+Emily Fernandez Absolutely true, a great movie, unlike most of the Disney movies today. I love this movie, and all of the characters in it, especially Tito. The songs were right on time. Love it. I completely agree very underrated.
I feel like too many people forget about this movie because it was too dark and it wasn't a love story like most Disney movies. But that's unfortunate since it was always one of my favorites. The songs never get old and the characters are epic and the animation is freakin' amazing!
Rita is a Saluki Dodger is a Jack Russell Terrier Tito is a Chihuahua Francis is an English Bulldog Einstein is a Great Dane And Roscoe and DeSoto are Doberman Pinchers
Way underrated version on bringing Oliver Twist to Disney in the form of animals. The talents of Billy Joel (Dodger), the late Dom Deluise (Fagin) and many others...wow! This is quite an intriguing film, I'd definitely suggest it
Jasobres At least Oliver and Company keeps their movie's twin towers but why do they have to never include them in anything else for? Those people are long dead it doesn't matter it's hypocritical to act like the twin towers never existed.
I knew I wasn’t the only one, and I’ve never even been to New York. The towers were destroyed a month after I turned six. And what’s worse, I don’t even remember 9/11. I have absolutely no memory of that day. I don’t even remember going home from school early
0:04 When I watched this movie at five years old, this single moment was the epitome of cool. Surfing on a car and tipping a wink while singing an amazing song about how he doesn't worry or care. I actually wished I could turn into Dodger and live in this film universe where that was possible.
Am I the only one that prefers the old World Trade Center over the new one? It just felt more like an actual complex, rather than a series of buildings that vaguely tie into each other.
Canadian But I like Disney movie sequels especially ones by DreamWorks. Oliver and Company deserves a sequel especially with Dodger as the main protagonist and it should be called Dodger and Company.
This is 1 of the shortest Disney movies we've ever gotten. It's only 73 minutes long, but just because it's a short movie doesn't mean that it's bad. This is 1 of Disney's most UNDERRATED classics.
Shali Williams this movie was made in 1988 do you think they will make a comeback and even if they did make a Oliver and the company 2 what would the plot even be?
I mean, it's New York. It probably isn't even the first time it's happened this week. Probably not even the weirdest thing most of the drivers have seen while living there.
These songs are just so AMAZING!!! I sure wish we had those fantastic glorious marvelous delightful magical spectacular days again with these kinds of movies playing in theaters!!!
Noooo no no no no at this point this far into the future I can almost 100% guarantee you would regret wishing for that O.O This movie gives me life but I think making a sequel after so long would be not great...
not trying to hate but seeing other Disney sequels (Pocahontas 2, Mulan 2, Hunchback of Notre Dame 2, Little Mermaid 2&3, All Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin sequels) I don't think its a great idea lol😂
*Fun Fact:* A character was cut late in the production of this movie. You can see a few empty spaces in some scenes, but the most obvious one at 0:45 where there's a missing space above Rita The character cut was Sally; a female Golden Retriever. The Execs thought there were too many dogs in this film about a cat so Sally who did not have a significant role in the story was cut. Her lines were given to the Great Dane, Einstein. Which is also why he seems to change personality from scene to scene.
+Rafael Patrón Frozen isn't a bad movie, it's just an _extremely_ overrated movie. Hell, I found Frozen to be pretty funny and enjoyed most of the characters. I even liked Let it Go before everyone and their hamster were singing the song and ruined it. Disney has completely oversaturated their market with Frozen, and so it went from a movie that was fairly enjoyable to one I never want to see again.
True, I guess if everyone hadn't been so hyped up about it and hadn't sung the songs so horribly and annoyingly around me then I might've liked it a bit. But then again, I'm more of a DreamWorks fan than a Disney one
I get chills when I see the final shot of the movie showing Manhattan with the twin towers. It probably has to do with them singing "Why Should We Worry" right beforehand. I'm glad the movie hasn't been altered to remove the towers. It gives an added meaning to the song and the movie. They are a reminder to enjoy life and not to worry too much, even though the future is uncertain.

This movie on the other hand, I dont have a single thing to criticize it for, just a really good dinsey movie, and yeah its underrated. It may be not as interesting as the best ones like Lion King or 101 Dalmatians for example, but its still a very, very, very good movie.
I love how back in the day Disney either chose people with some decent singing skills so they didn't have to get someone to do their singing voice (ex. Jeremy Irons as Scar) but even better when they get an actual music artist like Billy Joel to do the part AND their singing voice
I love it when people do this, get an actor that has a music backround or can at least sing, Disney used to always do this, like Billy Joel here for example

My fav Disney movie, oh man so many childhood feels.. I genuinely love that song, it's been on my playlist since forever now :') It helped me get through some difficult moments as well.
One of the best movie endings Disney ever came up with, in my opinion. Most of the other classics make me cry and the openings make me feel epic. With Oliver and Company, it's the other way around. I always cry whenever I see Oliver in the box in the rain, but at the end I feel freaking awesome.
When I was younger I tolerated this movie. The villan was too much for me and I often got scared during it. But I adored the kitten aspect. Now I like shit, this movie is great! And to tackle how people miss this type of animation, I too wish Disney would keep their promise after the sucsess of princess and the frog to make animated movies like this one every other year. But these movies are ridiculously expensive, and though Disney owns everything and could obviously pay for it in the nineties and early 2000s, inflation and the recession haven't missed huge corporations like Disney. Also, computer animated movies are "in" and cheaper to make. They also require an enormous ammount of manpower and time, both things that are good for making a stupendous movie, but are far harder to do than a computer animated film.
Nah, they use Toon Boom software to make 2D animated films now. That's what they used for Princess and the Frog and the new Winnie the Pooh. I highly doubt it's that expensive to make a 2D film compared to a high-budget CGI film which requires hours to render a single frame of film (24 frames in a second). It's not about how much money they invest, but how much money they lose. Maybe if they used CAPS again or reinvented the process again altogether, then it'd be another story.
I used to watch this movie all the time when I was little, everytime I did I'd put on blue eyeshadow just like Georgette and dance across the streets like Rita and Dodger while singing the songs. And you know what? I still do. :P
My sweetheart really likes this movie. Part of it is because Billy Joel voices Dodger and Billy Joel is her favorite singer. He's also one of mine, too.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the ending song of one of the most underrated Disney movie ever.
You wanted to say, one of the most shitty Disney movie ever? Yes i agree.
Ooh, hater thinks he can get to me. You failed. I don't care what you think, you're entitled to your own opinion.

Imagine what those dogs sound like to the human characters. just rhythmic barking and howling.
But the point is, it would still sound really cool
Hyenacub 993
That's their owners money problems gone right there.
Unless if the characters could understand what animals say
Actually reminds me of Fox and the Hound 2 of all things where that’s basically how they justified the dogs singing
When it says "The ryhthm of the city, but once you get it down, said you can own the town, you can wear the crown" always gives me goosebumps.

I just love Rita. The part where she pulled Dodger away from those girl dogs is classic.
SHE was jealous

Wait what? I just noticed that!
Rita is a Saluki
Dodger is a Jack Russell Terrier

I really love Dodger he's my favorite dog character in Oliver and Company.
You sure Dodger is a Jack? I always thought he was a mix, not to mention he is way to big for a Jack, even if it is an animated movie.
I think he's a mix, but he definitely has a good deal of Jack in that mix.
The way Rita pulls Dodger back from staring at the female dogs 😂 CLASSIC

That last shot of NYC with the Twin Towers, just knowing that we'll never see that in another Disney movie again makes me cry.

Who tears up at the sight of the Twin Towers standing tall and proud over the city?
Ryan Marra I am clearly not a NYer but that event was a tragedy.
R.i.p to the people who were killed in 9/11 they'll be missed!
You know if they're going to reboot the movie, they should just remaster it in modern day new york.
