Well it started with the DBA Echo Dream 2 which then led to DBA Deep Animation, Interstellar OD Deluxe and Echo Master (for my Vocal Rig). Preordered The Non human Unclean which also somehow led me to Idiotbox Aquabox. I think you also led me to Holy Island of which I've ordered the Deforming. Bit of an avalanche - but all because your videos made the beauty of shoegaze, heavy-ambient, hifi lofi - clear to me. My playing opened up becuse of your videos. Seriously. Anyway, I watch a lot of demo's and yours flow the best. People that have the mind and genuine interest, the ability to describe sounds through articulation and visualisation whilst also having the perception to leave the ego and off-the-shelf caloquialisms behind are rare in this industry. What a great pedal, definitely need to try to get one as soon as I can. Surprised how much I loved the lower gain stuff as an always on touch of grit and think it'd give a shot in the arm to everything else downstream.
@@boringgearreviews I was curious what the noise floor might be for this dude? Obviously when the gain gets cooking it'll be there, but wasn't sure how it did handle some of the lower-ish gain stuff. Squaling noise from a cranked fuzz or distortion is v good, but for some reason a high noise floor when it's not really cooking is a huge bummer for me. Definitely need to get one to try regardless and appreciate the video, I've came back to watch it a few times and appreciate the different aspects covered here
@@Michael_Is_Avg I don’t feel it’s bad at all. At lower gain, it’s pretty quiet and even at higher gain, I don’t find it to be obscene. Still loving it!
Hey man, I’ve watched your Slow Loris video probably 20 times…finally pulled the trigger on it and it’s amazing. Now you’re basically forcing me to buy an Unclean! On another note, when you run delay or modulation stuff into your plugin, are you just going in through the front end or is there some magic way I don’t know about to simulate a loop? Thanks for the videos, man!
Dude, thanks so much! I really appreciate that. Congrats on the Loris. Amazing pedal and the Unclean is right there with it! I have an fx loop/aux send setup for two of my stereo reverbs (cxm 1978 & rooms) but everything else I run into the interface and the front end of the plugin. I set up the aux send through the UAD console and all I remember is that it was complicated lol. If you have UA stuff, I can try to help though.

Great video! I've got a couple of questions if you're still checking in on this: - Seems quite similar in structure (cascading) to a ~900 fuzz, but with a tone(ish) knob instead of the bias, would you say they're quite similar? - Do you know if it cleans up at all with the volume knob on the guitar? Not a complete fuzz face clean, but something that can go from mild to heavy gain is enough. I'm looking for a dirt pedal and I think I'm down to the Unclean and the ~900. I think the bias of the ~900 is swaying me, but they seem relatively similar.
Thanks so much! Yeah, I suppose if you remove the tone and bias controls from them, respectively, they certainly have similarities. The overall distortion qualities sound and feel a bit different though. It’s hard to articulate exactly but I feel the Unclean gets a bit brighter and can do clangy sounds, where the 900 can do blown out gated stuff and is a littler darker. Both such great pedals. I have a full demo of the ~900 as well. They both clean up beautifully and equally well. You’re right that they’re similar but definitely their own things. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either.
I feel like a lot of time when pedals are maxed it's just blah. They lose their tone, charm, color whatever you wanna call it. Not here. The unclean is a power house and does it all.
There is something. so honest about the Unclean's sound and it partners up with your playing in an exceptionally natural way. Man maybe I need two!?

Agreed! He’s a wizard. For sure want to grab a Cave Bear eventually.
The Grime was basically one of the alpha versions of the unclean, pretty similar in structure.
