7/10
Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?
Gospel for a new century is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard in a long time
BIMMOM what does "I’ve ever heard in a long time" mean?
@@thewoat6589 it's pretty obvious, I dont know if you're just stupid or what the problem is
gum ball it’s bad fucking grammar shit bird.
“Ever” implies forever and thus “in a long time” is redundant.”
The sentence would be correct if he said “Gospel for a new century is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard” OR “Gospel for a new century is one of the best songs I’ve heard in a long time.
But he had a stroke. And tried to do both with either side of his brain.
Then check out TV On the Radio if you've never listened before. The song is a dead ringer for one of theirs.
gum ball is it ever or in a long time? Idk
Yves is one of the most relevant artists in music right now and people dont even know it
Agreed! His music is so different while still seeming familiar enough to newer listeners imo
Because of marketing. That's why they're not known. Another reason... Its a black artist that totally and purposefully lives outside of the norms of what society expects. That's the beauty of their creativity and persona. And nobody really knows how to properly market them.
And its inspiring to me.
then they are not relevant
the radio sucks im sure if they blasted kerosene! on the radio it would be on charts & shift the whole industry. they make incredible music and have an amazing creative team
They're still so slept on I only just heard Kerosene! last year which was my introduction
Romanticist to dream pallette transition is the highlight of 2020
so so sick
Literally just listened to these songs and it’s sooo good
a lot's happened since you posted this LOL
FR
FACTS
This album is at least a strong 8 - light 9, c'mon Melon
Youre goddamn right, at least an 8
I don't think so. I felt this is 9, however after track #8 "Super Star" there are very weak songs that completely destroys the epicness of this album to just "slightly better than average album you usually hear". It's a big shame because it still has maybe even three songs that has potential to be placed on best 100 songs of 2020.
Great to see a South African (I hope) here enjoying great music.
Getting a 7 is really good from fantano tho lol
@@Randhawa241 v
I thought he was wearing the red flannel and I was about to throw down
This is super confusing to me: Why do I have TWO amazingly attractive girlfriends even though I am the unprettiest UA-camr EVER? Good night dear joy
Simple answer, you don't. Fuckin virgin
"The oddity of Bowie's work" I see what you did there, Melon.
March, 16th:
Puts Kerosene! in the Meh Section of his Weekly Track Roundup
April, 9th:
2:43 - "The Fantastic Kerosene! Is a Moody, Righteous duet...."
I'm glad you've come to see the light, Anthony.
My favourite song of the year so far
this was my journey with the song too i can't blame him
It sounds much better the way it fits within the album
@Bryan Stevens good point
Lol he did the same thing with Strawberry Privilege
yves tumor will be the artist people think of 15 years from now when they say they were born in the wrong generation.
Medicine burn is slept on. probably one of the best songs on the album in my opinion
Super stars my favs
The bridge or whatver you want to call it at 0:50 is fucking fantastic. I wish it was longer
AND SIX HUNDRED TEETH 😬🎸🎸
@@BurntWifi AND SIX HUNDRED
best song on the album fs
I just clicked to see how to pronounce "Yves". Out
You made my day sir
yves' work is really good, should get more attention
Anthony looking like he about to chug three bottles of vodka in one go...
W
SLAVIC SQUATANO.
"AGAIN!"
Paulito8000 literally me right now 😔😔👊
On March 15th, 2020 you named “Kerosene!” a “meh” track on your weekly track roundup causing panic, confusion, disorientation, and frustration in me and many others. You had over 3 weeks to rectify your action.....
And I’m glad you did.
when the guitar solo came in on Kerosene, I ascended
two years later and this album still has my fucking heart
I. Can’t. Get . Enough. Of. This. Album
Anthony, you only gave this album a 7 because Heaven to a Tortured Mind, a surreal celebration of soul, Britpop, and glam rock, has greater clarity and flourish than Yves Tumor's previous work.
Safe in the hands of love is still his best album, though.
thats a weird way of saying exeter is 10/10
I guess my music taste is “half baked” because his least favorite track from SITHOL was Honesty and his least favorite track here is Hasdallen Nights; these two are my favorite songs on the records lmao
Mr. Bassist wow. i have the same exact fave tracks... is this a personality type?
hasdallen lights is amazing, drum samples are on another level
Nope, you just have different taste
Anthony's taste has been half-baked as of late. Most critics seem to love this album, and I think it's one of the best this year.
Hasdallen lights🔥
"SUPER STARS" is in the "FAV TRACKS" that's all I needed. Thank you. have a nice day.
Lol same. I came here after listening to this song for the first time last week. It's soo good!
Why is Melon talking about David Bowie the entire video when this is Yves Tumor’s album?
yves tumor's real name is sean bowie. he wasnt talking about david bowie
@@luiscedeno7856 all comments r trolling
Wow, these comments are the least funny thing I’ve ever read
They got old like 4 years ago
They're all aiming for top comment, it's so annoying. It's like that one guy actively trying to be the funniest person in the room
Creating genuinely funny UA-cam comments is an art,but this comment section is mostly dumb dudes repeating the same tired old joke
The majority of Anthony's comments are just autists making memes.
Warp easily has the most interesting artists on its roster.
id say neck and neck with Jagjaguwar
I think it's always been like that! Well reliable record label
Why does melon keep talking about David Bowie? 😡
Max Ramsay Yves Tumors real last name is Bowie. 🤦🏾♂️
Huston Shcarr Don’t believe you
Tom Mitchell ok 🤷🏾♂️
Are you slow?
No relation?
I haven't bought an album in years, I normally stick to my genre of metal/prog and occasionally hip hop. But by chance I saw this album being advertised on my instagram. Thought the visuals was pretty cool, it was The single was Gospel for a New Century. When I heard it the first time I digged it, second time even better. Then I gave the whole album a listen, I bought it. Wanted to actually by the cassette cause I still have a cassette player in my car. Early days still, but 2020 album of the year for me so far.
"Gospel for a New Country"
Please, stop appropriating slav culture with the Adidas tracksuits man.
Melon, stop tryin' to seduce me with that beautiful, sensual unzipped jacket.
Oh sh-
Dammit Anthony, I have like 50+ artists I still need to listen to, how dare you recommend us so much interesting music??
You're RIGHT
I... Agree.
decent review mr melon but I'm pretty sure yves tumor uses they/them
No. He uses gender neutral and he/him. Read his interview with NY times
i couldn’t care less that you couldn’t care less
Declan Morgan 👌🏻 thanks, wasn't quite sure
@@jwwtc5144 it's 2020 fam
Declan Morgan and?
Strawberry Privilege alone should give this an 8 gat Damn
The album gradually changes, and this changes doesn’t affect the overall experience and the transitions are very well done.
from asteroid blues(fantastic instrumental) to A greater love was a beautiful conclusion with the dreamy beginning, the guitar playing on the background and the ending fade was just espectacular.
The mixing and the progression of the album really impressed me.
Masterpiece.
The transition from Romanticist to Dream Palette is so mf good!
I love it. Have a feeling you might come back to this in about five years to say it was a mite better than you first thought. You know, in one of those, 'If I reviewed it now' takes. Loves ya x
ah yes, i get to listen to an artist with 'tumor'in the name without getting ridiculed by my fellow friends. thank you, mr. fantano
Hasdallen lights and strawberry privilege are my favorites was really surprised you didn't mention them
the fact that an album of this magnitude got a 7 destroys any and all credibility you had oxy clean man
I really like how your Adidas zipper kept on going down as the video went on. Great video!
Tracksuits= 7
come on man this is at least a strong 8. it's a light 9 in my book, the ending could have been stronger but it's still a great album. also yves uses they/them pronouns
Hey I’m gonna do an actual comment about the album, watch me I’m edgy af
I actually really enjoy this album and it got introduced to me via an ad. I think ad music videos are actually pretty cool.
I found out about Yves because spotify recommended, its a good tactic when your music is different enought to catch your attention for it and paying it off
Caio Machado same idea just with a youtube ad, and with so many ads being insufferable it’s a welcome change to catch something genuinely interesting.
The video for kerosene is wild too so that helped. Get a lot of ads from Run For Cover records which can sometimes be pretty good too
Hey Anthony! I was told to comment on your latest video if I wanted to recommend an album for you to review or just listen to. The name of the band is Calibro 35 and their album I'm recommending is DECADE. They're an Italian Jazz/Funk/Alternative Rock band according to Wikipedia and honestly, I've never really gotten into Jazz or Funk before but if this is either of those two I'm already in love with. The band doesn't seem that popular since there isn't a whole lot of videos done on them so maybe you could also give them some recognition to a mainly American audience of yours (Assuming your main demographic is American don't quote me). I hope you enjoy it!
3:33 A melon flew around my room before you came
NEVER BEEN THIS EXCITED FOR A REVIEW. THANK YOU ANTHONY
Did he even talk about Medicine Burn?
I thought this was a great review. I already loved this album, but some of your thoughts make me enjoy it anymore, as I did not think of them originally. Great job, Anthony. Thank u :)
A greater love was my favorite track off this record. I felt alot of blood orange similarities throughout this whole mommy.
I am here now to tell melon he should do a review on the strokes album now
I personally like When Man Fails You the most. As much as I love his evolution. Thats old stuff is gold.
Please review the Tom misch and yussef dayes album “what kinda music” that’s coming out on April 25th. They’ve released a few tracks already which are worth listening to
Rowan Berkley Usually it’s thanks to Fantano that I find new music but wow, thanks to a comment on one of his videos I found a great artist in Tom Misch! Thank you, I just listened to a couple of tracks and they’re wonderful
WHY ISN'T EVERYONE DISTURBED THAT HE FINALLY SAID HIS NAME RIGHT
I have been listening to this album everyday since this album came out 🖤
Antknee it's Unkle Adams' birthday today, can you send him an original happy birthday message?
Although you shitted on one of my favorite songs (Hasdallen Lights), I can't help but to agree with most of everything else that you said. Yves is growing into his own and expanding his sound, getting better and better.
Damn, Hasdallen Lights was what got me into Yves Tumor. I was expecting more songs closer to that weird emotional mathy sound and had to warm up to what it really is.
is "Lifetime" the emotional mathy sound that you're talking about?
The red tracksuit threw me off really hard, but I'm glad to see you liked it.
Anthony I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new Honey Harper record. I think it’s worth checking out for sure
Great review anthony
That unzipped jacket is making me wanna risk it all, Anthony.
Love, Uncle Melon
About to give this a listen. I enjoyed Hope In Suffering off the previous record for its straight up Skinny Puppy vibe, and while it sounds like there's a lot less of that this time around, I'm still hyped.
what did you think?
“Gospel for a new country”
1:40 new country? Can somebody confirm I heard that correctly?
yup
Fantano out here spreading fake news, this is it. He's going down now boys
He would've given a 7 if this was an Yves Tumor album
something i found out recently is that hes the same guy behind the vaporwave project TEAMS
7/10 on heaven to a tortured mind has me pretty much vindicated in how I felt when he gave Yeezus 5/10. HMU anthony I want to ship you some q-tips

This is the 62nd review of 2020
Comment copied and pasted by“Andrew K” please don't hate on him :]
Theres been 2 9/10's.
I wish your reviews were tabulated by genre somehow. I would love some recommendations on good EDM releases!!!
Ah yes melon. You wear red while reviewing an album about god, truly showing your atheism.
I didn't know we found Waldo and he was also a Gopnik.
"he"
Whoa.. wasn't expecting a 10
Very original
IDC if its his last name, you cant refer to him as "Bowie"
I liked his last album a lot, and I think I like this one too, even though I don't think they sound much alike at all.
dream palette is one of my favorite songs of all time
The video is 6 minutes long and has been posted 1 minute ago...how come there are 9 dislikes??!!
give Diana Gordon's EP Wasted Youth a review (sings beautifully on Kerosene)
NBA 2k22 had Gospel for a new century on it and I now have discovered a new great artist.
Will you be reviewing the new peach pit album?
Melon out here lookin like Barry Dillon
I thought the album was great and completely agree with your score. I also hear a little TVOTR when I listen to Yves Tumor
they go by they/them ://
Who is Bowie? When you are talking about Yve? Sorry I am lost in translation 😔
Yea his name is Sean Bowie
Please review catfish and the Bottlemen, I think you might like them
Anthony lookin like a Russian gangster with the open track suit jacket rn
Review "FROMTHEHEART - things happen, it's ok!" pleaseee
i swear first time i go to the album i read ''gospel for a new country'' too, i don't blame you melon
damn he liked super stars so much he put it in his favorite tracks twice 😳
imagine yves never reach the loved list from fantano💀
Anyone know what specific adidas jacket Anthony is wearing?
Quarantine life has Melon wearing a wife beater under a track jacket.
Yo John Lindahls new album is worth a review. It is a full complete album that is full of amazing beats and storyline from track 1-12
i don’t see the comparison to Ariel Pink other than genre, Yves does more w vocals/drums/noise that makes him really stand out!
a better comparison would be maybe structurally(?) to a dev hynes cause N-Swan and Angel’s Pulse both seem very similar to Yves last album imo
Red shirt shook me to the core
You should check out Jacob Collier's In My Bones. I think it's one of his more mainstream appealing tracks and one his best at that.
Fine Anthony. I guess you are a 7 too
The new abnormal is out. Let’s hear a review
His other projects under different names were really good
Melon getting in touch with his inner mafioso with that unzipped Adidas tracksuit.
You're description must be for a different album/artist to the Yves, Heaven to a.... album I know!
we getting a little dragon review???
