My father is from Hamlet and he was in the Navy for 26 years. He met and married my mother in Hawaii in 1952 (she is from NJ). My grandad worked on the Seaboard Railroad in Hamlet (it was their hub). I was in the Navy myself for 22 years. Two of my uncles helped build the model railroad setup in the basement of the Hamlet railroad station museum. CWO4, USN, Ret, 73-95.
