People put tyson in their top 10 but foreman accomplished a lot more and has a way better resume. Also the fact that George is also a gold medalist on top of everything gives him an extra notch on his belt

This interview shows how wonderfully George Foreman evolved both as a boxer and a human being. That is an indication of superb intelligence, tremendous will-power and supreme self-confidence. Foreman is truly a marvelous example of what humans are capable of.

@@jotimthingadane1704 I don't believe the fighter status was in question here as much as stating how George Foreman is lovable. Tyson may be the greatest to you (it's actually Ali (wink)) but Mike isn't lovable.
"I'm not fighting that animal....If you love him so much, you fight him!" (Mike Tyson to Don King in the 1990s about a proposed matchup between Tyson and Old George Foreman.) Tyson thought Foreman's nice guy thing was all an act and knew he still carried a ton of power and thought he neither had the size nor the style to beat him.
That was based off the fights he saw with Cus during film session. His style was based off Frazier's and Cus warned Tyson how you couldn't stand in front of a beast like Foreman and hope to prevail. He watched Frazier get knocked down 6 times and lose it all in just 2 rounds. He knew Foreman wasn't exactly the same person, years later, but he knew he was a horrible matchup against those 2 sledgehammers hanging off Foreman's shoulders.
Good interview. George sums it up correctly. He was not a good person early on in life and realized and owns what he was. The second time around he corrected his self and his actions. God bless you George.

Foreman against Ali, in my opinion, was scarier than Tyson. Tyson had such a ferocity and you could feel his domination and the will of a juggernaut. Foreman, on the other hand, felt like a murderer.
Just to clear up a couple of misconceptions- Ali did not beat George into a nice guy- at least not directly. Foreman was doing pretty well coming back with somewhat improved stamina but still a reckless style, and then 3 years later he fought a light hitting boxer named Jimmy Young who was a known spoiler at the time. He didn't get a lot of KOs, but he had a fast style somewhat like Ali, and had no problem going the distance. Once again George had trouble although he did go the distance this time but lost the decision. He was so exhausted he suffered heat stroke after the match and this is when his religious experience occurred. Ali did train for the rope a dope, it may have been one of a number of strategies he considered, but you can see numerous training videos of him allowing a young Larry Holmes to pound him to the body and even the head. Larry didn't have as much power as Foreman, but he had a lot more than Ali, probably even at this stage. Naturally he wasn't the slick mover which is one reason he isn't as loved as Ali. But Ali was scared of Foreman. (He has admitted this in numerous interviews). He got in touch with Cus D'Amato whom he respected and asked him how he could possibly beat Foreman. Cus told him Foreman was a bully, so at the beginning of the fight hit George with a good right and George would be surprised and it would take the wind out of his sails. And if you watch the fight Ali took the advice. Now that we know the results of the Jimmy Young fight and see an old Ali possibly in the early stages of Parkinson's stand up to Earnie Shavers we can see that Ali beating Foreman was probably a foregone conclusion (maybe not by knockout, but definitely a UD), but at the time, even to Ali it was tough to imagine how he could do it. But Ali did know Foreman was slow, and he had been scared of Sonny Liston and that had come out just fine, so I think there was a mixture of both fear and somewhat real confidence that he exaggerated in interviews.
