A soft pastel studio painting & drawing on Murano paper. Inspired by some plein air sketching during the week when the sun was actually shining!

A lesson in 'light touch'. Beautifully captured. Thank you. Oh, and I was born in Redruth.

Just wanted to say thank you for all your videos. There are many skilled artists on UA-cam, but because they stick to just one medium they can become a little boring. Because you feature different media, your videos are always fresh and inspiring.
    Thank you.

Despite what medium you use the same principles apply like composition, values etc. Great work my friend.

Yes, painting with soft Pastels IS messy but no other Medium is as bright and vibrant. Not even Oil. Wich you have shown here impressively.

Hi Andrew...great demonstration of your pastel technique ... really like the depth created with the road ... also the bright red berry tree next to the green bushes and allthe scratching details ... best area i like is the shadow across the road ... agree the wispy tree has just enough darkness and balances the composition nicely ...😊

Thank you Andrew, an inspiring lesson in pastel techniques. Even though I was given a box of pastels, I hardly use them, which is a shame as the colours are so vibrant. After seeing your atmospheric work, I could be tempted.

Hey Andrew ! I was happy to watch the video until the end. Glad you are enjoying painting with soft pastels performing with them. I particularly like the first automnal tree on the front.
On my side I am still enjoying working with them. This is captivating to train and progress finding our own way to use them, isn't it?
For the moment I don't share mines. I am working with passion on an impressionist study with extra-soft pastels Schmincke and Caran d'Ache pastels pencils. I think I will go on many studies with soft pastels after impressionists painters.
I also like naturalistic period in landscapes painting.
    The music was chilling out.
Friendly regards and my best wishes ✨

Lovely to see your soft-pastel process, Andrew, it turned out looking so serene and dreamy. Wish soft pastels weren’t so dusty because they are fun to use but not too practical for sketching. Speaking of which - I love the scribbly energy and vibrancy of the oil pastel sketch you did on-site! 😍I didn’t know Seawhite made oil pastels.

I agree about the plein air sketching with soft pastels - not very easy. Oil pastels maybe easier for that

daler rowney murano paper. art-tubers don't talk about it or review it very much but i love it. so many colours to choose from and different textures on each side of the sheet. i use it for tiled gouache studies and damp water colour pencil, obviously it wouldn't cope with too much water. i'm wanting to get into pastels and your beautiful picture is inspirational. thank you.

Thank you very much - I wasn't sure what paper to try with these pastels and noticed a friend had tried Murano. I like the fact it is double sided - one textured and the one I used which was smoother
