Just lost my beautiful mum to dementia, it's the worst, mum forgets who people are, she got real angry & frustration. Terrifying death.
The stress that goes through the whole family is horrific. Now I've just been diagnosed with prostate cancer at the ripe old age of 52.
Scared.
California hammers people with personal property tax. Family needs to get away from the tax burden. Sad to hear this scenario.

And now i am 60 years and still enjoying life. I wish you all the best and the best medical care and threathment they can give you. And when it is over and your clean again,you will remember it as a horror movie. But don,t let your head hang down,when you do that,you let everything and all down. Take care and i hope you will be in 3 years the same as me again. And don,t forget to celebrate it when THAT time is there. A weight will be lifted from your and your family,s shoulders.
Time is money and the deal needs to make cents. Richard did the right thing he put into account all the expenses so the price of the purchase needs to come down a little to offset what it's going to cost to get all that stuff back to Dallas. You got to know when to walk away and you did the right thing in the end. 🇺🇸
Thats amazing his dad was working everyday in the shop until he couldn’t anymore, sad, but so cool to see what he builds and not just for him!

People can do anything they want with cars,but what his father did for them old cars was on another level.

I think your bid was right on. People don't stop to think about how much time and money it takes to move something. It all adds up.

You can't move a rock without 3800 permits and impact statements though, you'll go broke waiting years for a permit, and then you'll need all electric equipment that you're not allowed to charge without permission .. 😵💫
Problem with hunting for gold is some of it is fools gold! On to the next one 🤘
California is a beautiful state..I truly love it..I was born there and we left in the 90's as it was going downhill fast...Today its ruined! Bad politicians and policies ruined California! I will never return to live there,still go to visit family members that are too old to move out!

He seems like a great guy, but I wonder how he is with his sisters because being respectful the lady next to him I’m guessing a sister just seemed like all she cared about was the money. I’m only saying that because you could see how excited she got right, when Richard was about to say his number. You don’t usually act like that when getting rid of your parents collection.

I wonder what the Model A patents are worth? If Richard bought the land too he could hire someone locally to sell it all over a year to max the value. Make the house a B&B while he waits to sell it. This might be a way to get a deal done…if he buys it all right.

Very few collectors want those old pre '40's cars anymore. They go fairly cheap at auctions, even in great shape. I would have passed too!
Im only 9 minutes in so far and this collection is damn impressive, plus this guy knows his cars.

I’ve probably driven past the property a million times, only being an hour away. Always love trying to look for old gold hidden in the mountains, then wondering what’s hidden up the long driveways you can’t see up. Got my 71 c20 from the area. This episode hits home literally! Same here, there used to be (early 2000's) 80×40 barn in Greenly Hill that's was packed full of 60s-70s muscle cars. The county seized the property because of back taxes. There was also a house on New Preist Grade Rd that had a dozen or so old cars and trucks. And last year a car collector in Tuolumne was forced to sell most of his collection (40-50) cars by the county because they were claiming it was a "environmental hazard." Most of his cars were from the late 60s and mid 70s. The owner was a friend of a friend's cousin I was trying to get in contact with him but that never happened.

The same old couple I got the c20 from had the most rust free patina 53 5 window as well. I ended up being the middle man. I helped them sell it but I wish I would have bought it myself. Oh well it’s nice finding gems tucked away.

Someone that will appreciate what's there needs to buy them. I love the fact that his dad sounded like a real dad who was there for the family. I never had a dad so I get sad what I missed out on. But I'm really happy for the people who have a father that is around. I love the collectables, but I have so many that are just packed up,I don't get to enjoy them . As for the cars and trucks they are nice, but just not what I like . I love the late 60s early 70s my wife is 20 yrs younger than me she likes the real old stuff. Not trying to be funny 😮. I was born in July of 1964 and I love the muscle cars . I had 3/57 Chevys when I was 15 but I sold them when I was in my 20s who knew that they would be worth so much. Anyway I loved the video, I'm glad you didn't buy them I could tell you felt a little uncomfortable. I was surprised at your # but I couldn't even put a # on it. I truly believe that he will probably need to PC them out to people who have the time to restore them or know what they are...

This guy would probably do much better with an onsite auction. Let the team that did Dennis’ Auction do it. This makes way more sense vs. shipping it all to one place…then selling one at a time only to be shipped again. Really awesome of Richard to try to help him on this. Getting this stuff all the way to Gas Monkey would have cost a fortune and the math just did not work. If the guy is willing to take a few trips out from Hawaii and do a few auctions. I bet he can get a lot more vs. selling as a collection. Collections are great but man it sure leaves the families left behind in a quandry.

My parents live in Sonora, sounds a lot like me and my Dad, my dad even built a western town, and he passed this last January, and I’m doing close to the same thing, so feel a real kinship, hop all goes well..
the estate sale went really well. The same guys just buy each others stuff when they die. The estate liquidator told me that he had sold one of the bikes 3 times in the last 2 years in the same neighborhood. Thats all some of these old guys do
