  • Bachmann's line of 1:20.3 frameless tank cars have a lot to offer as many pieces from the Spectrum line do. The amount of detail on these units is amazing and makes them stand out compared to stock from the Big Haulers' line. With a long list of features and an eye catching look to these models, it's pretty clear Bachmann has delivered another quality product. The standard of these units is high and may have you considering adding a few to your indoor or outdoor Large Scale railroad.

Nice review. What caboose is that?

That is Bachmann's 1:20.3 Long Caboose. That model (like many Spectrum models) has been discontinued for years now and I was lucky enough to pick mine up for $109 just before they went out of stock.

Hello I’m curious on the length the “Gramps” tanker and width, I don’t have any 1;20.3 scale and just wondering and what turns will it work best on, so please reply back so I have some idea on. Thanks it’s a nice detail car and would like to purchase one.

This unit measures 5'" wide and around 18" long. Because it has body mounted couplers, it can't negotiate and curves less than 8' diameter. Sorry for the late reply, it's taken some time to get back in the workshop again.

S Gauge is the same as 1:64 scale, but you'll need to look around to find trains because it's not a common scale. American Flyer used to make S Gauge back in the day, but I believe American Models is the only company making them now.
