Thanks for including the Legend of the Bald Top Mountains. Beautiful hike and drone footage. I hope Akela doesn’t get mad at me but I have seen backpacks made for canines......to help out just a little?
YEs, I have used them in the past, but have found they are very hard to balance so they don't weigh more on one side than the other, and so can be uncomfortable/possibly harmful to their spine. So for these short hikes I'll carry it all. Its mostly camera equipment and rain gear for me. He'll have to carry his own toys if he want to bring them..LOL
Had a bit to do today and as my neighbor inadvertently cut our Spectrum internet cable in half yesterday with his backhoe while moving some debris to be burned, we have had no internet service until this evening. After a trip to the VA in Fayetteville, (unrelated to the drama/trauma of the internet being down, ie: son and wife) I got on here and saw your title to the video. First thought I had was: "Well, it had to happen sooner or later." (Finding dead people on a hike.) The immediate second thought was: "This aught to be interesting." (Flying the drone.) As in looking for the perpetrators of the first part of the title. You never fail to deliver. Oh yeah, good grab on the keys, that would have sucked big time. On the chance encounter with a bear and the pup beating you back to the Toyota, he would have found the keys on a full gallop, never missing a stride.
Ya, your probably right.... But I'm not sure he knows how to pop the hatch or open the doors with the key... he has no thumbs you know !! LOL Good to hear from you, I hope you have your life line to the internet repaired and better protected !!
@@GoingNoWhereFast He may have no opposing thumbs, but you know how smart Shepards can be. He would improvise something I'm sure. In rgard to thew internet cable, they trenched a bit and covered it with dirt. My portion of the road is dirt. The town is going to bring small crush and run rock on Monday to add to it.
Another great video, hopefully one day I can make it to NC on a vacation instead of a Hurricane, but I will send you some money for a sticker and to contribute to making more videos.
Thanks for the great the hiking adventure, Rick and Akela! I love the peace and quiet of these beautiful hills. Awesome drone footage :)) Hugs for you both … more safe and happy trails for you
I'm of the firm belief everyone should have a spare key hidden on the car somewhere. And I'm going to do that someday soon. LOL. It was a great day... Thanks for stopping by and commenting !
We have a convention in Crossville, TN in mid October - we have been all over the Gatlinburg area but have never heard of the Cherohala Skyway Dr. Amazing how we missed that. So we're checking it out this fall because of you. Thanks for your awesome camping video's. Love your music, Intro and all you do. Great pics after your video's end. I'm liking that. Keep on keeping on.
It takes about 2 hours to get a good 4 minutes of footage. But they are fun to fly and try to understand the technology behind them. Very cool, but expensive..... especially if you keep crashing and loosing them...LOL
Omg!!! That's so beautiful!! Thank you!! I'll have to go check this out.. and bring a bowl with a lid to pick some berries.. < lol > Another great video guys!!

Thanks. Appreciate the kind word and the comment !
Nice Rick!!! He’s (Akela)really growing starting to look like a full fledged German Shepherd...
I'm hoping he is about done growing. He already takes up too much of the bed at night !! LOL
It appears that they mow and bail hay up there. Is this private ground on top or just the Forest service mowing the hay?
I'm not sure. It was definitely a hayfield that had been cut and harvested. I would bet its leased by a famer from the NFS
Black Berries
Raspberrys, Black Raspberries, Or just Plain Black Berries, it's all Rubus occidentalis, and good eating (if you don't mind seeds !
Very nice Drone Footage.
Thank you. Its amazing how long it takes to get a few seconds of great drone footage... LOL

Such an interesting Story from so long ago, and so neat that they have kept it preserved and there. Thanks for the comment !
