I really feel like Héctor should be on this list. All he wanted was to go home to his wife and daughter. He gets killed by his best friend, the guitar his wife gave him was stolen, his songs were stolen, he spent 96 years trying to cross the bridge just so he could go home to his daughter, his wife didn't know the truth so she resented him, and he was nearly forgotten and nearly died a second time.
Bailey Johnson wow yeah this is so sad 😭
Hector from Coco definitely deserved to be on the list.
I feel like hector will be in the list or atleast a honorable mention but how sad they didn't put hector on the list
Bailey Johnson When you say it all out loud, it really is depressing. 😂 Oh my gosh.
Ozan Akbar yeah same here
Aww those eyes on Baby Dory...huge eyes and little face. Melts me! My nieces love Dory...baby and grown up Dory!
Kerry Ann awww!poor dory!!
@@angeld3654 I know...when she first gets lost...I nearly cried ....bless. "just keep swimming just keep swimming"
"I suffer from short-term remembery loss"
If you don't think that's one of the most adorable things ever YOU HAVE NO HEART
@@applebee28 I agree. I used to do a baby dory impression for my twin nieces... They were only about three so very easily impressed. But your right anyone who watches that and doesnt find it adorable must have a heart of stone 💜
Dory is one of the most adorable characters of all time, regardless of whether she was Baby Dory or Adult Dory.
Seeing Quasimodo being humiliated, tortured by Frolio is way beyond sad; it is depressing. Luckily, Esmeralda sees him as a good friend.
It's amazing he turned out to be such a gentle, virtuous man without a racist bone in his body. He was even willing to sacrifice for those who persecuted him.
"Frollo" not "Frolio"
Legit Quasimodo was a great character
@@thatgirl5340 True, but I know Quasi is happy that Esmeralda is his friend. He does love her but he knows her happines is with Phoebus and Quasi is just happy he has Esmeralda in his life as a friend, the first person to ever show him kindness. He's happy as long as Esmeralda is happy andthat she's his friend.
yeah such a religous mature turn for disney
So.... no Hector getting killed by this best friend and then having his wife and family refuse to put his picture up so he was separated from his family and daughter for over 90 YEARS!?!? Not even a mention??? What is this WatchMojo!!?
I think ms mojo is forget about that
Not even an honorable mention?
Dude, there are so many lists shoving them into 10 is hard.
They said they would only include backstories that happened before the main story started, Hector's happened in the middle of the film
다은박 But Jessie’s backstory was introduced at the middle of the movie!!!
I agree. Nick Wilde's backstory was very sad. I hate those scout bullies.
As much as I hate to see Judy bullied, Nick’s backstory is very sad.
Gerard Gianoli, II Indeed!
Jacob Anderson Wow! Sounds horrible to me.
Jacob Anderson I see.
Me too. When I keep watching the movie, I can't help but watch that scene.
Finally Quasi gets some recognition! I would've added also Hector from "Coco". Great list, though!
Give him a hug already. He deserves it.
I thought the same thing when I saw Quasi was on here. Hector is a good one to add
Nick Wilde’s in Zootopia (2016) and Dory’s in Finding Dory (2016) are indeed the saddest same for Marlin’s in Finding Nemo (2003); You should make one for Universal Pictures animated characters' sad backstories next. I also hope that Garfield (2024) has a tear jerker opening explaining how Garfield’s mother died when he was a kitten and him and his dad’s gluttony are just their emotional eating over her death. I also hope that Sing 3 will have a tear jerker opening focusing on how Claudia Crystal Porsha Crystal’s mother and Jimmy’s wife died when Porsha was young and the reason why Jimmy became a villain to begin with and what caused Porsha and Johnny’s passions for music and becoming musicians and how Johnny’s mother and Big Daddy’s wife died when he was four and tear jerker scenes focusing on how Nick Wilde’s father and Fru Fru’s mother Mrs. Big also died in the opening to Zootopia 2 with Nick’s mother and Fru Fru’s father raising them on their own.
And Porsha’s drama queen attitude and overprotectiveness towards her friends and her relationship with them was caused by the death of her mom and living with a cruel father for twenty years before she met and joined the Moon Theater Family in Sing 2.
Imagine a tragic backstory for Suki Lane in Sing 3 where she used to have a greyhound husband and seven year old saluki dog children but they were all actually killed by Jimmy after they accidentally “embarrassed” him and it was what caused Suki to become so heartbroken, cranky, bitter and haughty and cynical and pessimistic related to how Clay Calloway was after the death of his wife Ruby before being set right by Ash and why she hated Jimmy so much and became determined to overprotect Buster and his friends from him at all cost before Buster Moon and Porsha Crystal, Rosita and Johnny helped her overcome all those flaws in Sing 2 and she finally had the courage alongside Porsha to finally stand up to and have Jimmy arrested and incarnated for all his crimes and Suki joined the Moon Theater Family alongside Porsha Crystal, Nooshy, Clay Calloway and Darius and Suki and Buster possibly formed a romantic relationship so Suki could get married and have koala and saluki dog puppy kids and give having a spouse and kids a second chance related to Manny from Ice Age (2002), Marlin from Finding Nemo (2003), Shrek from Shrek (2001), Nick Wilde and Branch from Trolls (2016) and Zooptoia (2016).
Yo where the heck is Héctor from Coco? I have never felt so sorry for a Disney character in my life. He was betrayed by his friend who stole his songs and murdered him when he was only 21. Then, because he was never able to return home, his wife grew bitter and angry at him, believing that he had abandoned her and their daughter, Coco. As a result, she banished the one thing Héctor was known for; his songs, thereby completely erasing his legacy from the Rivera family history. Meanwhile, in the Land of the Dead, Héctor became a lonely, broken, down on his luck skeleton who was rejected by Imelda, his wife, after she arrived, and was unable to reconnect with her. He is the laughingstock of other musicians who mock him for his cause of death, not knowing that he was actually murdered. He’s forced to use trickery and conman tactics just to get basic things he needs. He’s forced to deal with the fact that his best friend used his songs without ever giving him credit and became wildly famous. Because his living family has never put up his photo, Héctor is unable to cross the bridge so see his daughter, Coco, whom he loves so much and has been trying so hard just to reunite with her. And to top it all off, he’s on the verge of being forgotten with no means of revealing the truth about himself and gaining his redemption before he dies for good. And that’s all before the actual events of the movie!
Well heck...
@PAZRTY Rutland well it's been two years since I wrote that comment but it probably took a long time
Very sad backstory...
I know it’s new but I think coco should have been included for Hector’s backstory
Agreed.
Imagine Finding Nemo 3 revealing that Coral was the one who saved Nemo when he was an egg from the barracuda and Coral sacrificed herself to save Nemo and was her own child she managed to save. So Nemo owes his life to his mom before she died.
Finding Dory made me have more faith in Disney Sequels.
Same thing with Toy Story 2 and 3.
@@janmikhailgaid4562 I loved those movies. Even though I was a little kid and I had no idea what was going on
toy story 2 was the best
Same with incredibles 2
Pixar is better than Disney at making good sequels.
Up is one of my favorite Pixar movies of all time and Carl’s backstory never fails to make the audience shed tears.
Rest in Piece Ed Asner
Hector from Coco should be on the list too. If his backstory isn't sad, then I don't know what it.
Who else doesn't get why Mittens from Bolt isn't on the list.
@@ailamckinnell7673 they're talking about hector from coco not bolt
As sad as Dory's backstory was Marlon's was sadder he literally loses his wife and all but one of his kids in a blink of an eye which is why he's so protective of Nemo and fears of anything bad happening to him.
Like being fish napped by divers.
@@theenergetichopecat7006 Maui and Mittens too.
*Number 1:* Walt Disney
*Backstory:* Back in his days, he's poor and he forced himself to eat dog food for survival. That's sad!
I didn't know that, that's horrible
Yeah not to mention, his mother died shortly after he bought her and his father a house. This is the reason why most Disney princess or other characters Don't have a mom
That's so sad :(
And that made him get Nazi ideas and being anti Jews
What? No!
"Only flashback backstories allowed."
6 minutes later...
"Tod is left in the forest by Widow Tweed."
Better than in the book. What do I mean? Well in the book...let's just say it doesn't END well for both the titular characters
@@MrWill9002 I know...😬
@@CrazyIshan69 Heck that's a lot of adaptations in a nutshell. Little Mermaid, Hunchback of Notre Dame...
@@MrWill9002 Yeah. Snow White too.
@@CrazyIshan69 At least for the Evil queen and the sisters in Cinderella
Poor Quasimodo. *hugs the poor guy*
What about Héctor Rivera though? He had a really sad back story, too. 😢
so sad for dory when she lost her parents and i'm so happy for dory when she found her parents
10 feel bad for the princess
9 train yourself to Letgo
8 nobody deserves a muzle
7 trust me I not sure got rusty eyes now
6 I'm not questioning her theory
5 that's harsh
4 determine for love
3 remember the one who care for you
2 that's a tearjerker
Hm Ralph can be respected too
Hm I never seen it
Hm darn
1 I've seen examples he lives to stand what's right
Wait... What ever happened to Maui from "Moana" and Mittens from "Bolt"?
I agree. Their backstories were sad. I think Hector from Coco and Rapunzel should be on the list too.
King Triton from the Little Mermaid
What about branch from trolls ,I mean his grandma was eaten and he spent like 20 years unhappy with every thing and every one
@@molly4857 the movie "Trolls" wasn't made by Disney. It came from DreamWorks.
MITTENS!
This had me all in my feelings. My only thing was: The Fox and the Hound. While definitely a sad moment, her dropping him in the woods wasn't a backstory. It happened a good deal into the movie.
Yeah. The left in the forest scene gets to me everytime.
Damn this list. The fox and the hound is a best tear-jerking movie ever.
I think you forgot Hector Rivera.
Yeah sooo true
I think Vannelope’s backstory is sadder than Ralph's.
Which is why Ralph decided to make things up to her.
Ralph had it bad for much longer. 30 years
@@jchandlersabeast Time doesn't matter, and time doesn't care. Trauma is still trauma regardless of how long it lasted
kittenautie it does matter. Trauma for a long period of time is no longer trauma. Its torture
I think so too it was very upsetting that she was the actual main character and King Candy (Turbo) deleted her code and made everyone forget who was the actual ruler of Sugar Rush!
"What did I do wrong you guys! What did I do!" That's so sad and it broke my heart the way he was yelling for a reason😭
Vanellope's backstory was sadder than Ralph's. Just my opinion? Probably bc I'm a wreck it Ralph freak
melody 5009 right she’s bullying some people can relate to that
Lol
Dory’s baby scene was actually spilling tears out of my eyes
How can u not give Jim at least an honourable mention?? I cry every time “I’m still here” plays
I know the thumbnail was Dory, but I just clicked for Meg.
EDIT: What the FUCK!!! Not even an honorable mention?
Right? That was disappointing...Hercules is so underrated v.v
Same with me for Coco. Hèctor is one of the characters who has a very sad backstory. First, He had to leave his wife and daughter because he was forced to from Ernesto. Then, he was murdered by his best friend, Ernesto de la Cruz(without him realizing that Hèctor has a family that cares for him). Lastly, he is being forgotten by his own family, especially his daughter, Coco. I would say that this character should be on the list, or even on the honorable mention list due to how Hèctor's backstory is truly heartbreaking😢
I agree, and Jim should've been an honorable mention too
@@RedRoseSeptember22 I am punching my cussion right now LOL
What about Jim from Treasure Planet?? Such an underrated movie I swear
I agree. That movie doesn't have the recognition and respect it should have.
Yes, yes it is
Jessie's Past Was Very Sad
The three movies that made me cry, not just have tears run down my face, but made me pause the movie and cry were Finding Dory, Bing Bong, and Up.
bing bong isn't a movie.
@@jclkaytwo yeah lmao its inside out
2:12 Lewis: Then why'd she give me up?!
Maybe because she felt she couldn't provide for you.
You forgot to add Oliver from "Oliver and Company." The poor kitty was left orphan and totally alone to the harsh streets of New York City. :(
@Penny And when he DOES get adopted, he faces a spoiled poodle named “Geogette” who later gets rid of Oliver from the home....
Good that things get better at the end of the movie.
Poor Nick, He and Alex have a soft spot in my heart.
When lilo said “I remember everyone who leaves” that hit different 😢
That so sad 😭
I don't really know why 'Up' is on this list. I understand that it's heartbreaking when Ellie dies and the fact that they couldn't have kids but, if u think about it, he was happily married for decades to a woman who he truly loved. I personally think that Tarzan should be on the list instead, I mean his parents were murdered, Kerchak didn't accept him and he grew up thinking that there was no one else like him in the world.
Where's Jim? Where's my freakin baby boy Jim Hawkins?
Yes!!! If it makes ME cry, it needs to be on this list!!!!
God, I had horrible dreams after I saw that movie when I was younger. It made me cry so hard
@@inkheart151 And it definitely deserves to be on this list!
Matis Red Roses ikr?! I feel soo sad for poor jim everytime!!
Matis Red Roses that’s exactly what I was saying sksksksks
Can’t believe Jim is not even a honorable mention 💔 I cry every time I see that movie
My favorite are up Carl fredrickson and dory
Jessica Carter Me Too
What about Hector from coco
Regarding Bing Bong; who says you have to let go of imaginary friends, when you grow up?
For creative types like me, holding onto and thinking about such friends helps us think up new ideas for stories. Just look at what Tolkien and C.S. Lewis did
I'm not crying your crying 😥😭😭😭
Yep. As much as I hate to see Judy bullied, Nick’s story is very sad. Those scouts are jerks!
Gerard Gianoli, II Yeah!
Four awesome Dancing chicks My guess is that their parents taught them to defend themselves from predators. They must have been taught too well and turn into jerks.
Who doesn’t hate them? They just big jerks, in a squeal we need the leader (the woodchuck) to apologize! Actually, while we’re at it, the whole gang! Nick had such a hard life, to not have anyone to look at him as who he really was, until Judy came along
Great list, but I wish Doc Hudson had at least gotten an honorable mention. Also, could you guys do a Top Ten Saddest Animated Non-Disney Character Backstories? Disney's great, but we all knew this would be half Pixar.
I don’t think Back To The Future is a Disney movie.
What about Hector from coco. That's not sad enough
I think Cauhoon “sorry if I misspelled,” from Wreck it Ralph should have been on this list. She is programmed with a backstory that pulls our heart strings. Her husband dies on her wedding day, because she didn’t do a perimeter check. Her husband was eaten by a sci-bug, and had to shoot it. Also with the creepiest the theories about the sci bugs mutation, add on the fact it made her an insecure wife at first when Felix said “dynamite gal.” And then you have one of the most disturbing and sad backstories in the Disney franchise.
Oh my gosh that sounds so disturbing I would not wanna be friend her! If I had to befriend somebody give me Quasimodo of a cow who won! CAMroN is disturbing and creepy. Quasimodo is loving and friendly and humble give me him to help rather than Calhoun.
I may not have liked Inside Out but when I first watched it and Bing Bong disappeared I bawled like a baby. And the moment Widow Tweed abandons Todd gets me crying every single time.
I didn't even know Lilo backstory was that dark. Even when I was older I never knew she mentioned what happened to her and Nani parents and the fact she feeds that fish thinking it controls the weather is so horrible as if it's a way it could change the past and prevent any other to happen in the future. Also I just watched the hunchback last night and I feel both Quasimodo and Esmeralda could be #1 but we never really got to know why her and her people were outcasted in the first place
The Fox and The Hound will always make me cry, I can be happy watching this and it’ll become tears of immediate sadness when Tod has to be left behind.
I am surprised no one mentions Penny from The Rescuers...
Eh, it's a very sad backstory that helps make the movie more charming, but even at that, its sequel is just unbeatable in terms of quality and more!
They attacc
They protecc
But most importantly they have
Flashbacc
See Dory 💙
🐟
What about Scar!?
I know he's a villain but he has a very sad backstory!
I actually cried watching this...
Oh my gosh! I was doing so so good and then bam...Fox and Hound😫. And let the water works begin 😢😭
Thanks for making me cry all over again with bing bong
Great I cried with a little clip from the fox and the hound
1:44 well, at least Anastasia gets a redemption arc.
I think Venelope has a pretty bad back story. I mean, she was ripped of who she was, forced to be an outcast, disregarded by her own game. She was picked on for being different, and I feel that she could have at least been an honorable mention
Inside out is such a beautiful movie with the most amazing plot
love them all. great job MsMojo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I break down every time I watch up cause it reminds me of how my grandparents grow and fell in love together but they had 3 beautiful children
Honorable mentions:
Maui (Moana), Mittens (Bolt), Doc Hudson (Cars), Hector (Coco), Marlin and Nemo (Finding Nemo.)
8:35
marlin: I dont believe this!
dory: No it's True I forget things Almost Instantly!
dory: It runs In my Family!
dory: well I mean at Least I think it Does..
*Dory thinks for an Moment*
dory: Where Are They?
*Looks at Marlin*
Dory: Can I help You?
me: *WHEEeZZzE*
HOW DID U NOT INCLUDE HECTOR FROM COCO???!!!!
The fox and the hound scene makes me cry everytime
Ms. Mojo, I finally agree with your number 1 pick.
I personally think that Dory has a very upsetting backstory she's a fish that lost her memory and she kept looking for something for years without knowing what it is, everyone thinks she's stupid or she can't do something, and she's also voiced by Ellen DeGenerous who has a very upsetting backstory as well!
She definitely had an upsetting backstory! You said my thoughts! And everybody didn’t think she was very smart! When really she was! And she was only trying to live her life.
*That's a pretty hardcore origin story.*
Which one?
This is the fourth MsMojo video where the top spot is from the Hunchback of Notre Dame, and I love it
Ms. Mojo just knows that many girls are on their periods right now. Damn.
lmao

On it RN lol
Doki Doki XD
RoseTylerTheDoctor HOW DID U KNOW?!
I feel like some of these moments make you think and be grateful for everyone and everything we have
Tbh Dory and Hector have the saddest backstories. They both make me cry over and over again.
Dory’s story made me tear up
Thank you, MsMojo.
This list got me to ugly cry.
Which scene you weep the most?
Great video
no dory's was the saddest period... :'(
Frowny face frowny face robinson bummer handeysomace
Monitor says nothing 🤓
Those 10 seconds from Lilo and Stitch have me collapsed, ugly crying in the club
Oh the Fox and the Hound, 😥 geezes
Omg why do the foxes have to do in for me! I got teary eyed at Nick and then off went the water works with Todd! That song gets to me all the time especially now because that song was in my head when my cat was dying. So yeah, if you needed more reasons to cry at that song, imagine your pet dying while that song is in your head! You're welcome! :D
Omg I just imagined that and I started crying. Yea why is it always the foxes that have the hardest lives?!?!
The Fox & the Hound gets my cryin EVERY time! Especially when the widow leaves Tod in the forest.
Awesome video
Very very great list I like it a lot and a lot of fun too and very funny too
Just watching those few seconds of Dory reuniting with her parents made me cry again😭😭😭
I was literally on the edge crying
I forgot how sad moments were. 🙁
Héctor Rivera from Coco should be included in this list !
Bruno deserves it. Can you imagine being disliked and hated by everyone in his village and most of your family. All because you had a gift that you couldn't control. He didn't choose to do these prophecies and fortunes on purpose. And the one time he didn't have one for his sisters wedding he his greatly hated for it for a long time. He gave up his life and part of his sanity to spare Maribel the same fate he had to deal with for much of his life. The trauma and anxiety has greatly affected him.
Oh gottz, The Fox and the Hound! That scene with Widow Tweed leaving Todd in the nature preserve, that song that plays ALWAYS makes me cry.
I feel like Wall-e should be on this list. At least as an honorable mention. His entire line was created to clean up an overpolluted Earth for nearly a thousand or so years. But not only was there too much trash to deal with, his fellow bots began breaking and he was left with only a bug for company. Worst part is that he uses the salvaged parts of his broken and deactivated brethren to sustain himself whenever he starts warring down. It’s super messed up.
How is it that Hector didn’t receive even a mention
I haven’t watched fox and the hound but just hearing about Tod’s backstory made me tear up a bit. I see why it’s so high up on the list
Bing Bong, Dory and Jessie made me cry soooooo much 💔🥺
I agree with others on the fact that Hector deserved to be on this list. Poor guy just went on a tour with his so-called "best friend" to spread his passion of music, but after he got homesick, decided he was getting nowhere and wanted to go home to his wife and daughter, he gets murdered, his songs and his guitar (which was given by Imelda) are stolen, is unable to cross the bridge to reunite his family who now hate him because of a misunderstanding. Brb gonna go cry again 😭
MsMojo: *includes Jessie's backstory*
Me: *swearing in disney*
I’m not crying your crying

Thank You so Much For Giving Poor Quasimodo appreciation 🥺😢😞😭💔
I literally cannot watch Fox and the Hound at all without sniffling and crying. I'm dead serious. MsMojo only showed us a clip of the saddest scene and I literally have tears in my eyes.
you really should have added hector from coco. it made me cry so hard i think it is the saddest backstory ive ever heard
I never cried at any of these backstorys, but they still give me the feels.
Compared to Quasimodo, Rapunzel had it pretty damn good.
