Jeff, a friend and I tried to change out his AOS on his 2014 Cayman S. We did not remove the plenum although we tried a bit. We also tried to remove the large hose that connects into the AOS but it was not budging at all. My question to you is access to the screw closest to the plenum. In our case there is a vacuum line that blocks overhead access to the screw. Based on what we could see the only way to get at that screw is to remove the plenum. Are you certain you can do this without plenum removal? Thanks in advance.
The hose above it is a coolant bleeder line. Disconnect at the reservoir, then unclip the hose from the clips along the plenum and move it up and out of the way. You can definitely get access to the screw closest to the plenum without plenum removal. It's hard to see where it is under there. I'm not sure if you have seen the latest video I made about how easy the engine is to work on, but this screw was the example I gave towards the end. You can see where I put the socket and extension down.
