TPiR 6/23/09: Ten Chances Done Well in Final Season Playing

- Remember the other win this season was a super-long debacle, won at the final chance, that Drew let go on until 11:23 (PG3). That is, if you don't know, about 3-4 minutes overtime (remembering the commercial break between PG1-2 was still there, of course). Must have happened before November 3rd, I would have uploaded it then. :P

Some people think Drew isn't very good at what he does, but it's clips like this, where he expresses genuine excitement for the contestant, and others where he feels genuine dismay when they lose, that makes me enjoy Drew as tPiR host.
Joel Watson I think Drew really was sad for the contestant too. I think she was going through something in her life here. She really wanted to win.

My only wish was to get to L.A and meet Bob. It never happened since I'm terrified to fly.I watched this game as a child and I knew the prices and at times I new what game they were going to play. Over the years I've won money and cars🙂. After watching Drew I think he's done a good job. Bob Barker wanted Rosie O'Donnell l don't think she would have been a good fit. I just would like the money and cars I have won. I'm broke and my van has over 200.000,the brakes in the back are gone,driving on a spare and it makes awful noises. I don't fix it because its not worth putting money into. I see many cheap cars in better shape then my own for $2.500-3.000
But their is no way I could purchase anything.
I live in my van with my 15 year old chihuahua. No help anywhere.

He'll never be as good as Bob, that much is for sure. But given what massive shoes Drew had to fill I think he's done a pretty good job.
It's moments like this that makes you want to keep watching Price is Right. She was a good 10 chances player and her emotions showed that she really wanted that car.
Not only wanted that car, those emotions showed she really NEEDED that car!😊 I was so happy for her I teared up too!😢

He's no Johnny Olson or Rod Roddy, but he was always good at it. So is George Gray.
He learned from two predecessors b4 hand. He even got to meet Johnny, at one of the tapings. He gave Rich a chance, to call him down

When you end in zero, you eliminate so many wrong choices. It increases your chances of winning, big time.

I mean finally someone who knows. Put the 1 first, Put the 0 last. Then alternate the 3 others numbers between the 1 and 0.
@WayoshiM: Contrary to what you said, this was NOT the "final season playing" of 10 Chances -- it's still around. I've seen it played at least once this current season (2019/20).
2010 they remodeled it the game "10 Chances".
Same concept.
This game is only frustrating because the always get the one person in the audience who has NO CLUE how to play this game.
Rule #1) The price ALWAYS ends with 0 (or 5 if no 0 is available)
Rule #2) Start with the most expensive price possible (while still following rule #1) and work your way down from there.
Rule #3) Don't be stupid!
I agree with you there is always that dumb person who has no idea how to play this game doesn't happen to often most of time when people play this game they know what they are doing.
The 5 part of rule #1 doesn;t apply anymore; instead, all prices end in 0, PERIOD

Didn't Drew sort of bad mouth Ten Chances, in terms of the length of time it takes to play, the last time it was played. Hopefully that remark doesn't cause the game not to return for season 38 like we think may have happened to Three Strikes.

Congratulations to Bridgette, but I hope she gets a different color of car. I see that color on TPIR a lot. I think it looks like plumber's putty grey. Which brings to mind the question. Do the contestants get the actual car they saw on the show❓ 🤔
MtDew Guy they source the car from a dealer and the contestant is responsible for picking it up. There is no guarantee that it will be near by either. I think they also have to pay sales tax. In short: It isn’t the car on tv. Also due to all that, people sometimes forfeit the prize.
They don't source the car from another dealer. They're not allowed to do that due to gambling law since it would be considered a bait and switch. They source a dealer that's closest to you and they deliver the car to the dealership, then the dealership phones you, you pick it up. You of course pay the taxes on win fall income in the USA but there are ways to solve that without having to drop the entire amount in one chunk. Source: Look up Crazy Laura and check out her comments. She won a car and explained the whole thing. She also mentions the book that was released after Bob retired that talks about the process.

Has anybody guessed all three pf the prizes, using only one guess for each one? Leaving seven guesses on the board? I have been watching The Price is Right, since staying home from grade school ( either sick, or pretending to be sick ) an have seen a lot of games. But I do not recall anybody ever doing that. Has anybody else ever witnessed that?

It's not the game, it's the contestants that frequently make it long by stupidly putting the same number twice in the car's price and having to change it.

4:40 six chances and she has automatically won with the zero rule. At that time the car would not start with a 2, and it is not 12,000. That only leaves 19720, 19,270, 17,920 and 17,290. Even if she thought it started with 2, she would have gotten sidetracked with 21,970 and 21,790 - but got back to the 19 and 17 combos and winning within the chances left. And if she hadn’t wasted guess 1 by violating the zero rule, she would have won with a guess to spare. This game is almost impossible to lose, yet people do.
