  • This video goes into the details of how to run a Joint Chemical Agent Detector (JCAD). The idea behind the JCAD is to have a point detection and area detection capability for chemical warfare detection. The steps for setting up both modes are presented along with the directions on properly storing the JCAD away. Keep in mind, sieve packs are hard to come by at this time. DO NOT OPEN A NEW SIEVE PACK unless you're about to engage in a real-world event. The original reason this video was made, was to ensure training on the JCAD would not consume any operational items. Recommend walking through the muscle memory of uninstalling/installing the two different modes for the JCAD to assure proper training. This video is property of DECON LLC.

What is the chemical that the confidence tester uses to test the JCAD?

Do you have any advice to keep the sieve packs from expiring after opening?

Once you've opened the vacuum sealed packaging, the sieve pack's life span begins to diminish. I would consult the user's manual to see what they suggest. The vacuum sealed foil wrap would suggest an airtight container with minimal to no light exposure would probably be best for storage.
