I’m 23 (almost 24) and started almost 2 years ago, so I think is never too late... unless you want to compete at a Olympic level. But if you’re doing it for the fun of it and want to challenge yourself go ahead 👌🏼☺️
I skated for 3 years when I was younger and now im 21 and will start again but i lost all flexibility i ever had and that worries me but now im inspired :)
These are literally all my secrets to flexibility😂 I sit in the first stretch at restaurants and with my leg up next to my face in the car. Also, backbends are key to back stretching!! So you should include those in your routine if you don’t already♥️
@@kittycontortion3190 being a good gymnast is way more than being flexible. Being flexible is needed for many moves, but it's not all you need! I can bend a lot but never did gymnastic
Sis I been doing this every day while watching my series for the past 2.5 months and I was naturally flexible but I almost got my split (not middle split tho)... I- ... These lazy stretches helped me, I'm currently preparing to start figure skating again after I stopped years ago~
Thank you so much for posting this!!! My question is... What was your flexibility level BEFORE you started figure skating? Did you have your splits? Could you do the Bielmann spiral?
Natalia Shershakova i’m so happy you liked it!!! before i started i didn’t have any of my splits and could barely grab onto my leg with both arms but couldn’t bring it up at all! if you’re more consistent than i am you’ll get it fast and get really far!
minasmiles to do the Biellmann position a great deal of back flexibility (as well as shoulder flexibility) is required. I try to do back stretches but I get major lower back pain when I do them. Did you have that too? How does one SAFELY achieve so much back flexibility in such a short period of time? Do you have any tips?
Natalia Shershakova i have the opposite problem! my back stretches without pain but lately i’ve been getting knee and quad pains from stretching my legs... which is why i haven’t stretched as much. but i think the most important thing when stretching is warming up well and pushing to your limits but not too much past! also make sure to stretch the opposite direction after stretching your back (a child’s pose or pike) if you do all these things and still get *stinging* pain (not a stretching discomfort) you might want to check in with a doctor because you should never blindly injure your spine.
minasmiles thanks for your reply! And I don't remember if you mentioned this in the video, but how long do you hold each stretch? I hear so many different ways of doing it. Some people say 15 s, some people say hold it long enough that your muscles give up and begin to release and relax.
Natalia Shershakova it completely depends on you... i personally don’t look at a clock when i stretch so i don’t know but i’d say 30-60 seconds would be accurate. the middle split stretch against the wall is the one i hold the longest with 3-5 minutes. :)
I used to be angry at my bf when he wanted to watch sth with me whenever I started stretching. From now on I can do both! At the same time! You're a genius! :D
Hi Mina, thank you so so much for this video. I watched this in May and I've become more flexible and I also lost some weight and feel healthier and stronger

OMG! Thank you thank you thank you!!! This video helped me so much, I followed along to it last night and it’s great! I made it an addition to my normal stretch routine, and I already see progress! I am a dancer, so I am looking for anyway to stretch other than my normal routine. ❤️
i wish i could meet you! im 17 and in GA and at first the winter olympics inspired me to want to ice skate, then Yuri, on ICE!!! which i have watched 3 times and now you are inspiring me even more! the only thing is that my ankles really burn when i get on the ice when i do laps but i REALLY want to skate. also my city rink doesnt offer lessons...advice?
Brilliant this is exactly what I need! I started skating mid this year and want to be able to do mohawk's and outside spread eagles but can't for the life of me get my skates lined up :( Maybe guys are not as flexible by default, that's my excuse anyway :)
Hi I am 19 and started skating this week. I go 2 days in a week for 1 hour. I watched your progress video and wondered sth. How many hours did you traine in a week? Is it possible to have the same progression you had while training 2 hours a week? Also I am having a problem with my balance so do you have any suggestions for strengthening my balance?
hey!! in the beginning i only skated 2 hours a week as well but it became more and more as i progressed! it came to 2-4 times a week for 2 hours each. :) and try to balance on one leg with your eyes closed for as long as you can everyday! it’ll improve your balance so much! hope this helped
I’m like the representation of the thing that cannot be stretched and I tried standing positions but it’s really hard 😅 I will try those because I think that I can at least forget how hard it is by watching something 😉 Thank you soooo much !!! 😍😍
Omg i want to try this. Maybe I can make a video of my progress that would be so cool! How many months do you think I should practice for a god result? Maybe 3?
When u said to put your leg up at a 90° angle, I was like “oh this isn’t so bad.” Then u flattened it out and I was like “😀 I’m in danger” LMAOO i just started skating and I have my spiral but like BARELY technically cuz it’s not that high; it’s literally hip level and I feel I’m strong enough to hold it I think but I just LITERALLY can’t get flexible enough to extend it. So I’m trying the best I can to stretch more often 😭
Guys I swear do NOT stretch cold muscles like she said I was lazy and did it and I’m sore everywhere and it’s still sore now I can’t even do my basic flexibility thingies anymore😅
It can be. Group lessons are usually 30-60 dollars (in my area). As for private coaches, yes it can get expensive. Most of the time 1 minute= $1 per hour, so a 30 minute lesson would be 30 dollars. I got lucky and my coach wanted to coach me so its around $20 dollars for an hour ^^.
Have you always been flexible or did you learn how to be flexible? Because I want to learn how to figure skate and for that this video has encouraged me to try to be flexible at home, due to covid-19.
I did rhymic gymnastics since I was 4 till I was 10 (highly regretting dropping it, I was just being a pussy cause i don’t like pain) and the middle splits were my best and favourite ngl
