I just wanted to point out something I saw. Never start painting on the object, start from a little left or right of the object and then slowing come towards it as there can be air bubbles or paint chunks which comes out first and if you start from a lil outside your main object will get a flawless painting. Keep up the good work
Yeah dude, with cars is the same (i am from Spain and study this) You start painting outside the object and finish outside too, because if you don't do this the paint can drain xd
@Malchik Blue That is most likely perfect grammar in his native language. The source of most grammatical errors for non-native English speakers is when they quite naturally apply the grammar rules of their native language to English. English grammar is complicated and weird.
I realize, as you do too, that applying filler to any vice does absolutely nothing for the vice other then make it look nicer. But, That also tells me you care about your projects enough to take the time to do such things. Nothing wrong with that, and I would do the same. Thumbs Up!
Filing casting marks, filling with putty, two coats of sandable primer, masking to perfection and a flawless paint job = Better than new! Amazing work. Thank you. By the way, I feel this inexplicable urge to subscribe . . .
Funny story: never really was into or never thought I was into restoration videos... sure I like diy doll remakes home decorating etc but how I came about this channel: I fell asleep one night binge watching something totally unrelated and woke up to scraping and power tools turned off videos and the next day I couldn’t shake the sounds so that night as I laid in bed I searched for that video that woke me up lol and let’s just say I’ve been binge watching every since I rewatch prior videos viewed the sounds put me peacefully to sleep but the beauty of bringing something thought to be trash or useless back to life lifts my spirit. So to TYSY TUBE THANK YOU!!!
Just the video I needed to see. Just bought a Heavy Record Vise, it's old and needs some TLC. Remove some rust and gunge. Then remove the old paint and give it a new paint job, etc. You have helped me with the process immensely. Thank You so much. Your vise turned out to be a work of art. I hope I can do something like that for my new vise. All the best.
In a lot of times, a rusty and old tool is better than a new one; just because it has rust don't mean it can not do it's job properly and efficiently. You only need to take care of what is yours, and you'll be rewarded with a lifetime 's quality set of tools. By the way, great restoration video, TysyTube! You always amuse me and all the people with your content! ;)
Oh, I used to own one of these vises: right long before Duane G. Shelton sold it off. I'm impressed when you made this universal vise great again. You had the tools and the machines to do it. It's the know-how.
This is the first video of yours where I essentially couldn’t tell the difference between you and your friend, “My Mechanics”. Your procedures are now basically the same. I don’t know who taught who. Either way, the results are fantastic. Well done sir!
Well I'd be a son of a sad sailor, its official ya gone an done it again you made something old look better than it could have been when it was first made. 10 cheers mate.👌👌👌👌😊
When I saw that it was a blue vise that was being restored, I thought "I hope he repaints that in that beautiful Hammerite blue color". I very happy to see that come to be in the video. It looks great!
I've seen others restoration channels before, but i keep seeing this one because this level of perfection, precision, the level of finish, its only in this channel, keep going like that men, every restore you make its a piece of art!
I really like that color blue you use, especially with the polished steel surfaces. Maybe try some black primer as a base coat to deepen the blue, I think it would be very bold. Nice job 👍♥️🙂🎄
I'm not a great fan of sandblasting, but I'm sure you gave some fans a heart attack when you decided to switch to the paint stripper. I agree with you, it was faster. I didn't realize that a vice has so many parts. It was a joy to watch. That was a great find, and a beautiful restoration. Bravo! 😄 A fan from Puerto Rico.
Brilliant craftsmanship! Paint job turned out beautiful as always! The blue paint is gorgeous!💙Thank you 🙏🏻 for the nibble of sandblasting that's always a treat! Take care 👍🏻❤️😊🔧
Toujours aussi impressionné par le soin du détail et le soin apporté à la parfaite restauration. Un plaisir de voir vos vidéos. Bravo et merci pour le partage
G’day and greetings from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 well you wouldn’t believe that the finished vice was the rusty and chipped one you started with, another terrific job kind regards John.
I love watching vise restorations and I'd have to say this was one of the best I've seen. You showed us all of the processes and it turned out like brand new. Oh, and thank you, thenk you THANK YOU for using grease when assembling it. I see some who don't, and they say if it's properly made then the grease is not needed. I disagree entirely, so a huge thanks for lubricating it. I just bought myself a cheap new Chinese 6" vise, first thing I did to it was disasemble, file sliding surfaces and reassemble with grease. Took all of half an hour and the difference is very noticeable. Love all of your work, always ppeased to see a new video from you.
Serious job. Well done. I didn't know you could thin out and spray hammerite like that. Good to know. Currently doing a 1930s carpenters woodworking vise myself.
You always do wonderful work and thank you you gave me a good color scheme for a hot rod that I've been trying to figure out what I wanted to paint for a customer of mine thank you
After You watch this Awesome video you should check my Knife Restoration 😍 ua-cam.com/video/S4GwhXnPQw0/v-deo.html
I don't always agree with the choices, but I will always respect them. Nice work, TysyTube.
Can you give me an example? I'm interested :)
Hey it's the dude who makes those hilarious tow videos.
That wrench 😍
😍🥳

Right,
I think he normally does that because it struck me when he didn't this time.

From a piece of crap to a piece of art, one video at a time. Thank you for these relaxing moments!
Man that looks so nice I don't even think I'd want to use it.
TySy: someone hammered here and I can’t remove the jaw
My mechanics: I’ll make a new one!!
Hahahaha

@@muzzlevelocity4397 so true ! I'm french, and while i try to not do that too much, I'm sure i do it all the time lol
English is not my first language too, but it doesn’t matter if there are grammar mistakes if you understood what he was trying to say :))
@Malchik Blue I find his English charming. How's your French?

The vise probably looks better now than when it left the factory!

@@TysyTube What kind of putty do you use as filler?
Charles Harrison I would love to know this also. Did you ever find out?
Thank you my mechanics. You are by far the best. It is a pleasure watching you work. Thank you.

And it's cool seeing a perfectly usable tool restored to working order (and made beautiful, to boot!)!

The contrast between the blue metallic and the plain metal is stunning!
Very well done! Looks brand new!
Do the HUGE wrench next!

Hmm no i didn't see it, but thanks for the recomendation, i'll check it out later! Thanks bro
Gorgeous color and beautiful workmanship!!
Nice job, Tysy! Beautiful vice!
Again. Restored the vise to perfection. Good job
This blue, this specific blue, is my favorite color ever since you presented it here in the channel. It's so pretty!
Nice tear down, fix and clean up. Beautiful restoration.
Bench vices are what got me into watching restoration videos. This one was awesome. Very nice job.
Excellent restoration. The one mystery is why 497 people gave a thumbs down. Why!!
1 like for hammerite painting... I like it, new colour on this vice, i remember one, my father have it, same colour. Good memories.
YEEEEESSSSSSS !!!!!!!!! Back to the restoration videos instead of the boring ice cream ones. THANK YOU !!!!!
😬, i’m done with ice cream, i will start remaking miniature constructions
Ice cream ? Ok I definitely missed something 🤔
That is a piece of art good enough to put on a coffee in the living room..well done.
Using your car jack to safely remove the sliding jaw was ingenious…..another fine restoration…enjoy the holidays!
Hi Tysy Tube 👋👋👋 good to see you 🤝🤝🤝 very good restoration vise 👍👍👍you’re a jack of all trades 👌🏽

Beautiful job
There's something very satisfying about watching these videos.
You and my mechanics are the best restoration channels on UA-cam.
it literately looks brand new, what an amazing restoration!
The camera angles on the tape removal was great. So satisfying!
The paint scraping is almost as satisfying as sandblasting. Great restoration as always.
Great restore work. And it's a nice metallic blue, too.

Is it only the US that spells it with an S?
Does this make him a member of the Vice Squad?
Absolutely Beautiful Color choice! Would also look as stunning in the Red Hammertone as well!
Incredible. This thing looks like it belongs in a high-end kitchen and not in a workshop.

Ingenious idea using the car jack 👏🏾👏🏾

Superb job. I love the way the solvent in the cleaning bath is sparkling clean, the one we have in work looks like it`s pumping out Crude oil.
This is a fun one since you've used this for other restorations I'm the future!
That's a great parts washing cabinet. Great restoration.
Yes I think a big wrench would be cool and I love the vise love that blue hammered paint great work !!
Looks very very nice. Not sure I'd put the time, material, and labor into a old vice but I enjoy watching you do it.
Superbe restauration :) Le bleu est juste magnifique !
Wieder eine tolle Arbeit! Klasse gemacht!!
Tysy Tube 👌 super restauration🤘☺️😎
