    Moisture overload is the reason that deep conditioners tell you to only leave it on for 10 minutes or whatever amount of time it says on the back. If your hair is healthy you should only be using it for that amount of time. And you should only go over that time if your hair is ridiculously damaged and dry.

    • @courtneyneal1385
      @courtneyneal1385 3 роки тому +8

      Exactly and I’ve heard from licensed curly hair stylist that unless your hair is really damaged you don’t have to deep condition every week. Using a quality conditioner goes a long ways.

    • @atmreads
      @atmreads 3 роки тому +8

      @@courtneyneal1385 exactly, I only use a deep conditioner when I clarify my hair, which is maybe once a month and I just use it in place of my normal conditioner. And that's because my hair has never been colored, and it's been heat styled like 4 times, so it's not damaged.

      I ended up with overmoisturized hair because I followed Bianca's advice to "deep condition at least once a week". The reality is, how often you deep condition depends on your hair and even climate conditions. I live in a hot and humid weather, so not only I was drinking a lot of water, deep conditioning weekly, my hair was also absorbing water from the environment.
      This is why you should listen to your hair and not an influencer's opinion based on THEIR hair and experiences 🤦🏽‍♀️

    • @atmreads
      @atmreads 3 роки тому +2

      @@SaraHinata I completely agree! I feel like so many influencers act like their experience is the only experience, and you should treat your hair how they treat theirs. But you shouldn't, that's also why I hate when influencers say that everyone should use a certain product because then you get people saying it didn't work because it's not what they needed. People need to start listening to registered hairstylists and their own hair, not just influencers.

    I just started my transition, deep condition every monday for 20 mins and use leave in then a cream or gel. When I use gel like curl talk or dippity due, the second day my hair feels so brittle and dry, stiff... is this because of not having moisture? Creams seems a bit better. Will this just continue to get better? Planning on trying the curlsmith brand too! I did love the curl talk cream and mousse combo!!

    Okay B! Love that lipstick color on u!
    I bought the protein line from CS and tried to “SwitchItUp.” I’m normally not a foam/ mousse person, but I tried both of these as directed on the bottle. I hated it!!!!! Didn’t like the feel of the foam in my hair as it went in. I had no shine whatsoever after it dried. Not sure if I used too much product or just that foam ain’t for me😏 I’m going to give it a second try by itself or the cream by itself and see if it’s better. Idk....I wanted to love it because it does smell so great and the healthy ingredients. I have medium/high porosity fine hair with coarseness at the nape of my neck and forehead region with tons of hair. Trying to find that balance is a struggle for me; also began my natural hair transition as of 1/1/2019 from heat damage, relaxers, and color; so it’s a working process any way🤪 Loved the content!

    Counterintuitive tip: if you hair feels dry and brittle/stringy, and you're adding crazy moisture and it's not helping, try adding protein or using a bond-builder. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my hair, but when I did a strand test I found my brittle, stringy hair was super stretchy, so I did a quick protein treatment and it solved the problem almost immediately!

I have no idea anymore and still haven't figured out a good balance. I'm growing my hair out after chemo so I had to relearn how to style my hair and what products to use. It's getting a little frustrating trying to figure it all out. I've been deep conditioning once a week and using a protein treatment (I don't think it's a good one) once a month. I think I used way too much deep conditioning and moisturizing products that my hair became too dry and now soaks up a lot of water yet becomes very dry and frizzy
    I tried switching to clarifying shampoo and moisturizing conditioner but no luck
    I use a leave in conditioner and gel for stying products
    Help! What should I do!

    Figuring out the balance between moisture and protein for my hair has always been a struggle for me. Definitely considering the bond builder from Curlsmith, and the in-shower styler Geo has definitely become the MVP in my products drawer 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

    I feel like my hair has mixed porosities. The thick middle is high and everywhere else is low. Is that even possible?

    • @gaiat4841

      Definitely possible! You might have some areas more damaged than others, and that affects porosity

    I wonder if my hair doesnt like protein. I have tried the curl smith bonder and the shea moister protein treatment and both made my hair very frizzy and didnt help the curl definition for me. I wonder why ?

    hi bianca, what if i have high porosity hair? and i use a deep conditioner that has a balance of both protein and moisture, can I leave it on my hair for a whole hour? cause i did try that and i really like my curls especially after styling! i got tighter curls so more definition which I LOVE !
