there are is a pretty predictable ending to this anime which is the reason why most of the ppl dislike this anime but its also the reason why I like it, its a pretty simple romance story but executed nicely with a twist that the saddest and most interesting part isnt really the ending itself rather the constant pressure "the lead up" to the ending and also isla is just adorable (the girl with white hair) all in all I would give it a shot although the animation isnt really the best :P

I mean.. guys :' ) Ps vita game has alternative canon ending, I mean.. one of the 3 paths. 1. Anime one ( isla is retrieved ) 2. Isla turns into wanderer 3. It's about Doctor yu ( giftias system inventor I believe ) which puts isla into deep sleep as the doctor was making a program or something that endures / allows giftias to live forever ? very long or so. So she, Dr. yu, puts Isla into deep sleep for a bit and then when all's finished ( program ) she's being awaken to greet tsukasa. Ain't lying. i have a theory that the new partner is isla but with new memories and remember when tsukasa was about to hold marcia's hand it looks like she went back to normal but when souta called her name she went back to being a wanderer. maybe just maybe tsukasa will find a way to bring back ilsa's memories and he will help other giftias to so that they wont lose they're memory or they won't turn to a wanderer. i hope tsukasa will do something about this. if the story goes on like this then maybe we'll have season 2 and 3
What i think would be best. If he again met her with her memories wiped and they became partners again. They would spend much time with eachother and would create “new” memories. He doesn’t want this and starts missing the former her and wants to find a way to bring her memories back. I personally think it would make it a very emotional scene when she does and then they know that Giftia’s can remember from the past. Most unlikely but eh. That’s just me.

Tsukasa, realizing the implications of this, scrambles to dig through the digital archives of the lab to find all data retained for Isla. In secret he manufacturers a physical replica of Isla. Michiru suddenly appears as she was actually watching from the shadows, surprising Tsukasa.
