As a 54 yr old man that has spent his entire life placeing and finishing concrete since age 12, and union member since age 18, the 3D printing worries and excites me at the same time … It worries me because of the jobs lost for so many of us that didnt or dnt have an education and need a trade or enjoy working with our bodies.. Regarding the printed houses, two drawbacks come to mind. 1) All those grooves in every wall of the house are going to collect dust, making them more high maintenance than flat walls, and they're going to be harder to clean. On the outside, you could just hose them down or pressure wash them, but that's not possible on the inside. Too bad they don't have a machine to spackle them all flat. 2) If you need to make repairs/changes to the plumbing or wiring in the walls, you're going to have to break through concrete instead of just cutting a hole through sheetrock. Then when you go to repair the hole(s) in the wall, you're probably going to have a hard time recreating that striated pattern in the concrete. Also, I have a feeling this would weaken the walls in a way it wouldn't had they been sheet rock.
I was thinking the same thing with the striations that someone, or machine needs to smooth down the walls. The striated walls are attractive in some ways, but not all people are going to admire them, and will choose smooth walls. In cold climates many will want extra insulation sandwiched between the outer interior walls, and an interior sheet rock wall. I remember, years ago, reading in a newspaper that ‘in the future, men will have more time for leisure’. The article in that newspaper was talking about computers in the future. How they would benefit human. The time came and went and we see now the results; more and more people obsolete. All sorts of technical jobs, and professional, going extinct. university career obsolete. So, what are we doing? Where are we going? The rise of crime is not an accident. The exodus of people is not an accident. The rise in discrimination is not an accident. I need to add a basic correction. Fundamental idea for atom bomb came from Hungarian scientist, Leo Szilard, who is also responsible that the atom bomb was completed in time for use in Japan. Also, major engineering necessary to develop it came from him and another two Hungarian, including Edward Teller, who also started off inventing the Hidrogen bomb. Oppenheimer simply was the manager and not the inventor of the project operation.

No one ever talks about the fact that most of the equipment we have given Ukraine is 20 or 30 years old or more and would not be used by our modern military men and women.
@@dudeonyoutube She is right, a simple search will tell you that. "The list of American security assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s “unprovoked and brutal invasion” is impressive. What is more impressive is that $21.9 billion in U.S. military aid has been dominated by largely second-string gear, comprised of unpopular or lower-tech systems that were, in many cases, on the way to the scrapyard." "During the first months following the invasion, Nato preferred member countries to supply Ukraine with older tanks - ones that had been used in the former Warsaw Pact. Ukraine's armed forces know how to operate them, and how to maintain them, and had a lot spare parts for them. Modern Western tanks are more complicated to operate and harder to maintain."

You do understand that computers are written by people so their political views and bysness will automatically be in the system. There is absolutely no way a computer can think for itself, if only follows what it's told. So it will to random acts of the same program.
It depends if that includes the land costs, and housing in Austin is very expensive. I would be curious though how much you would save in labor and material costs.

Ugh. I just turned down an AI project for a originally legal search engine, who is developing AI to write legal works for lawyers, which would be filed with courts. I am so glad I am not selling myself for this, even though financially, I needed work. Ugh.
AI doesn't prevent bias or unintended bias. Garbage In, Garbage Out. Human's input is always subjective. Think about these: Define the color orange. Define morality. Define belief. Define democracy.
“ for sale. Baby shoes. Never worn.” This is the story that AI made up when requested to make a story with only six words. Apparently it touched the staff at 60 minutes very deeply. Very profound. That is the exact story that Hemingway supposedly wrote when asked to create a story with only six words. Anyway, the important thing is that the 60 Minutes staff should not be so impressed with creativity of AI by this example. This is just an obvious example of AI scraping the Internet.
That "for Sale..." story was written by Hemingway. AI continued it. Besides, what Hinton said was even though LLMs juggle with probabilities, it has intelligence, not conscuousness but intelligence. Chief engineer of Openai Ilya Sutskever himself said they dont fully understand whats happening inside LLMs, whats behind all those juggling. "a process of alchemy", thats how he put it.
There are way more examples than just Rich Paul. Wish we actually had someone that actually manufactured something. In other words the billionaires that are paying these athletes salaries. Owning these sports teams is just a hobby for them. Like owning a boat or motorcycle. They’re not dependent on the team they own.
In terms of the dark side of A.I. in the future, I think the movie Eagle Eye is an example of a worst case scenario Geoffrey Hinton was talking about. This moment in time is reminiscent of 25 years ago when the internet became mainstream. From generative AI (art, music, video, chat) to robotics to 3D printing to the metaverse - I am excited to see where we are in 25 years. Perhaps we can just beam over to our friends and family that live on the moon and mars.
I'm going to go on a rant now. We have the starting capability to program in analog as we do in digital. We understand enough of the human brain to add not just lost appendages but totally new ones and quickly adapt to them. We have open source llms that compete with GPT4 totally uncensored and private. We can print useful items with plastic in our homes. We are starting to live in science fiction. I see this as a turning point for us. We can use this to make a utopia or dystopia at the moment it's impossible to tell but I'm more for a bicentennial man future 😂😂😂

Wrong.
@@dudeonyoutubeExplain
@@dudeonyoutube She is right, a simple search will tell you that.
"The list of American security assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s “unprovoked and brutal invasion” is impressive. What is more impressive is that $21.9 billion in U.S. military aid has been dominated by largely second-string gear, comprised of unpopular or lower-tech systems that were, in many cases, on the way to the scrapyard."
"During the first months following the invasion, Nato preferred member countries to supply Ukraine with older tanks - ones that had been used in the former Warsaw Pact.
Ukraine's armed forces know how to operate them, and how to maintain them, and had a lot spare parts for them.
Modern Western tanks are more complicated to operate and harder to maintain."

That is what we are hoping for.
Computers or self learning. At this point, I think that’s a great thing they are not biased which leads to honesty, and I know that scares the hell out of some people.
You do understand that computers are written by people so their political views and bysness will automatically be in the system. There is absolutely no way a computer can think for itself, if only follows what it's told. So it will to random acts of the same program.

“ for sale. Baby shoes. Never worn.”
This is the story that AI made up when requested to make a story with only six words.
It’s true, AI very basically is a database of the collection and statistics of human reactions.
Imagine if it can do this now, it will be able to scrape our brains in the next question years
That "for Sale..." story was written by Hemingway. AI continued it.
Besides, what Hinton said was even though LLMs juggle with probabilities, it has intelligence, not conscuousness but intelligence.
Totally agree with your analysis. I'm also excited to see where this goes.

People who apologize when they make a mistake, shows great character. We are fortunate we have General Milley to prevent Trump from becoming a dictator.

The difference please?

You Sir General Milley, are a prime example of what is needed in leadership ability and intelligence to make strategic military decisions. To admit mistakes learn from them and to be a greater asset from your losses and victories than one who's incapable of ever admitting making a mistake therefore more never ever learning and having the ability not to retreat cut and run but redeploy!
He's such a great general he he was talkin to the Chinese and was never called out for that it he's such a great general that we have the lowest recruitment in the military and how many years? He's such a great general that he believed Trump was going to bring us to world war 3? He's such a great general that he's allowing soldiers to do transition on taxpayer money what other great things has he done please remind me. Here's a few more I want to add for you. He was responsible for for the pull-out in Afghanistan that killed 13 soldiers. He pushed for the fact that if we leave the equipment behind it would be a lot cheaper.
