'm like "PLEASE STUFF PAPER TOWELS OR TAPE OVER THOSE HOLES SO YOU DONT DROP IT IN THE ENGINE"
No company cCan make a better ad, take my money.
Knipex alligator pliers 255mm are the best you def need them only if you don’t have them

love my knipex
That head is cracked
I’m just wondering who decided it was a good idea to tighten the bolt so much it broke
Coming from a Subaru owner I’m about to go get me a pair
But did you destroy the pliers in doing so?? Vise grips still work cool.
That's their designed purpose.
I need those i got long wire cutters from that brand that they are undefeated 😂 the best one ive had by far
If you used a big enough hose clamp to squeeze the handles closed and a ratchet extention could turn that likar a T handle ratchet
I love them pliers
Knipex sponsor this guy and take more of my money.
Yup. That’s flat rate life for you. Send it!
GEEZUS! Those are $40 pliers! Twingrip is one word btw.
Dont give me that. You spend $40 on a bottle of whiskey for the weekend.

You should try heating it up and then hitting it with some wax so it melts.down into the threads.
You got lucky! ESPECIALLY since you didn’t even hit the bolt to loosen it up
You're the man 😂
Fare play to you mate I thought that was never coming out 😂👍
thats quite common new engines don't come with them pre-threaded at assembly
Nice! 😎
If only my stuck rotor set screws came out this easy 😂

Is there a way to get more leverage on a set of pliers when trying to break a bolt loose like this?
I'll just use my vice grips.
I have to get a pair of them have some of the cobra’s and I think gators is the other old style like channel locks
Well I'll be picking up a pair of knipex wizbangs nextctrip to town.
Blurred the broken piece at the end. Threads were in perfect shape though right?
Need a pair of those knipex
man thats technically impossible... good job knippix
Im not gonna lie i didnt think it was gonna work. I need those
Is that one of those kia 4 cylinders with the one piece turbo and exhaust manifold?
Satisfying as hell, practically needed a cigarette.
Go with Vampliers. Stronger, less expensive.
Good effort
